Special You

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Ephesians 6).
How does the art specialist determine the authenticity of a painting on canvas? If you go to any gallery, there will be art students copying the originals. The specialist knows the brushstrokes of the true artist just as the mother hen knows the identity of her brood. Farm animals, even work animals (such as a team of mules or horses) will know the voice of the one who works them, feeds them.
What makes one preacher stand out, every preacher-every speaker has the same Bible-the same reference books to work with, yet there will always be one or two that stand head and shoulders above others… Only one Dwight Moody, only one Billy Graham, only one RG Lee.
Every student in the healthcare field has access to materia medica (hundreds of volumes of material relating to health discoveries). Every scientist has access to the library, to all the scientific information written, peer-reviewed, before him. Yet, there is only one scientist who will make the crucial discovery. There were many scientists before Watson and Crick, but they wrote the book, “The Double Helix”, discovery of DNA. I was still in college when this discovery was made and I thought this will put an end to this malarkey about evolution, but it seems it just whetted the appetite of the unbelieving atheist.
Is there still a real challenge to knowledge, to study, to excel, does the human being still have the need for excellence?

My parents were reared within two miles of one another, my grandparents before them, my great grandparents before them, still standing, after all these years, the plantation home owned by my mother’s family. Her father had one brother who lived in the home his entire life, never married, always slept in the same room. As far as I know, this uncle never spent one night away from that room, where he was born and where he died. Was he better off to never have been exposed to the world, as this writer has been exposed? He remembered the first electric lights, the first time a building in town built over one story high. Late in life, he died old, my grandparents had purchased a television, I don’t believe he ever understood what it was all about. I know he would not ride in a motor vehicle for many years after he saw the first one, “I’m not going to get in that thing.” Was he better off to never have known the intricacies of education, more than just his ability to read and write? Would he have enjoyed life more, if exposed to modernity, with all its futures and failures?
