Automatons

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)

Millions of Americans have been jolted recently, learning that the IRS and other government agencies are checking everything about them. They thought they were living in a land of freedom (this writer has experienced police state brutality in such places as the Seychelle islands, Mauritius, China, where and when you were talking to someone they were constantly glancing around to see who was listening or watching). If citizens knew the peril they face in revealing their lives on Face book the government already know more about you, your bank account, your sins and silliness, than you do. Young people do not realize they are in a steady march to a Gulag. Even those who already live in government subsidized housing, even those totally dependant on welfare.
Like the so called meteorologist on television, the news commentator, just READERS who have no comprehension of their subject matter just parroting something that a government worker has dictated. Much like Mr. Obama, clueless unless reading from a teleprompter.
Americans have become Alta tones, just falling in line believing anything. They actually believe that chemotherapy and radiology will cure cancer, the very things that cause cancer, strange chemicals and radiation, both of which accumulate in the body. Cancer will not be cured because cancer is worth 1.2million dollars for every person with cancer. Many Americans actually believe that their children are being educated in a public school, when we rank 37th in the world in our knowledge of math and science. This is why home schooling grows seven times faster than public schooling. Parents want to get their loved children away from the decadence of public schooling... Some refuse to fall in line.
This writer dropped his membership in AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science), several years ago, because I found that today's scientist are much more interested in government and foundation grants than in research to improve the life of their fellow man. Like many pastors, much more interested in their pastoral packet (vacation, retirement, car allowance, etc) than the souls of people who just might come to hear them and the fact that UNSAVED people, still go to hell.
A verse of scripture that changed my life many years ago,  Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee (Psalm 84:5). The knowledge that my strength comes from God, has enabled me to live life as a 100% disabled veteran.
In my lifetime, 82 years, the world has changed AND, it is truly remarkable how people and businesses become just automatons.
How well I remember when any store, you receive personal service... A clerk taking care of you. How well I remember the first self service store I ever encountered... Pushing a shopping cart around, picking up things, checking out with a cashier. I thought, "anyone with baggy clothes can steal anything, and so it is". It really makes no difference anymore, because government welfare agencies are much more concerned about the shoppers than the seller... Furnishing a plastic card so the poorest do not have to worry about stealing AND, the twist beyond comprehension, sex and tabloid papers and magazines totally hiding the cash register so you cannot see what you are being charged. Business, from the banking house, to the court house, to the road house, has become a matter of greed. The hardworking, God fearing, tax paying citizen, attempting to live according to God's book, caught in the middle. The temptation of the automaton even as a child, "Everyone is doing it".
In my youth, church house, and school house, we were taught not to gossip. As one man said to me long ago, "If you cannot prove what your saying to me about someone else, don't tell me". Starting with gossip "screenland" magazines, then moving to the radio with engaging personalities such as Hedda Hopper, late night TV talk shows, led by Johnny Carson, all media fell in line with gossip talk shows.
The public, even responsible homes like automatons have fallen right in line with any sin or shameful activity coming around. Parents of young children even some who warm church house pews think it is fair to recognize same sex marriage, even the spending of $50 for the morning after pill by any young girl on a abortion activity... A pill to prevent inception -gestation. When will bible believing, real Christians, say enough is enough and throw the TV and other cesspools of satanic activity out of their house. It is not that we do not know better but Satan has his hold on us.
Doctors -nursing -public health officials know better, yet they will walk on carpet in the corridors of hospitals. They know full well that every germ known to man is hiding in these carpets. Parents and grandparents, who love their children and grandchildren, will sit right there in a house wall to wall carpet , a precious child crawling around on that carpet, souls of shoes, bottoms of animals have brought every germ possible to that house now hiding in the carpet. Intelligent people will go to a doctors office, wanting to get well. Further exposing themselves to every germ known to man by licking their fingers, turning pages of old germ infested magazines, sitting on chairs where the skin of sick people have instilled germs. Most doctors, their staffs, are all too busy making money to clean their offices -hospitals, - clinics. The automaton theory of life, knowledge means little whether biological, political, or spiritual, just get in line and do what everyone else is doing.

Watkins Man

Watkins Man

In one of the world's largest cathedrals, a large stained glass window, centerpiece, Jesus. The artist had all the pre cut glass colors assembled on the floor of the cathedral. Slowly, each piece of glass was assembled. At the end, beautiful, yet not quite perfect, something was missing, and then he thought, the smallest piece of glass, which he carefully inserted into the eye of our blessed Lord. The piece of glass which gave an unmistakable gleam to the eye of Jesus. It was always the eyes of Jesus that made the difference. The eye is always the window of the soul. Not seeing the eye of a person is perhaps the greatest robbery of the blind. Always, without fail, the non-betrayal of the eyes. This blind writer new that he could always determine the sincerity of anyone by reading there eyes.

Not just me, but I watched the eye sincerity of other people...the sincerity of others with my parents.

No greater example of this than the Watkins man who came by our house every few months. (Watkins products since 1868, men first with horse and wagons then individual men traveling the countryside in their automobiles, filled with Watkins products which they sold and made a living from commission.) I still remember Mr. Canady, the Watkins man, just as I remember Mr. Forehand, the fish man who came by in his truck each Friday. These men enjoyed the America tradition of free enterprise, individual capitalism, built on the time warn system of trust. You could see the trust shown in the eyes of both my father and the Watkins man. My father purchased exterminating things, "fly spray." My mother purchased vanilla extract and other spices for the kitchen. This was before the time of big farmer, Wal-Mart with their cheap Chinese rip-off's. In the truest sense of the American spirit, free enterprise, entrepreneurship, helping one another make a living.

One of the first things I was told in traveling to big cities, particularly, New York City, you avoid eye contact. Can one even imagine our blessed Lord's eyes not coming into contact with those he healed? Think of his disappointment with the nine lepers. (Leprosy like today's, HIV/Aids-incurable.) Does one even comprehend, "incurable outcasts"-human beings not allowed to even come in contact with the healthy, even members of their own family? Must always shout to oncoming fellow human beings, "unclean." As they turned to go to the priest at the instruction of Jesus, looking at one another, found that they had been healed. But, only one returned to thank him. Such a difference, the lepers had eyesight. Bartimaeus, outside the city of Jericho, was totally blind. Jericho, a fortress city of paganism whose walls had fallen. (Hebrews 11:30) Bartimaeus, refusing to be silent, threw off his cloak and persisted with Jesus. (Mark 10:46-52) He received his sight, praising, followed Him. Nothing surprises God. But, even today, human beings are besmirched by the lackadaisical attitude of one towards another..eyes or no eyes.

I have never known a professional office to employ a blind person. (Perhaps in a back room, doing some typing, etc.) Those dealing with the public are usually sighted, can well see the distress and despair of those seeking help...doctor's office, dentist office, lawyers office, magistrates office, etc. When you give a professional office the honor and respect of asking for an appointment there, when you have given the honor and respect of being on time for the appointment, when you have given the honor and respect of dressing and being on your best behavior for the appointment, WHY, in the name of God and everything that is still decent in the world, are so many people treated with such callousness-distain at such an event? Much like going into a merchandise business, a business which must depend on the profits of selling merchandise and the hired help acting as if they do not care whether anything is sold or not. How often do you go into a restaurant, place of business, and after callous treatment, surmise, "I would like to manage this place for about 10 minutes." It seems that it would be so simple just to do the job for which you are paid.

This writer went to his doctor's office, a place he has been going for many years, over and over, the same routine each time. As a professional, I know how to treat people, call them by name (the best sound in the world is a person's own name) pleasant at every turn. Almost always, it has been a pleasant experience. My age, decorated veteran, well known in the community and well able to pay my bill, (when I was in practice, we called such people carriage trade). My treatment is more routine than anything else. Showing respect to every fellow professional, even at the VA hospital, I am always dressed, jacket, tie, etc. In fact, the young man helping men redress, said, as he fixed my tie, "Their is no doubt that you were the sharpest officer in the U.S army", BUT, then you return to the front desk for a follow up appointment, scheduled every so many months, a new woman, from "Yankee land," and she pushed every button to show how nasty she could be...with my secretary-driver, standing right there watching. What possible joy does any fellow human being get from being intentionally nasty with another, especially the disabled, especially on those on whom they must depend for their employer to pay their salary.

Nothing surprises God, he made us. He knew that there would be those who would never understand mercy. He drowned billions, all on earth except eight in Noah's flood, before 5000 B.C. In his word, Psalm 136, 26 times, he uses one sentence, "for his mercy endureth forever." Jesus himself said, "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy" (Matt 5:7).

Money Back Guarantee

I have been told that the daughter of a cousin, which would make me her cousin, had left her Methodist church because her pastor, who was supposed to perform her marriage ceremony, would not let her large German Shepard come in to the church and sit with the family during her wedding.

Politically and spiritually, the condition of the world today is much like a driver trying to back up an18 wheel truck without a rear view mirror, when the driver is about to drive over a cliff. On either side, “occupiers” protesting that it is his fault for being so near the cliff and even trying to reverse the situation.

We have forgotten that nations as well as people can change. The apostle Paul, Moses, King David, were all murderers. David, murderer, adulterer was called a man after God's own heart. (1 Samuel 13:14) Moses, murderer, disobedient, leader of the Jewish nation, appeared with Christ. Paul, murderer, persecutor, writer of 16 books of the new testament, knew the effectiveness of God's forgiveness.

Professing Christians, this side of the cross, generation after generation, have forgotten the power of the cross... what actually happened on the cross, the gospel memorialized, sin's ruin and Christ's redemption. Redemption in the atonement, His blood covering our sins, (1 John 1:7) the stripes inflicted on His body for our healing. (1 Peter 2:24)

We are living in the Laodicean church age (Revelation 3:14-22). Lukewarm, ready for God to spit out. If your family, particularly your family, your friends, your neighbors, your associates, do not consider you a fanatic or nuts then you can be sure you are not a Christian, unsaved. Most are just playing church, most churches just country clubs with steeples. It is so rare for me to meet a minister of the gospel with the passion and personality of a shepherd, a servant, a soul-winner. We are at a time in the history of entitlements, subsidizing, vacations, retirements. A large part of the population on welfare, legalized boredom. More time is available for God's Word than ever in history yet, even the sophisticates-perfumed, well dressed, leisurely, interested in suppers, Yoga classes – do not have time for God's Word or the masses of God's unsaved children.

On one of my three trips to communist China, following the reopening, I encountered the underground church. Always, even from the 1st century church and it's beginnings in southern France, the church has grown under persecution. There are more Christians in China than the population of America... Christianity is growing even in North Korea, even in Japan.

God's liberty is always right. Escape the attitude of agnosticism, ”make-believe” in the unbelieving church... denominations ordaining homosexual pastors, lesbian Bishops, performing same-sex marriages. Christians are told to separate themselves from such. (2 Corinthians 6:17) We are a royal priesthood, a Holy nation, strangers and pilgrims, our citizenship is in heaven. (1 Peter 2:9) In this world of political correctness everyone seeking popularity (winning friends an influencing people) Christians, who at one time thought it was a sign of honor to be different want to eat, drink, dress, talk, act like the world. Nothing could make the prince of the world, Satin, happier. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Not who we are but whose we are. In America, the underground church has begun. Solid Christians tired of ”make-believe” gathering in homes to study, pray, and worship, there are now about 1,400 groups. As denominations such as Baptists, the largest non-Catholic denomination, take flight from the promises of God's Word, more and more will find the worship stability of the cottage just as rewarding as did the early settlers of America... especially young Christians on fire with redemption. My missionary son told me that young Christians on the foreign fields, so enthused with belief, would pray for the sick before seeking a doctor.

Eleven percent of the nations population now take antidepressant drugs. Big Pharma wants every man, women, and child taking at least two prescription drugs their entire life. (NaturalNews.com) Most stores, other than drug stores, give a money back guarantee. Your money back guarantee, in this world of STRESS, lying, cheating, stealing, doubts and fears, is as follows: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Jerusalem

My first trip to Israel, 1965, when approaching the walls of Jerusalem, the Damascus gate, I told my driver to stop the car, that I wanted to walk in. It would be an unusual western Christian who would not have a feeling of absolute joy to enter the most famous city on earth. And, for a committed, born again Christian who is a Bible student and has studied this city and the history of this land, it was a splendor beyond description. Varied archeology and historical details have evolved about the city and its early history. This we know: David seized the city from the Jebusites and it has been the center of religious activity since. Just to walk down the streets of the old city: the smells, the sounds, the reverence of the Jews around the wailing wall is a memorial to the millions of pilgrims who have visited and studied this metropolis which has a population of nearly 1 million.

A very wonderful lady in my life described to me at length a trip by her parents to the “Holy Land” long before planes. They were people of wealth and could afford to travel by ship to the Holy Land, live there for several weeks and travel to the Biblical places of interest while they were in a historically and archaeologically primitive condition unlike today, where tourists arrive by the thousands. I have been to Jerusalem three times and the thrill is still there.

This speaks of a time when there was no historical enjoyment.  This speaks of a time when our blessed Lord was tried by a court of mockery and judicial ineptness, sent to death by the polls of pagans and backsliders, who, then as now, cast their polling vote for a thief. Even today, all the major media outlets would choose Barabbas over Christ. Even today, the slick magazines and the few newspapers left in the country would choose Barabbas over Christ.  Even today, the thieves in political office elected mostly by liberal unbelievers, agnostics, academics, would choose Barabbas over Christ.

Jesus Christ, son of God who created the universe, who put on a tent of human flesh and dwelled among us in absolute perfection, was killed by religious people in consort with pagans. After a deceitful trial, which even the roman conquerors determined a fraud, but popularity as then as now, caused politicians, primitive Roman or modern American, to seek a popular compromise rather then justice. Never in the history of humanity has there been such fraud and fright.

The tearing apart of the most innocent of life inside a mothers womb for the birth control of the heathen, the chopping up of small children by the machete in African tribal disasters for the benefit of heathen power brokers, the suicide bombing, blowing apart the human bodies of women and children just trying to live as an objective for religious control of maniac leaders, come close to what our blessed Lord endured. The difference is, He was the son of God, Savior of the world through whose shed blood, all the sins of the world would be forgiven, a gift of grace that through faith redeemed people would have eternal life.

700 years before his birth, the prophet Isaiah had described his atonement: Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53)

As He dragged His cross, on which He was to be crucified, through the streets of Jerusalem, ( the streets packed with people for this Jewish religious holiday time) He passed by those who had seen Him, from a small boys lunch, feed thousands. He could probably call them by name because as the scripture tells us, our names are written in the very hand of God. As He dragged His cross by women, who were probably shedding tears of compassion, He reminded them that if such is done to a green branch, what will happen to the dry.  As He dragged His cross through the streets of Jerusalem, His feet were probably insecure and He certainly thought of the disabled of time and eternity, the blind, the cripple, who daily walk with uncertain steps. Once when He fell, His cross was thrust on an African slave named Simon from the African country of Cyrene who just happened to be a bystander, who had no idea his name would go down in God’s immortal history demonstrating the blessedness of cross bearing. “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” ( Hebrews 12:2)

On the hill just outside Jerusalem, shaped like a skull, our blessed Lord was stripped naked and nailed to the cross. The artist has been so modest in painting a rag around his genital area, but he was hung on this cross before the world naked, beaten, and blooded for our benefit.

Once I helped my father tear down a very old building, probably built before the civil war. The large timbers were joined by the boring and placing of wood spikes, but the metal spikes in the building were not like today’s nails, smooth. Can you even imagine the spikes that were driven through the wrists and ankles of our Lord?

So much of the actions which occurred at Calvary’s tree, can be compared to today’s heresy. They gambled for his one possession, his robe. Today’s lovers of gambling (lottery, poker machines, betting on everything from horses to dogs) would have participated in this Las Vegas type entertainment.  The lovers of strong drink ( Cocktails, wormwood, etc) would have certainly offered Him a drink to ease His pain. And, certainly was the case with the pagans and semi-religious types mocking him on the cross, they would have said, “if you are God, come down.”

I had a very prominent, educated man say to me recently, “If the God you worship is so powerful why do you ask for money and contributions?” In other words, he had no idea of the gift God was giving the world in the sacrifice of His only Son, just as the non-believer had no idea of the joy and worship the Christian received, giving himself and his wealth for God's benefit. And, like the pseudo-religious and pagan people who think the law is the answer to everything, they wanted to make sure the body was taken down before legal observance of the Passover, the legal religious attitude of not touching a dead body, ( As has been so beautifully shown in the Pieta, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo, depicts the body of Jesus on the lap of his mother Mary after the Crucifixion.) As is the case with today’s “church people” who are just playing with God. One is extremely fortunate to have the love of a mother until the end.

About 30 years ago, I was participating of a funeral of one of this states outstanding citizens. One man said to me, “Is your mother still living?” I said “Yes, thank God, but in poor health.” He said, “When you lose your mother you will lose the best friend you ever had.” And, most of His disciples had fled in horror and fear. But the beloved John was still at the foot of the cross. It is a fortunate man, indeed, who still has one friend until the end. Such a good friend, that he could ask him to take care of his mother.

There are many significant, very real, never to be forgotten, blessed memories of this crucifixion, the greatest gift in the history of the world. The event to which all history of the world converges and the event from which all history of the world diverges. One of the more important, for us to remember, in the tomb from which He was resurrected, the Jewish custom of having a napkin over the head, had been observed. The grave clothing in which He was wrapped for burial in this borrowed tomb, were crumpled on the floor, but the napkin, which was over His head was carefully folded by our Lord before his exit. It was the Jewish custom, in home, that when someone arose from the table, if they intend to return to the table they folded their napkin, otherwise if they had finished and did not intend to return they crumpled their napkin. Note: for the blessing of every believer who awaits his return, He folded his napkin, He plans to return. “Even so come quickly Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22)
