Flips Flops

Indicative of the casual appearance and the unholy attitude exhibited of so many young people towards God's house of worship. I understand that many wear “flip flops” to church services at many of the mega worship centers.  As well as shorts and tank tops, exhibiting more flesh then was seen on the beach in my youth.  I remember my grandfather saying it was rare to see a woman’s ankle when he was a boy.  I have seen my grandmother and great grandmother wearing shoes which went several inches up their leg.

Years ago, when I had a little vision, I remember going to a church here in the city and a girl walking down the center aisle who was dressed more appropriately for the beach than a worship service. When Moses led the 2 ½ million Jewish slaves out of Egypt toward the Promised Land, but first spending 40 years wondering in the desert.  God’s particular care for these chosen people was shown in the fact their clothing did not wear out nor did their foot wear: “And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot” (Deuteronomy 29:5).

Again in Deuteronomy, he spoke of shoes of iron and brass “Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.” (Deuteronomy 33:25) God knew that it was going to be a rough trip.

In the military, one of the first things a soldier learns to do if he has any intelligence at all is to take care of his feet.  This is the reason we all wear “combat boots” we are ready for a tough exercise of any type.  Rough terrain such as the desert in which the children of Israel wondered for 40 years or even the terrain to which military exercises and combat might be expected.  Do not lend the intelligent person to wear flip flops or bedroom shoes.  In recent years most young people have adapted to athletic footwear and many athletes have made fortunes endorsing such footwear.  More so than any other part of the body. Grey’s anatomy tells us the foot has 26 bones, reason enough for adequate foot care.  As an elderly patient said to me one time, “Doctor. I take good care of my “feets” they got to take me a long way.”

In studying the life of Thomas Jefferson, one of our greatest national leaders, we find he soaked his feet in water daily. My ancestors did the same thing only they added ashes from wood burning stoves to the water. The chemicals from the ash evidently was a great value not only to the skin but to the muscles of the feet.

At recent political conventions, flip flops were used to dramatize the way many politicians flip flopped on many questions and political decisions. In most ideologies there are those who say one thing but after election do the exact opposite. The best example of this in modern history is the fact that republican conservatives stressed the need for this country to be financially secure as taught by both conservative Christian religions and every historical document to the president.

Governments like families cannot spend like drunken fools, there is as the great preacher R.G. Lee said in his famous sermon “There is a payday some day.”  Republicans who preached fiscal responsibility while condemning the tax and spending policies of the democrats when they finally were in power in all branches of government, doubled the size of government and spent more foolishly that any democrat had ever dreamed.  It has been the most disgusting episode in recent political history and it will take a long time for the republicans (most of whom still call themselves conservatives) to recover from this financial nightmare of national debt. So it is with individuals who think that a plastic credit card is their ticket to abundance.

Last year, I decided to put in a box every credit card offer that came to me as an individual.  When I finally decided to count them I had 59 of them in 10 months time. Credit card companies of every description were trying to entice me into debt. It’s not easy for me to do anything anymore but, I did take all these credit cards, put them into a plastic bag and sent them to the attorney general of the state of North Carolina, in a letter which I explained the stupidity of government allowing companies to entice citizens into this credit scam, in which they make more money on penalties and late fees than anything else. I did not need a credit card and I do not believe that most of the children and college students who are bombarded by these credit offers. Of course, my efforts in explaining ID theft and the other problems associated with such credit was of little interest to the NCAG, someone from his office, a woman, called and asked if she should “shred the letter and cards I had sent to them.”

A copy of the same letter explaining the ridiculous efforts of companies to enslave citizens to credit was sent to federal officials. The judiciary of this country are the enablers of the credit crunch and recession dilemma in which the entire nation finds itself. With just the scam of credit cards as an example of the financial bailout scandal and banking practices the county has been subjected to in recent years. Since Obama took over, 4.4 trillion dollars has been added to the national debt. This more money than was borrowed by Presidents George Washington through George W. Bush, the national debt is now, since Obama, 14 trillion, this is 14 with twelve zeros (a trillion is one million million dollars). Each man, woman and child is in debt to the government $45,000. There was a time when credit was not only hard to get but the results of not paying on time was a real problem.

In these days of congressional hearings and nauseating variety of excuses from politicians and financial wizards concerning the chaotic dilemma of the entire nation because of the flip flop involving the ambiguity of borrowing money.  We have no one to blame but the senior citizens of this nation who were reared with the responsibility of buying the only things they could pay for and who should have taught their children to do the same and who should have voted for the politicians who had the common sense not to spend this nation into bankruptcy.

Life is tough and as my wonderful deceased Mother said to me many times , “Money does not grow on trees.” My generation saved, “for a rainy day” my generation, voted for representatives in government who did not bond or borrow to build just anything that constituents desired and spent stupidly in order to buy their votes.  There has been a complete flip flop regarding the responsibility of politicians or pastors who would rather be popular then prudent. Tough times, whether in individual disabilities or catastrophes, family disasters and disputes, or government dilemmas require responsible responses guided by the steady hand of resolute resolve.

Financial System Unspun

#502

I have a very simple system of financial stability. It will work for me, it will work for you, the Nation, the world. It is so simple. Pennies make nickles, nickles make dollars, and dollars take care of themselves. You cannot invest anything you have spent. If a man is right with his pocketbook, the man is probably alright.

When I was in college, my nickname was “iron pockets” because, I was so tight with my money. Nothing has changed. I am still frugal living and frugal believing. Therefore, I can be generous in my giving and in my believing. I give away to philanthropy much more than I ever thought I would make and I always intended to make a lot of money. I had rather die and go on to my eternal reward than go into bankruptcy, or dishonor my good name or my families good name by owing any man any thing but love. As far as I know, no relative has ever been in jail. As far as I know, no family member of mine has ever been accused of stealing anything or even of not paying a debt. The soldiers of ancient Athens, had rather be taken back to their marvelous city lying dead on their shield than to have been accused of dishonesty or as a traitor to their county. How do you expect young people to have a passion for saving and investing when their Nation is besieged by debts and creditors? I often hear, we are the worlds wealthiest Nation. The truth is, we are the worlds poorest Nation. So deep in debt it is impossible even to think of repayment. We will repudiate our debts by inflating our money. Expect, real soon, a 30% decrease in the value of a dollar. If you have $100 in your bank checking account your bank will inform you that you have $70. This is the way crooked, deceptive, communists governments have always paid their debts. When every communist dictator, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Sung, Pol Pot, etc. all just took the property of land owners and turned it over to the masses. Private property means nothing in most of the world. Private property has become nonexistent in America. I was told in Mongolia, by the communists, “the commissars pretend to pay us and we pretend to work”.

In America, your government; Federal, State, Local, PRETENDS that you own your farm, your house, your car, your business, even your job (privileged license); but you stop paying your taxes, your license fees, your permits, and you will find out real quick who owns your things when they are sold at a public auction at the court house where you are sentenced for non payment inside the court house. The government owns everything, even you. A large part of the population lives in government housing projects or section 8 housing. There, the government must be responsible for repairs and maintenance. The government much prefers to pretend that you, the slave, owns your own house, business, farm, vehicle, so you will care for it and maintain it.

As Generalissimo, Chiang Kai-shek, fled towards Formosa (now Taiwan) taking with him the material wealth of China (all the caves in Taiwan are filled with Chinese art. I visited the Chiang Kai-shek home where art is rotated). Mao killed an estimated 90 million Chinese to establish a liberal communist welfare state where health care and communal living is well established. Just as many would prefer in America. Joseph Stalin killed 26 million to establish the Marxist/Lenin type communist health care and housing care system which many in America would prefer. Castro and Jong-il of North Korea, several South American dictators are killing and taking in order to make a similar government change. Dr. Franklin said during the early days of our constitution we can exchange all liberty for security. Alexis de Tocqueville, when he traveled from France to America in 1835 said, “when America ceases to be good America will cease to be great”. During one year of Obamanation of Obama Administration, in spite of our previous wars, transgressions, perversions, wars of defense and offense, this land of opportunity, a land to which people have tried to float towards on rickety boats, has lost its greatness and its goodness. Dishonor to today's America is not in being scared of the future but in running from the battlefield.

The male brain is wired for competition and pursuit, the sexual pursuer, the athletic competitor, the aggressor in finances. One might forgive Tiger Wood, John Edwards, Mark Sanford, and Bill Clinton for their sexual exploits but it is hard to forgive Greenspan, Bernanke, Rangel, and Paulson, for their lying and cheating and wasting the hardworking, God fearing, tax payers money.

One must understand the disease in order to understand the recovery. The same snakes in Washington and Wall Street who have brought on the disease now think we have a recovery. With bad news coming out of Europe ( Iceland, Dubai, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, UK), everyday, impossible deficits and debts, under the Obama Administration the double dip from the buffet of incompetence and ignorance is just beginning.

I have lived my entire life in an attitude of recession. Here, in my den, I have the kerosene table lamp which was used in my home as a child. I know recession and depression. I saw the depths of economic depravity (1930-1940). I also have here in this room the cast iron, fireplace cooking pot, which my ancestors used to cook in a fireplace when they landed from England and founded the area of Morristown NJ. I did not know what people were talking about when they spoke of “eating a steak”. Right on as a child, our meals were always a large “pot pie”. Face it, we are a spoiled, overfed, decadent people. God wanted me to see the world, and see the living conditions of other people...just as valuable in his eyes...people who should share in the wealth of this earth (I have been on eight trips around the world, every continent, passport stamped in 157 countries). It is only in America that you find fat people. In most of the world, women spend most of their day bringing home drinking water in water pots on top of their head...just trying to find enough food to feed their children. Many children have never had one pair of shoes. Most have never known the joy of a new article of clothing or even the sweetness from a piece of candy.

The present financial decline started in 2007. Through the mimicry of the security bubble, the housing bubble, the bail out bubble, and now the media bubble; we are experiencing, first hand-uptight-full frontal, the destruction of the once greatest financial free enterprise system of the world.

In the Obamanation Obama Administration, people who have never run so much as a lemonade stand; one week, he says, we must pay as we go. The next week, he comes out with billions needed for new programs. He appoints as his financial advisor a trustee of the defunct General Motors Corporation, Marauder as President of the University of North Carolina...Erskin Bowels, to get his financial administration “in order”.

Reverend Farrakhan told thousands last week that the President would probably be assassinated. I am very suspicious of these advertisements for gold. We know that our economy is on life support...under the oxygen tent...because we do not want too much cO2 to escape into the atmosphere. The question for the present administration, “will you slash spending or should the citizens slash their wrists”?

Moochers

One of the most interesting studies in the world is that involving political geography and how cities get started, what develops politicians, etc. Having traveled the world, every continent, at night, listening to the BBC broadcast from London, I have never heard them give the weather report from any city I have not visited. In studying the maps of any country you will find that geography determines the development of a city. For protection, families would build their houses close together usually near a river because river transportation and boats was the only mode of transportation for many years. As in the many islanded Indonesia (a nation of 5,000 islands), the expense of building bridges is so prohibitive that the ferries we hear of sinking make the connections between cities and so it was with the early rivers here. Mostly ferries connecting either side of a river as was the case here with the Cape Fear River. But, as bridges were built, so were roads and later railroads. Fortunes were made with the early railroads (Vanderbilts), the first railroad in North Carolina was from Wilmington to Weldon, the railroad owned by then Governor Dudley, who's mansion still sits here on the bank of the river.

In Europe, the cities were walled for protection and from the beginnings of military forces, produced by the families of the city, slowly but surely the head military men became the first politicians. Today, most politicians are lawyers but western civilization and it's political leaders is a product of the military.

Perhaps from the pillaging, pilfering, contraband, graft and corruption, easily learned in military exploits, the early politicians learned there was security and safety with their nose in the public tax trough. It becomes just a matter of keeping your position there, whatever the cost. The early politicians, like today's, with their lackey bureaucrats, know that government produces nothing, their power comes in their ability to tax. The one time protectors want to continue the charade and never let the enslaved know that they do not own anything but rather those empowered with the ability to tax and regulate own everything. It becomes a matter of raising their pay, steadily stealing through empowered expense accounts (now to the extent of giving politicians and bureaucrats credit cards) and just keeping the process going without going to jail.

The enslaved, who now must get a permit or a license, for every human action except breathing, are so enthralled by these politician moochers that they further regulate themselves by entwining and entangling into Homeowner Associations, where, believe it or not, in the true Marxist system, their neighbors further regimentize their lifestyle.

You could never convince our forefathers, who believed in freedom, who loved every idea of liberty, that their descendants would submit to the inhumanity of men. Even if we had been invaded by a foreign army, we would not have less liberty than we have today with a combined occupying force of obsessing elected political tyrants and wannabe stewards of the streets (in Cuba, the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution patrols every street, regulates and reports the “goings on” in every residence).

Beyond comprehension, the moochers of the universe, elected politicians, their bureaucratic lackeys, de-sanitized homeowner watchers, all are allowed without too much resistance to massage the pocketbooks of their captors. Every Marxist leader (Lenin, Stalin, Khrushchev) has said, in speaking of Western Civilization, that each democracy will fall when it's officials realize they can live well off the enslaved. It is simply a matter of staying in power. It is simply a matter of keeping your political party in power. It is simply a matter of buying off any interference or by the scare tactic of political correctness, threats of being called a racist, become a pacifist because it is “nice” to turn the other cheek. As far as the eye can see, your children and grandchildren are up to their eyeballs in debt ($50 trillion, social security, military, civil service, retirements, $12 trillion federal debt, $250,000 indebtedness for each American man, woman and child). The American experiment, once the envy of the globe, like the Christian church, once the last hope of the globe, are both in a climate of despair, mostly of our own choosing. When will we learn to stand up for God, family and country and keep our hard earned heritage from the moochers preying upon us?

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

God Bless America -
