Utopia

Utopia

Charles Dickens described my lifetime as "the best of times, the worst of times" (Tale of Two Cities). This writer lived through Elvis, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, the Bush's 41 and 43, even Clinton and Obama. Before zippers, plastic, synthetic fibers, we thought things were bad during WWII- this was a time when patriotism was real, small business as well as the church, were real. Politicians-bureaucrats-pastors knew that financial largess came from producers, not government employees. Those who solicit funds for colleges, "do-gooder organizations" always hit the small business man, small farmer. Never, never, do you find a government official-employee-bureaucrat, making a gift of any size to charity. Those living off the hard work of others, always take care of themselves. In my lifetime, not only have I seen the entrepreneur, the Christian harassed and debased, but seen a multiplicity of citizen dependency on government, not even including the entitlements of social security, Medicare, college grants, grants to scientific organizations, etc. 100 million American's now depend on government welfare. About half the population pays no tax and yet, one half the population lives off the taxes and hard work of the other half. This is what happens when utopia goes bizerk.

Powerful, the last thing Jesus did on earth was show his love-salvation to a guilty repentant thief hanging on the cross next to him. "But the mercy of the LORD [is] from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them" (Psalm 103:17-18). Basic Christianity, basic faith, "action based on belief sustained by confidence." The greatest things we can do on earth is what we do for others, "hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick, prison, "One of the least of these you have done it unto me" (Matthew 25:36). Love through actions for a fellow man is an individual, not a government responsibility. "I have spoken [it], I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed [it], I will also do it" (Isaiah 46:11). "The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, [so] shall it stand" (Isaiah 14:24). In the council chambers of eternity, God purposed everything in this world that has come to pass and will yet happen. We are thankful for both the valleys and the hills, trials as well as triumphs. The MYTH OF EVOLUTION extends to history and sociology just as it does to science. David, a man from God's own heart (Acts 13:22). David, a man who knew he was made "my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them" (Psalms 139:16).

God, omnipotent-sovereign of the universe, a purpose in everything, knowing that man would "wrestle" (Eph 6) against the powers of evil in the world, sent a line of absolutes, good and evil (absolutes of molecular weights, laws of motion, notes of music, chemical equations) to give man the knowledge that "he is boss," in control of everything.

The garden in which man and woman were made was perfect-beautiful in every way. Just one tree, man showed his nature to sin-selfishness, pride, ingrate.

In my lifetime, no better example than the end time of life...the no resuscitation order. The P.O.L.S.T (physicians order for suspending treatment) should be carefully considered and more carefully used. A younger patient has a remarkable ability to recover, the human body has a remarkable ability to heal itself. For the older patient, families and trust departments so anxious to divide their things-stuff with each other as well as the government. Over and over we hear the words, "They would not want to live in their condition." The sign outside the gates of Auschwitz, work camps-death chambers read "Work makes you free." The sign before the place where 275,000 disabled were killed, "They would want it this way." With the Nazi's or the neo-ethicists, removing life support was not reversible.

Perhaps this writer lived through America's utopia, opportunity-jump from poverty, the time when you could get your education on your own, build your business on your own, enjoy life without government controls on your own, a compilization of life's resources, resulting in Paul's admonition, "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice." And when we could not rejoice, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phl 4:10).

Zwieback

It was my first trip to Germany, not that long after WWII and the Korean conflict. At the time I still had some vision in the left eye. West Berlin was well under restoration, even then on the Ku'damm (Kurfurstendamm) there were beautiful stores, prosperous-appearing people. The great Kaiser Wilhelm Cathedral was still in ruins (now, a memorial), but they had built the great Europa Center. At the hotel, I met an American Jewish couple from Minneapolis, who had survived Auschwitz, both still had their numbers tattooed on their arms. They were sent to the Nazi prison camp as children in 1938, so they were both about my age. The one thing that has always amazed me about people who had undergone such horrendous treatment...they could still laugh. He was in the wholesale plumbing business, manufacturing garbage disposals, and they had been very successful.

They asked me to go to East Germany with them, where they had been reared as children. This was the first time I went through Checkpoint Charlie, even though I went through it several times. I still have not forgotten the growling dogs on leashes, the mirrors looking under the vehicle. The vehicle and driver checked totally before we were allowed to proceed, as if someone would want to escape from West Germany to East Germany.

It was like black and white: West Berlin so prosperous, rebuilding; East Berlin still so destitute and destroyed. As the driver went down one street, this couple began to weep. She said, “this is the street on which we lived as children”. This was their first homecoming. After another block or two she began to shriek, there was an old lady on the street, walking with a cane. She said, “there is my aunt Sarah. I thought she was dead.” They got out of the car and I have never known such sobbing and hugging. The aunt had been to the store to buy Zwieback bread, she insisted that I eat a piece of the bread.

I remember Zwieback bread because my parents, probably from their European heritage, bought Zwieback for their children to eat when young, teething. The couple had lost contact with the aunt because in the craziness of Communism there was no way to investigate anything. The miracle: that the aunt still live closed by and just happened to be on the street at that particular time.

In everything, even in dealing with Nazism, Communism, the Holocaust...the mercies of the Lord endure forever (Psalm 118) This Psalm, 118, is exactly half way through the Bible, everything in God's Word on either side of this Psalm proves that the mercies of the Lord endure forever.

Another year, I met the same couple in South America, Rio de Janiero at the time of Carnival, I went with them to visit a friend from Auschwitz living in Rio, an artist/canvas-painter, I purchased two paintings from him, which I have since sold. As they told me, over and over, of the horrors of Auschwitz where most of their families were killed, they often quoted the words of Malcolm Muggeridge, “human life is always sacred.”

Life is a matter of looking back. Looking back, we know that many “so-called” facts in science and history were wrong, but at the time it was the only knowledge they had. Looking back, Jews, even American Jews, understand the ambitions of Nazism, just as the Jews, following the orders of Joshua (he, following the orders of God) marched around the fortress city of Jericho, they had no idea what they were doing. They learned that you trust...to obey is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22).

Looking back, we will see that “homeland security” began in Nazi Germany. Every time you go through inspections, scanning, remember that it began in Nazi Germany. The poisons from chem-trails in the air, fluoride in your drinking water, leeching toxins from plastics, your lack of ozone which purifies the earth, totalitarianism, it all began in Nazi Germany. Safety is not the absence of danger, but the presence of God. You can always look backwards and see the hand of God.

In my youth, our country church, and even the churches in the city, were the refueling stations for the soul...Sunday best, the mantle of the God. Looking back, only a mental midget would say that things have changed for the better, only for the worst, life on the farm or in the city, school, college, the church. Colleges counting numbers instead of making numbers count, in most churches you do not even see a Christian cross, political life is a matter of compromise, you do what the big boys want or you are sacrificed...the monetary fund official accused of rape, the big boys were finished with him (him wanting to become the president of France) as well as Schwarzenegger, as well as bin Laden, as well as Gaddafi.

In every Marian apparition, whether Lourdes (1858), Fatima (1917), Guadalupe (1531), and all the others, it was always peasants who had the vision. The church verified the supernatural, and millions visit the sights every year. We know about the miracles at Lourdes and yet there are over 200 tourist traps lining the roads, selling everything imaginable, even a Virgin Mary cigarette lighter. Looking backward, we know that God moves in mysterious ways; His wonders to performs. (Hymn, William Cowper)

Pearl Harbor Day

Today is Pearl Harbor Day, the day we remember what happened 69 years ago, when the Japanese armed forces attacked American military bases at Pearl Harbor in the Hawaiian islands. A day which FDR said, “would go down in infamy.” Like this year, I remember that the weather was very cold in December, I was at my grandparent's home, listening to a small radio in the “sitting room”. Homes, out in the country, only had one room with a wood stove, other than the kitchen. Everyone sat in that room, and the more affluent families, even then, in the country owned a radio. Radio, then as now, was my conduit to the world's knowledge. I had just turned 11, and wish my mind was as sharp now as it was then. I announced to those in the sitting room, “the Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor.” Most of them had never heard of Pearl Harbor, paid absolutely no attention to anything I said about the attack. It was after they heard the President's address to Congress that they realized that America was involved in another war.

One of the our founding fathers, George Mason, said, “nations can only be rewarded or punished in this world; individuals in the world to come.” There is nothing more horrible than warfare. It is only those who have walked that thin line between life and death, that know what it is all about. The eugenicist, rich, powerful, Ted Turner, said recently, at the Cancun conference on population control, “the entire world should adopt the Chinese system, limiting each family to one child.” Many believe it is the excess population of the world that leads to war, and that war is the answer to population control. That false flags of despotism to provoke nations into war.

The world has become so politically correct, so dumbed down by the mediocrity found in media, that most refuse to give any conflict the common sense test. Did FDR, as some in his cabinet have confessed, actually have a knowledge of the oncoming attack, which he needed in order to involve America in the European war. It is surprising how many Americans believe that the attack on America, September 11th (9/11) was another false flag, internal involvement. Just as the Patriot Act, an internal act of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, to involve America in Middle East war. Just as the Murrah building in Oklahoma City, many questions are asked because much of the activity does not make any sense. Americans are just spoon fed an explanation which, enabled by an obedient, controlled media, we are expected to accept. Perhaps the recent fascination with WikiLeaks, our expectation that the worst is yet to come, deception, coverups, even the fact that much of the material will contain information on UFOs.

It was WWII, money spent on the military-industrial might of fighting that war, that pulled America out of the Great Depression. It is known that George Surrows, Mr. Obama's chief financier, owns much of the stock in the companies manufacturing the scanners for airports. Michael Chertoff, set up much of the apparatus for the patriot act. Now, he is trying to sell the idea of scanning Americans, taking away whatever privacy we had left. It has become a matter of humiliation, taking away your dignity, basic decency. A police state defending the indefensible.

One of the more interesting couples I have met in my life was a Jewish couple form Minneapolis, that I met in South America. They had met in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany, later married in America. Both still had the tattoos of their concentration camp slavery. One night at an outside nightclub, I was sitting with them and they were describing the semi-nudity of the dancers. They said, “the first thing you had to accept in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany was deprivation of privacy. They would strip you anywhere, anytime. If they could destroy your intimate, private decency as a human being, they had destroyed you as a person.”

I once asked one of my friends, a black doctor at the army hospital, “why is it that the black patients have no embarrassment about nudity? Do not seem to value their intimate privacy?” He said, “it is a matter of rearing, you are not familiar with the rearing of black children. In the black home, the father, the mother will walk around naked. Intimacy, privacy, embarrassment is unknown in most black homes.” I believe this is the reason there is never any outcry from the blacks about such matters as searching, scanning, exposure. For most Americans, when all privacy is gone, individual decency, the constitution has been thrown out the window. It has already been disclosed that just ahead, everyone will be scanned before getting on a cruise ship, train or even entering the subway.

Some pea-brained, patriot act bureaucrats believe that only citizens who have had every vestige of privacy taken away from them that they must stand naked before the world to prove that they are not a terrorist. In the recent, communist-installed system of fear, fear of profile, we are willing to destroy every value we have left in order not to offend or profile a terrorist. If I were a terrorist, I would dress as a middle east terrorist, you can be sure that the American bureaucrat is too broad-minded to inspect and suspect me.

Traveling the world, (eight around the world trips, passport stamps in 157 countries) I saw and experienced police state tyranny...Seychelles Islands, Liberia. In an airport in Lagos, Nigeria, I was sitting with a British ambassador, both of us waiting for a plane to Europe. A female peace corp worker had escaped Charles Taylor's Liberia. She was in a state of absolute psychological trauma, she said, “any uniformed military person had the right to strip anyone naked, and examine them for contraband. I had gotten out of that country because I so object to my luggage being taken out of the vehicle, down to the ground and rummaged through by the same type people.” In all my years of working in hospitals, people in a state of shock but still walking, this girl was in the worst condition I have ever encountered.

She wrote me later that if it had not be for me, sitting next to her on the plane, counseling her, talking with her, relieving her of all this anxiety, she could never have made it back to America as a sane person. Are we turning TSA, law enforcement in this country into such thugs? Are today's parents willing to see their children subjected to such indignity? Are those Americans entombed on those ships in Pearl Harbor dead for nothing as others buried in sacred military soil around the world?

Are Americans ready to get off the crazy train? Have we forgotten how to be concerned? Have we forgotten how to blush? Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? Nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall (Jeremiah 6:15, Jeremiah 8:12)
