Beau Brummel Persona

Beau Brummel, patron saint of man's sartorial splendor around 1778 was a good friend of a future king of England. He taught the young king how to dress appropriately. Beau Brummel supposedly took 5 hours to dress everyday, even shined his boots with champagne. The British male, more or less set the standard for male sartorial persona, Fleet Street bankers, members of the English nobility.

On a trip to the Antarctic, I shared quarters with a Fleet Street banker from London. Some of the ladies on the ship asked me if he wore a tie with his pajamas...he was always so immaculately dressed. He dressed for success. I learned enough about him, his homes, his vehicles, his reputation in Britain to assure you that he was, in every way, a success.

In 1990, following the lead of America's Wall Street, the bankers of Fleet Street and other British bankers and financiers started the same miserable habit, casual Friday. It was a complete failure, everyone knows how dress up, but very few know how to dress down...sweatsuits, gym clothing, pajamas, etc. On one television program I heard Oprah say that she traveled in pajamas. If you are the world's richest woman you could travel in most anything and no one would care. I understand that she dresses appropriately in front of the public's photographers (television, magazines, other appearances).

I thank God that I never saw my mother or grandmother in slacks. They wore dresses and an apron around the house, but when they went anywhere to be seen in public, they were appropriately dressed, mostly “Sunday” clothes. Slacks were introduced in 1942 on the cover of Life Magazine. I never had a female schoolteacher or college professor who wore slacks. Back in the 40s and 50s, some high school girls did wear jeans. There was a time when people dressed for church, funerals, weddings, you even dressed appropriately for a civic club, country club, golf club. Great golfers such as Bobby Jones or Babe Zahares knew how to dress on the golf links.

My parents were just dirt farmers, but before they went to town, to the lawyer's office, the doctor, anywhere, they knew how to dress. I can still remember my mother, beautifully dressed, going to our activities at the public school. You do not dress for comfort, you own your own power, you do not hide under your own clothing. Why go through all the years of education and preparation, to destroy it all with your appearance? You do not change first impressions. Beau Brummel said that a man wears an understated, but well-fitted tailored clothing including dark suits and full-length trousers adorned with a striking tie.

If you want to dress down, just dress for comfort, wear a Djellaba as in Africa, or a Dhoti or sari as in India. Even in Africa or India, you can always tell an expensive African or Hawaiian Muumuu and an expensive Indian sari. I think I would have to “take a pill and lie down” if I ever saw a woman enter a church in a pant suit, but I understand that it happens. Don't women understand that it is gays (homosexuals), that have designed their clothing for the last 50 years. They have gotten rid of all femininity and encased them in unflattering boxes and sacks. Don't women realize that the homosexual coiffures of their hair are the same “queens” who designed haute couture apparel for them. You are in their clutches for stealing for the real males who may be attracted to a woman. Like a tsunami, word has traveled around the world that in order to be successful, male or female, you must dress for success, even women executives will wear well-tailored pant suits.

School teachers have told me that students perform better when well-dressed. I am the world's proponent of uniforms in school. Why not just let your military servicemen dress “in just any ol' way they choose”, individually? No discipline, no gravitas, no limitations of any type. I understand that some preachers actually go into the pulpit in jeans and t-shirts, this must be a stench in the nostrils of God. One pastor traveled along distance to ask me advice on correcting the dress of people in his church. I said, “you need a back door revival.” You have unsaved people who do not dress even for the worship of almighty God.

When I was in professional school, all medical, dental, optometry, nursing, all professions, even the lawyers wore shirts and ties to class. I understand that some seminaries do not have a dress code...are the just trying to tempt the hand of an omnipotent sovereign?

In today's job market, in today's quest for sexual identity, let the perverts dress in drag, let the perverts tattoo and pierce themselves, lets the gays wear long feminine hair, the lesbians wear short, butch hair...let them look like trash. They don't care, they are only concerned with their short life here on this planet. The redeemed of the Lord say so. (Psalm 107) In spirit, word, dress we are his workmanship (Ephesians 2:10). We are what we are.

I never leave my house without a dress shirt and tie, usually a jacket, always polished shoes. It is not just your haircut, not just a clean shave, not just your smell, your attitude, but you and you alone know how much you think of yourself.

Self Enslavement

Today is the beginning weekend of the 64th annual North Carolina Azalea Festival. This is the time in the Tarheel state, when thousands up and down the eastern seaboard come to this port city for the celebration of beauty: azaleas, dogwoods, flowers. Beauty given to all those who have eyesight, an opportunity for the wealthy in the community to have lavish parties, an opportunity for the poor of the community to stand in the streets and watch limousines go by transporting the rich and famous.

John Lennon, one of the famous Beatles said, “life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.” Many of my neighbors here make plans for this extravagance the entire year.

Last week, they buried one of the world's most famous actresses, Elizabeth Taylor. She had seven husbands, beauty, children, fame and wealth beyond compare. She left instructions that at her funeral, the casket would be brought in 15 minutes after the service had started, she always wanted to “fashionably late”. Much younger, much more naive, in the spirit of worldly activities and especially with a wife, I had to learn to be fashionably late because I had been reared on the farm where everything you did, the earlier the better. In the military, everything was early; in my eight years of university education, you learned to be on time. Lateness, improvising we both worldly lessons.

In my climb up the ladder of success, I owned a very nice pied-a'-terre (a home away from home) on the most prestigious street in Manhattan. It was a wonderful launching pad for my trips around the world, socializing with United Nations officials. When the co-op apartment was sold, I left my home in North Carolina and went to New York to sign the necessary papers. In the lawyer's office, there was just the female buyer and her father who was going to give me a check for the apartment. The very attractive young women said, “this is another gift to me from my father. When I graduated from the university I told my parents I was moving to the Big Apple for the two “l”s: labels and love. I love nice labels, big stores, big designers. I have not found the big love, but I am looking for the designer husband. I want to have designer children and a designer home, so I can spend my life with only the finest. Dr. Morris, I love what the world has to offer, and I don't need to be bothered by mediocrity.” I felt her gaze because I knew she considered me mediocre, inferior. Anyways, all I was there for was to get a nice check.

It does not take long to become self-enslaved and even less time to recognize who is self-enslaved: enslaved to the values of the world, enslaved to satanic forces of evil, enslaved in a desperate attempt to keep up with money and things. We are so eager to believe lies, lies told by the world. I have often said to the liberals, those in maddening lock-step to destroy all the basic values of the world: when the world, when the government has lied to you so much, how can you believe anything they tell you?

Just this morning, on one national news broadcast: “there are many dead dolphins, already counting 400, in the Gulf of Mexico. It is not known if the BP oil spill had anything to do with their death.” (Can you believe such nonsense on the air? Of course the oil spill killed the marine life!) “In Libya, the protestors are having difficulty fighting Gaddafi's forces.” (Of course they are having difficulty fighting Gaddafi's armed forces, there is gun control in these police states. Just imagine a group of disgruntled citizens, tired of corruption, tired of enslavement, from the outskirts of your city, weaponless, taking on the government- controlled law enforcement of any municipality or state...people with no military training, no methods or weapons for fighting, none of the supply lines, etc. to stay in the fight.) “The best way for old people to have a long life is to be a retail shopper, it has been found that those who shop daily, live longer.” (Can you imagine such ludicrous news? Of course old people who have the energy to go into stores, fighting the traffic to get there and fighting the traffic when there, having the money to buy, having the eye sight, hearing, mobility to get around will most assuredly outlive those who do not have these assets.)

Most of us love flattery, the best sound on earth is your own name. Most women and some men thrive on the latest fashions, slick magazines telling you what you need in designer everything, latest clothes, latest phrases, latest gourmet. Even at the church, and most “nice people” do belong to a church, just a sprinkling of religion...sophisticated preacher, sophisticated instruments and choir, absolutely, absolutely nothing about sin's ruin and redemption through Jesus Christ. “What do you think I am, a fanatic?” Real faith, real worship, a real evangelical experience belongs to the “holy rollers”. Who wants to be enslaved by a commitment to a transformed life of new creation, rebirth by salvation through Jesus Christ? (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Parents' ultimate responsibility is the passing on of your belief system to your children. Satan can hardly wait to exact his magic on them, just as soon as he can get hold of them, certainly when they leave home for college. Satan wants your children, and once Satan has enslaved them, your chances of ever retrieving them from the morass of the world's value system is remote. The average Christian home, the average Christian church, the average Christian college is not easily recognized by the Christian or non-Christian as being different. It is time to start thinking about our value system, our enslavement to the world.

There are 35 million people living in Tokyo, Japan area, they are some of the world's most strategic planners and gainers of the world's value system. They love labels, big spending, big natural desires, most are eternally lost, having yielded to the world's value system. Most know nothing of God or Jesus Christ. The largest earthquake recorded has already hit close to this city, another is due for the city, just as a great earthquake is due for northwest America. In the final analysis, at the end of the road, individually or collectively, with these seismic events, which enslavement is more important, the world values or God's redemption? Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Fables

Just one of God's great gifts to the world, the inquiring minds of children. All children like stories, pity the child who does not have an adult in his life who takes the time to sharpen that child's ability to learn, to soak up knowledge, by telling the child stories. Some of the first stories most children learn, dating back to Greece (~600 B.C.) are Aesop's Fables, stories about characters and things, such as The Tortoise and the Hare.

I well remember my first grade schoolteacher's ability to make these fables come alive, I well remember my first Sunday school teacher, those small Sunday school cards with Bible story pictures. This is the way the education of children should begin, they will have plenty of time later on to establish their Christian ideals, their ideals gleaned from stories or fables. The great newspaper writer/editor Horace Greeley said, “you cannot enslave a Bible reading people.” The enslavement of people, entire nations, has come about where the Bible is not read...communist countries such as Russia, China, North Korea.

When you visit the 48 Islamic countries of the world, countries where the predominant religion is Islam, you soon find out what a philosophy of hatred and terrorism can do to a people. It's like going back several centuries: living standards from tribal traditions, satanic rules in the culture, women and children little more than slaves. Often, when I talk about the conditions in these countries, people who are uninformed think I am telling fables. It is no fable that these Islamic religionists, victims of the Koran, even when on a form of public conveyance (bus, taxi, etc), the driver will take his prayer rug out, put it on the ground outside the vehicle and pray. It is no fable for me to tell you that women on the street, are totally covered, peeking through veils, much like lace curtains, as they try to walk on the streets. It is no fable that there are never women working in stores, restaurants, that children, regardless of weather, are usually barefoot.

Now, Minister. Farrakhan's followers adapt to their surroundings. Because of the conflict in India between Hindus and Muslims, the Muslims fled to Pakistan...an inability of these two religions, as well as the Buddhist, to survive together when there are such a tremendous differences in worship, dress, diet and other lifestyles. There cannot be a reconciliation between many things, constant conflicts involving children, and particularly young people. America will learn, it is no fable that there are some things that cannot be compromised, reconciled, such as the amalgamation of races, racial traditions. The sexual perversion involved in the homosexual agenda cannot be reconciled with that of the Christian church, one will change. The homosexuals will become Christians or the church will become indolent, anti-Christ. No more than you can reconcile and compromise disease and health, you must be able to distinguish evil from good.

When the church, in the name of political correctness, in the absurd testimony of blending, loving evil, trying to get to the evil-doer, the church became powerless. Most churches today are a poor replica of a civic club. The lost modernist infiltrated minister/theologian, has assumed the role of potentate instead of pastor. To itching ears, it is easier and more popular to talk about actual and assumed fables, than the agony, an august word of God, sin's ruin and Christ's redemption.

From the very pits of hell itself, Satan has convinced the world to believe in certain fables, the fable of evolution, the fable of population control, the fable of climate control, the fable of acceptable human behavior. Satan would have all females tattooed, pierced, acting talking, smelling more like common prostitutes than feminine emblems of God's glory. When I was young, women wore gloves, women had delicate voices, not the rasping, narcotic type you hear today. When I was young, women were delicately modest...not loud, not addicted to smoking materials, unhealthy foods. You never heard of a woman who would take a drink; today, there are more women alcoholics than alcoholic men, more suicides among young females. When a man looks for a wife, if he is smart, and most men are at least that smart, he is not looking for a woman who looks, acts, and smells like trash from the street.

Much can be said for arranged marriages, as practiced in many parts of the world, as still practiced by many members of the Jewish race. One hundred years ago, a boy asked a father for the hand of his daughter in marriage. He was a man, he was asking for a father's most precious possession. A father, if he has any sense at all, should be concerned with whom his daughter leaves home, with whom his daughter leaves a college dormitory. I do not know of a father, one on either side of the tracks, a father in a rental house, or a father in a mansion overlooking the city, who should not be concerned about his daughter's welfare. Do not feel strange if you do not fit in the category of the basic male, don't feel strange if you do not have exceptional athletic ability, if you practice good hygiene, like good music, appreciate good books, have ambition to “set the world on fire”, because, you are an exceptional male.

Even if Africa's dark Congo, at a university where I was speaking, I met some young men who do not fit into the pattern of the “subhuman” African male. The male who does not care about how he looks, what he says, how he asks. Years ago, in the Congo, a new society was started of exceptional males, called Dandies, males who although poor, like to dress in an elegant way. They had to work hard, deny themselves many things in order to buy elegant clothes, but you could always spot them: elegantly dressed, elegantly dressed for success. Recently, a young man was on the porch of my beach house, having arrived to talk business with me, he said, “you are always dressed so well, always a jacket and tie.” I said, “this is me, you always see the real me. From the time I was a young person, I dressed for success.” It is no fable that you will get no higher than your aspirations. It is true that you can put lipstick on a hog, and it will still be a hog. But, God's chief creation, the men and women of this world are not hogs, the male and female gender of this world have the duty, the responsibility to dress elegantly and to act decently, honoring those around them in respect to their parents and ancestors, and in obedience to a sovereign God who wants them as a favorite not a fable. You are what you think you are, you are not a fable.

You who have dreams, if you act they will come true.
To turn your dreams to a fact, it's up to you.
If you have the soul and the spirit,
Never fear it, you'll see it thru,
Hearts can inspire, other hearts with their fire,
For the strong obey when a strong man shows them the way.
Give me some men who are stout-hearted men,
Who will fight, for the right they adore,
Stout Hearted Men - Romberg
