Axiomatic Statements
"All scripture
[is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God
may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
I do not
know why God does things as he does. HE IS BOSS. HE IS IN CHARGE. From a long life of trusting his word (God can
not lie, is more concerned about his word than we are) I have found that he
does his marvelous work only after I have done my part. Shakespeare's Hamlet,
Act 6-Scene 5, Laertes said, "I demand justice." Most of us deserve
justice but do not want it. Most do not comprehend the "worth" of the
Christian life.
When I was
a young professional, before the time of big medicine, big Pharma (big Pharma
and big medicine do not make money from dead people) before the time of
warehousing old sick people, sucking every dime possible out of them, the
doctor would say calmly, "Go home and get your affairs in order." It
must depress-disgust God that he has given us so much, that the
Christian life is so uncomplicated, just tough...a matter of trusting God,
trust our faith to the faith of Christ. There are no new truths, just old
truths which we need to rediscover. Simple, do not murder, do not steal, do not
lie, honor father and mother, etc. We need a "Noah faith", obeying
God, he started driving nails. To obey is better than sacrifice. (1 Samuel 15:1).
I never
cease to be amazed that the church world does not seize upon the opportunity of
using the concerns of the secular world. A measure of our liberty in Christ
always captured by the world flesh Devil. Church leaders are like republican
leaders, just cowards. Why should we not say with loud voices, "Our
nation, indeed the world, has already GONE OVER THE CLIFF." ? A
Nation-world in bankruptcy. In America,
Hell bent on becoming Godless-communist, one half the population lives off the
other half. The recent caldron of concern about "spending and
taxation" resulted in a 41-1 increase in taxation to spending. We went
over the academic, business cliff....exchanged prayer for police in schools,
sent jobs abroad and they will never return. The heartbreak of my life (totally
blind, 100% disabled, medical officer veteran), young people, even in my
family, hard work of them and their parents (they paid their own way, no grants
or subsidizing) to gain a college education and then no jobs available,
anywhere. How can a nation with 230 years history COME so far so quick to FALL
so far so fast? A nation to whom the world gives credit for technology,
progress in healthcare, advances in every area of living.
Same, a
nation which sent out 90% of the world's Christian missionaries. We went over
the spiritual cliff when modernists-agnostics-socialists took over entire
denominations-churches deciding that Madison Avenue and man know more than
God's word...the uniqueness of the church. Preaching about sins ruin and Christ
redemption, news media and mega churches replaced by sophisticated pew warmers
reciting prayers and creeds. Living epistles can not pretend, "written not
with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in
fleshy tables of the heart" (2
Corinthians 3:3). So simple: "For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:10). The only righteousness
that concerns God is his righteousness. If we have the spirit of Christ, we
have the mind of Christ....can not be pretended...not fooling self or others.
There is no neutral ground. America,
state controlled news media, everyway-everyday, leading in the destruction of
Christianity. The republican party, once a source of strength to conservatives
has become insignificant, slow suicide. Most people live in a world of make
believe, want to believe in a fat man in red pajamas coming down their chimneys
with gifts. The harsh reality with what has happened will come when we are
forced to kneel to government controls or go to jail.
God wanted
this writer to sense the world. Though blind, God enabled me to travel every
continent. I learned early that no one in America, not even my own family
cares but I know what totalitarianism is all about. Like people on the antique
road show, so surprised that we posses treasures all the while. This
antiquarian book collector has found more valuable treasures in old books,
books which people had owned for a long time and practically gave away (old
stamps, old letters, etc.) We must return to God's old book. Repose and
reflections can come from David's Psalm 37. When God says something twice, you
better pay attention. He tells his chosen, those who are saved, those who are
his, "fret not." "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither
be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.(Psalm 37:1) Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give
thee the desires of thine heart." (Psalm
37:4) Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring
[it] to pass. (Psalm 37:5)
The
children of Israel lived
through the plagues of Pharaoh's Egypt. Saints "of whom the
earth is not worthy" (Hebrews 11:38)
have lived through brutal regimes. Those of us from Eastern
North Carolina know the trials and tribulations of our own
ancestors, which they lived through. In China, many other places in the
world, the church grows during persecution. Again, it must depress-disgust
God that the 20th century church became "God's beggar." For God to be
God he does not need anything, does not beg for anything. We need him, he does
not need us. Yet, the 20th century church BEGS people to attend a worship
service to God, a prayer service to God, offerings to God.
Long ago,
army, another military medical officer, colonel Tuohy, a very gentle man, his
hobby, photography. Expensive camera, tripod, he would work for hours
photographing one flower, many angles, light just right. Color film for the
average person was a new thing back then. (Kodachrome film became available for
purchase in the 1950's, color movies, etc.) I will never forget the day that he
showed me the spectacular print of a beautiful pink rose. He said, "Look
at the color, the texture of the rose, the drop of dew on the rose. Only a
magnificent, omnipotent designer could design such....the flowers which I
photograph did not happen by accident. Tom, you are right. My life is now
changed. I know the magnificent-magnanimity of the creator.
