Barrel of Snakes

In 1948, the year that this writer graduated from high school, George Orwell wrote his famous book Nineteen Eighty-Four. In the book, Orwell describes how a government (and people) can have a virus of insanity: “up” means “down”, “black” means “white”.

It was after the Korean conflict, I was in the nation's capital, having been honored by the Army. Since I had lost most of my vision, a Congressional assistant walked me into the Senate chamber, thinking he might introduce me to at least one of my Senators, from the Senate gallery he said, “on the floor right now is Senator Kerr Scott, your former Governor, that man could fall through a barrel of fish hooks and never get scratched. Washington knows him for being that crooked, that slimy.” Of course, I remembered from when he was governor, the famous paper bags of $20 bills that were taken into his office and left there, if you expected any attention from him. I remembered his son, later governor, Bob Scott, and the same tales. His daughter (Commissioner of Agriculture) did not get by with the “crookedness” of her father and grandfather, she went to jail.

It is so easy to get attached to the treasure/idols of this world. You can be sure that someone will try to rob you. This very day, the latest scam, men calling, trying to speak English, attempting to get information about your banking or securities account. In the background of the boiler room, you can hear many voices on phones attempting to get the information required to hack your account. Hacking has become the most popular and profitable activity in the world's economy and news gathering operations. Wikileaks led the way, now everyone is involved for profit and promotion. Billionaire Rupert Murdoch and his son James are testifying before the British parliament, so scarce was the security that Murdoch's Chinese wife Wendi Deng had to protect him. One whistle-blower found murdered in England, but it seems to be of no significance to the police. Another, a woman, was found hanging naked from a balcony with her hands tied behind her back, two days after her son's death. The clueless police thought that it was suicide. According to Orwell's book, the clock is striking thirteen. The halls of our nations capital are filled with stock brokers dealing with politicians.

Democrats have had a gain of 750% in their stock portfolios, Republicans a gain of 168%. President Obama's net worth was $300,000 in 2004, $9 million in 2009. Tom Harkin, Senator from Iowa, was worth $2 million in 2004, $16 million in 2009. Nancy Pelosi's net worth has increased from $13 million to $124 million, she is now ranked 6th in the House by net worth. Go to http://governmentgonewild.org/thelist and http://www.opensecrets.org/ to read more of our Congressional leaders' financial gains. Senators and congress people who make a salary of $174,000 a year, cannot wear $3,000 suits...their constituents wear suits bought from thrift stores. Politicians, like their fellow heathen idol worshipers, adhere to things that are sticky and shiny. As worthless as it is, fiat money really sticks to the hands of wrongdoers. It is so much easier to polish the apple, shine your charisma, than put in the hard work which God has always required of His disciples. 59% of the American people depend on incentives, retirement checks, subsidies of some sort.

The chief of police in West Point, New York retired and moved to this town into a house next to mine. Of course, I learned long ago that no one cares that I lost my eyesight serving in the military for this country. He said to me, and I will never forget the words, “you are such a fool, spending all that time in school, going to war for a country which despises you and will never do anything for you. I started out as a rookie policeman, writing tickets, kissing ass, and retired as chief. I get over $200,000 a year in retirement, you have already told me that you get practically nothing, still work everyday, and I see you stumbling around all the time. Every police officer, every civil service worker is retired at the height of their pay, taking into consideration sick leave, vacations, and bonuses. I am retired with better healthcare, better everything than you fools who thought you were serving your country.”

America has produced a defective crop of citizens, something for nothing. One woman was working for me, who had many problems at home, bills to pay, a child to raise. She said, “I need $500. I want this money from you, and if you do not give me the money I am going to accuse you of molesting me.” This has happened twice. When I laughed and told the two women to get out my house, one of them, Sandy Scott, picked up a book, threw it at me, hit me on the head and ran out. I called the police, and right after that call, one of my friends called me (Joe Pascal), evidently he had a premonition of something and he called the police also. In this town, even with murder, the police do nothing. In cases such as this, in cases of thievery (and I have many of those), in case of break-ins, the police do nothing except draw their nice paychecks and ride back and forth to their homes in cars for which our taxes pay.

Most of us work continuously/contagiously, like slaves in order to pay exorbitant taxes. At one Army hospital where I was on the staff, about once a year, the pharmacy cleansed its stock. As the pharmacy officer told me, “we throw away millions of dollars in drugs and other pharmacy products which could certainly be used.” He said, “one day the world will know what our blessed Lord was talking about when he called the deceiving Pharisees, who thought they were so religious and patriotic, snakes and vipers.” Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Matthew 23:33)

Bottom Line

There is one thing that every responsible adult faces, except of course those that are not responsible, those content just to hibernate on welfare, living off the work of others (47% of the 308 million population do not pay any income tax at all). All these hard-working, God-fearing, tax-paying people have one thing in common: the bottom line.

If in business, farming, are you making more than it costs you to stay in business, stay on the farm? Or, like the government, federal, state, local, are you just going in the hole, deeper and deeper? The difference between the private sector and the public sector, you cannot continue to operate at a loss. The private business man cannot tax others to pay for his losses. You cannot put a toll on a bridge or highway, and charge those who never use a bridge or highway, as does the government. The government does not give up on getting everything it can out of you until there is no breath or pulse in your mortal body.

One of the more popular radio shows in the 1950s, Duffy's Tavern, Archie, the bartender, said to Ms. Duffy, “what is wrong with your father.” She said, “I don't know, he just broods and drinks bourbon.” Archie said, “what is he brooding about.” Ms. Duffy said, “the price of bourbon.”

In looking at the globe, there are bottom lines everywhere. Mr. Obama and the liberals are rejoicing about the new nuclear control treaty...that there will be inspectors on the ground. Have they forgotten about the inspectors, on the ground, in North Korea, Iran, Russia? Again, it is pay-off time for the North Korean sicko, South Korea seems to have paid him off with train-loads of grain for his starving people. He had intimidated South Korea in recent years about many things, blowing up their ships, their islands. South Korea is brave again...100,000 lights on a 98 foot high Christmas tree right on a mountain by the 38th parallel.

The November elections mean nothing to democrats and RINO republicans. Mr. Obama, the Sunni Muslim, communist promoter of evil, sweeping into his corner such Republicans as Senator Richard Burr, voting for allowing gays and lesbians access to everything in the military. Representative Barney Frank, the world's best known queer, again listed by Judicial Watch as one of the most corrupt politicians in Washington, states that it would be discriminating for the straights in the military not to shower with the gays.

Bottom line, 2010's ten most corrupt Washington politicians: Barbara Boxer, John Ensign (only Republican), Barney Frank, Jesse Jackson Jr., Barack Obama, Rahm Emmanuel, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Rangel, Hal Rogers, Maxine Waters. (Judicial Watch, 2010). Again, this year, your President, your Speaker of the House, two of the ten most corrupt politicians in Washington DC.

Again, the health of the nation's citizens hanging in the balance. Eating food that is lacking nutrition, obesity because the body stays hungry for nutrition, health problems because of toxicity from medications and cheap food stuffs. The need for such elements as magnesium and potassium in the system which only comes from organic farming. Mr. Obama, Big Farming and Big Pharma's attempt to control agriculture, food supplies, farming, all now under FDA supervision, leading to the elimination of organic farming, gardening and eating. Again, Senator Burr swept into the Obama trash can. The bottom line, your government is seeking to starve you on your way to the enslavement camp.

The KGB in Russia, controlled the fax machine as well as the xerox copier. The FCC is now made up of even more control-freak communists than the KGB. They will not be satisfied until the internet is totally controlled or taxed out of existence. Inconceivable, the world before the internet, information once sent by copper wires, now by fiber optics.

If you want to know the bottom line, look at Houston, Texas. The first large city with a lesbian mayor, the nation's two largest churches together totaling 65,000 members, the world's largest abortion clinic outside of China. In Houston, retired CIA agent Roland Carnaby, shot in the back and killed by the Houston police, who had a laptop computer in his car containing vital information, probably because he was friends of ex-Presidents and other officials where trust was available. Like the predictions of the ice age, according to the Aztecs, spanning 2012-2040, like the nuclear START treaty at a time when many nations are ready to throw nuclear weapons around, nothing is making us safer or less stressed, certainly not the bottom line you cross when trying to travel on a plane.

In a few short months, you, a hard-working, tax-paying, God-fearing American citizen must be radiated and photographed naked in order to fly on a plane, you are much less safe in a nuclear world, you have seen your country's military forces weakened by Mr. Obama and his friends in the gay agenda. (When he signed the legislation there were so many gays, the signing ceremony had to be moved to an auditorium at the Department of Interior, larger than any White house facility).

Rare that you find any good news...rejoice that since 1979, some of the world's best scientists have been studying the shroud of Turin, knowing that there was some writing on the material. A Vatican scientist has found Jesus's death certificate from fragments of Greek, Latin and Hebrew writing. Scientists now feel that this cloth may have been used on the table at the Last Supper, and then used as the shroud for our blessed Lord. There is so much highly sophisticated science involving in interpreting all these results, air particles from the area and the tomb, etc. You will find this information downplayed on the back pages, but unsupported “life on mars” will be at the forefront of corrupt, disbelieving secular journalism.

As one who remembers the first zipper, the first plastic, the first margarine. In college we knew when a professor knew what he was talking about, if he didn't, we called his comments just a “snow storm”. Climate changes affecting the bottom line of the world started on May 18th: sunspots, BP chemicals, changes in Jet stream and Gulf Stream. The European winter is so treacherous this year, they wanted to cancel Christmas. In the American northern hemisphere, west coast rain, northern blizzards, 32 degree (freezing) weather in Cuba.

Homeland security's new mantra, “if you see something, say something”. I experienced peepholes in Moscow and China. Einstein never trusted anyone checking him, even in publication. Homeland security reports there are 9,000 federal buildings where Americans can “snitch” on one another. The bottom line, your country has been taken over without a shot being fired. The bottom line, is this country you intended on leaving your children? The bottom line, eternal welfare for you, your children, your neighbors.

Oasis

Into each life some rain must fall
But too much is falling in mine
Into each heart some tears must fall
But some day the sun will shine

(Sung by Ella Fitzgerald)

Those of us in the sunset years can still hear Ella Fitzgerald singing this marvelous song. There has always been such a disparity in life. For instance, one-half block from my house, taxpayers have spent millions for a river walk, I have never been on it. It is the sighted folks who enjoy river walks, bicycle trails, parks, libraries, concert halls. The country's largest minority, the disabled, are just expected to keep working and pay taxes.

If anything could affect my relationship with God, it would be the uneven “playing field” of life. Because, through the eyes of the world, not through God's eyes, things seem so unfair, the word fairness is not found in the scripture, rather “God is Boss”. He expects us to thrive because of His sovereignty.

The true oasis is found in desert areas of the world, you can ride for many miles, just sand, and then, all of a sudden you find a small area of arid land, trees, flowers, a watering hole. Can one even imagine the splendor of this place to people living in the hot sand of a desert.

Reared in poverty stricken eastern North Carolina (if eastern North Carolina from Highway 95 to the ocean were a state, it would be the poorest state in the union), farm people who worked hard the entire week, on a Saturday afternoon, would find an oasis at the country crossroads, where usually was located a country store where ice was available, cold drinks, snacks, this was usually the location of the country school. Always, without exception, the location of large ball-fields, this was the gathering place, on Saturday, of farm families, where younger men could play baseball, the old men could watch, the women could visit. There was usually areas where children could play games, this was the oasis of the poor people, both rural and urban. You could always hear one say to the other, I'll see you in church tomorrow, another oasis/escape for the hard-working people of the world. The wealthy have their country clubs, their golf courses, their swimming pools, and I suppose you could call this an oasis for the elitists.

In the world of the jet-set, I have had the privilege of sticking my nose into a few jet-set extravaganzas. I am not one of these people, just an observer, just passing through. On the Island of Majorca, in the Mediterranean, an island which you can always identify by their many windmills. A beautiful resort island of mountain retreats, and coastal, lavish hotels. One older man at one of these hotels, plainspoken, “nouveau riche” (newly rich), took a liking to me because I was someone who could never identify him (I have been totally blind since the Korean war). He had developed and owned the manufacturing company for a milk container, he had sold the engineering patent, the company, to a large conglomerate. This multimillionaire and his wife, just spent their time traveling from one wealthy “watering hole” to another. Occupying the most expensive rooms, eating the most expensive food, playing tennis in the morning, golf in the afternoon, if a casino were available, he spent his evenings in the casino. He and his wife's lives were devoted to self-indulgence. He said, “I have already given my two children all the money they will ever need. It is up to them to do the rest.”

You find this type Americans and Europeans all over the world, I found that the Asians just enjoyed life at home, rich or poor. In Greece, I met a couple from St. Louis, two married lawyers, I later visited them in their home. He had been left a tremendous trust fund, and they spent their entire lives traveling and visiting wealthy friends. They ate out every meal, in fact, I do not believe there was a cook stove in their house.

On a ship to the Arctic, I made the acquaintance of a woman lawyer from Maryland, she told me that she spent her entire life traveling the world. I said, “you must have had a very successful practice.” She said, “no, I never practiced law. My father left me well off...he was extremely successful, made more money than any man I have ever known, he was a connector. Connected politicians at Washington and elsewhere with people of wealth. The people in Washington who think they are lobbyists, know nothing, they should have known my father.“

60 years ago, when I was in college, few graduates hankered for government jobs. Firstly, in North Carolina, you had to be a Democrat to get a government job, whether working on the highway or even teaching school. Not much has changed during the last one hundred years, you still have to have the Democrat county chairman's approval to even drive a school bus. But, salaries and job benefits cannot be surpassed by the private sector. As bad as the corrupt situation appears in North Carolina and most other states, perhaps the zenith in political corruption has taken place in the poor California town of Bell.

Oct 22 (Reuters Legal) - California's attorney general asked a state court on Thursday to appoint a monitor to oversee the finances of the city of Bell, California, which has been embroiled in a scandal over the excessive compensation of some of its former top officials.

Attorney General Jerry Brown's move came as eight current and former Bell officials, including its former city manager, who was paid a salary of nearly $800,000, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to public corruption charges.

The eight defendants, arrested on September 21, are collectively accused of bilking taxpayers in the blue-collar city of 40,000 out of roughly $5.5 million through excessive salaries, benefits and illicit loans of public money.

They were charged in nearly two dozen counts of misappropriating public funds, including salaries they received for "phantom" meetings that never occurred. Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley has called the scandal in Bell "corruption on steroids."

LINK: (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE69K3YU20101022)

In Bell, part-time city council members were earning $100,000 a year, City Manager Rizzo was arrested for conflict of interest and falsification of public records. It should not amaze anyone, included California attorney general Brown, now running for governor, again, ALL Democrats. Democrats have the art of corruption down to a science. But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth. (1 Timothy 5:6) Money brings pleasure, money gives man measures of comforts, but it is just dead people walking.

Perhaps the world's great Oasis is Washington, DC. News reports tell us that the nation's capitol has been little affected by this great
recession/depression...that expensive restaurants are full. Housing prices have continued high. There are more federal workers now than ever before, now ~2.7 million. Senator Sessions (R- Alabama) “Over the time that President Obama has been in office, we have lost 2.5 million free enterprise system jobs, and, yet, 500,000 federal government jobs have been added."

When I analyzed the street on which I live, a small southern port city. Like most coastal states, prime retirement areas for government employees. I think of those living on my street, a retired state department official, a retired county official, a retired state judicial official, etc. and as is the case in most places, all drawing healthy government checks.

A retired New York state police official, and they draw the best retirement checks known to man, told me, “I make more in retirement than I ever made in working”. This is the oasis of life for most retired government officials and workers, including former presidents, former senators, former judiciary, former congress persons, former military personnel. Do we actually think we can provide an oasis for everyone, when we conclude that we have $202 trillion dollars in entitlements, and $46 trillion to which the government is responsible in the current foreclosure fiasco? Because of the government monetary policy's lack of regulation, everyone working for government, banking systems, healthcare systems and anything else involving government regulations are now government employees.

They are rioting in France, protesting in England, bitter across America, everyone wanting an oasis. The oasis is a place of refreshing and comfort after the daily trials of hard work and free will. Life on this earth is short at best, most of us are content to wait out time of eternal joy.

City Life, Country Living (2009)

George Foreman, born in 1949, in Marshall, Texas, reared in the projects of Houston Texas, learned to box in a job corps program in Oregon and became two time world heavyweight boxing champion of the world. The father of ten children and each male child named George, Foreman has said that he has made more money from his grilling machine contracts than he made during his entire boxing career. The phrase I will remember most about George Foreman is that after he was converted, repented, and became a born again Christian, he said, “I feel that I have been raised from the dead.” This is certainly true because until he did repent and became a Christian he was truly dead.

The decisions of life, that we make daily, are very important but the most important decision any living human being will ever make is his decision about his eternal life.

I have heard, “tiny brained” people talk at length about things which were and are, in the general mode of everything, not important at all. Such dribble as the best kind of cereal when millions of children go to bed hungry at night. Such liberal dribble as the best restaurant in which to eat, when millions of hard working, tax-paying citizens, never eat in a restaurant. Recently, I heard a radio personality talk about a steakhouse at which you could eat for less then $200.

Recently, the entire city council of the city in which I live(Wilmington NC), returned from a political junket to Washington DC, where hundreds of dollars of tax-payer money was spent by these political crooks and their wives and husbands on meals which costs hundreds of dollars. I sent the attached email letter to the editor of the local newspaper about this decadent extravagance, while, at the same time, they were laying off police people and firefighters in this city because of the economy. Of course, the liberal newspaper (owned by New York Times) did not print the letter but copies were sent to opinion molders around the area, just as I am sending a copy to you. If nothing else, in the length and breath of the entire world, it explains to you why our country is in the condition it is in economically, this explains it to you, the unbelievably stupid decisions made by “so-called” leaders.

I am the first to admit as did the cartoonist J. R. Williams “I was born thirty years too soon.” I am a member of the old school, reared in the country, we did not buy anything until we could pay for it. We were glad to have a cook stove. We did not consider it elitist to cook outside with the flies and mosquitoes. When living in the country where everything was quiet, you could hear the frogs, you could actually see the sky and clouds, you could see the stars at night, you could smell the flowers on the wild vines on the roadside and in the woodlands, the most beautiful symphony in the world, was birds, chickens, the sound of the old fashion dinner bell at noon.

I thought it would be wonderful, to live in the city, where people did not have to get up so early to milk cows, to feed and water animals who do not know or care where they live, they just look forward to your attention. I am enthralled, by city people who want country living after they arrive in the city, cooking outside on a foreman grill, getting up early to exercise, complaining about noise, fumes from traffic and not being able to see the sky, day or night, from pollution even of parking lot lights. There is no abuse akin to the abuse to animals kept inside small apartments and houses, the annihilation of birds by heat and air conditioning. Even some city dwellers must have horses, ill kept in a rental stable. The restaurants, which have survived a depressed economy, festooned with “thousand dollar millionaires” who spend a large part of their income “eating out” because this is the big city thing to do. The very worst decision most country living reared citizens have made was the move into city life where they are enslaved by every form of taxation, license, permit, extraneous charges known to men.

The urbanization of America, the decision of intelligent, responsible citizens to desert the fresh air and sunshine of the countryside with its smaller, more capable schools, its holistic, still reputable churches, neighbors of concern rather then “stay on” tourist who you do not know and who are just passing through on their way to somewhere else, is the reason so many young, ambitious, still relevant parents, are making their way back to the countryside. They want their children to have some of the values that made this country great, that not only made this country great but made this country good. “ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” (Proverbs 22:4)

FDR, in his famous address at the beginning of the Great Depression, I remember the speech as well as the Great Depression. “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Believe me, your greatest fear is the survival of you and your children in a country which has its values totally confused. The people who had the most to fear during the Great Depression, were those in the city, where the unemployment rate from the beginning of FDR's reign until the beginning WWII was 18%.

You will never be able to retreat from your decision to stay in an urban madhouse, send your children to a government school where forty years ago police patrols in the hallways replaced prayer in the school room, where on January 23, 1973, all the liberal news commentators in the news headline that night said, “The supreme court has settled the matter of abortion.” Thirty-four years later, we find the slaughter of the most innocent of life as repugnant as then even though the largest evangelical denomination, the southern Baptist, supported abortion then and now. Thank God, the Catholic church has continued its fight for life in spite of the Democrat party, Obama, Sebelius, Napolitano, Pelosi. Biden, Brownback (republican senator from Kansas), and all the other pretenders in the Christian church.

It is in the city life, particularly the inner city life, that we find the crime that fills our jails, the drug pushers, the abortion clinics, the strongholds of political corruption. Satan is a much better psychologist then our founders ever theorized. When our cities were established along the rivers, on natural harbors and bays, in places of commercial importance and convenience, the builders of the great churches, cathedrals, schools, commercial enterprises in these remarkable cities, did not have any idea that city life would become one large snake pit.

Cowards (2009)

Southern politicians have always been a source of contempt as historians have tried to explain the incomprehensible stupidity of their support and their supporters. The first governor I remember as a small child, was Governor Clyde Hoey, a crooked lawyer who always wore a carnation in his lapel. Known mostly for quoting scripture, he had a following among the country club crowd for his graft and the church going crowd for his gourmet appetite for fried chicken and sweet potato pie. We all know about the paper bags full of money, in the Scott administrations, father and son, the partying abilities of Cherry and Moore, but NC politicians fade compares to those from Louisiana.

The most sensational Louisianan politician was “King fish” Huey Long, governor from 1928 to 1932, and senator from 1932 to 1935, like the “King fish” Obama, Long's chief exploit was to bring the people of America out of the Great Depression by the spending of money. He created a “share the wealth program” and declared every man a king. Before he was shot, he was accused of trying to control every phase of state government.

One of the more interesting stories of the Huey Long fiasco, like present day politicians, he liked to make promises. He told the people of one Louisiana town that he would make sure a four lane highway went right by the town. The highway did not happen. A delegation went to his office, inquiring about the highway. They always got a typical democrat answer, “Its on the way, change is coming.” The last time the delegation went to his office his assistant asked, “What should I tell them?” Perhaps the only honest thing “king fish” Huey Long ever said, “Tell them I lied.”

There is no doubt in my mind, thank God, that there are still real Christians in America concerned about the direction this country is going in these days of the Obama holocaust and his demons (Sebelius, Napolitano, Geitner, Pelosi, Kennedy, Clinton) and many others, all of whom are either Catholic or Jewish and, if informed at all should know that God has told us it is better for a rock to be tied around your neck and be thrown into the deepest waters then to murder innocent children. There are enough Catholics in the congress, particularly the senate, to deny Obama any support in his genocide, same-sex marriage, American terrorist lists (which includes my name as a veteran, a pro-life writer and anti-gay marriage Christian).

What is wrong with these cowards in the congress, but more importantly, why did the Catholic population, (Catholics call themselves Christian and are the largest religious denomination in the country) always with a vote in plurality in the northern states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, etc. What is wrong with the Catholic bishops, the Catholic Pope, that they will not speak out about a Muslim, socialist, US president wearing a doctoral robe with a Christian cross, giving the commencement address at Notre Dame University.

Dr. Alan Keyes, PhD Harvard, ambassador in the Reagan administration, political candidate, black Catholic, one of the most eloquent speakers in this nation has joined millions of alumni students, faculty members, in protesting this catholic recognition for this presidential disaster.

I do not expect better from most Protestants and certainly not Baptist, they have all sold their souls, as Demas, “Having loved this present world.” ( 2 Timothy 4:10) With the love God has professed for His church, the bride of His own precious Son, the incomprehensible belief that a marriage can consist of the union of two or more people of the same sex, when the entire creation science involves a male and female in marriage. How can God forgive the acceptance of same-sex marriage by Lutherans, Methodist, Episcopalians, etc. GOD DOES NOT NEED COWARDS TO CARRY HIS CROSS.

The inspired word of God is written in words that children can understand. The plan of salvation, the creation of the world and everything in it, the people, the prophets, the parables, are given to us for our blessing, not a diabolical buffet for unbelievers. Dr. B. B. Warfield last great professor of Presbyterian Princeton Seminary, once said, “God is still in control.”

On this national day of prayer (every president having observed this day from Harry Truman to George W. Bush, not observed by Obama), we have that perfect knowledge that the same God who was in charge of our yesterdays will be in charge of our tomorrows. He knew the beginning as well as the ending. God was around when king Herod the Great killed the babies, when Nero burned babies at the stake, when Tyndal was burned at the stake for giving us God's word in English. God was around when the Aztecs killed their children on the pyramids in the Yucatan. God was around when the children were killed at Columbine, we just need to trust Him.

We do not need to bring the cowardice in our homes, where 75% of our young people when they go off to college never go back to church. He knows the cowardice in our churches where 55% of church young people never go back to church. He knows the cowardice of the Christian college where you cannot tell the Christian student from the non-Christian student. He knows the cowardice of the Christian seminary where many of the graduates, supposed to be preachers of the gospel, do not believe in the inerrancy of God's word. He knows the cowardice of the American citizens, many of whom call themselves patriots when the last poll tells us that 49% prefer socialism. He know about the cowardice in our own lives when we do not stand up for Him in our every action. “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)

I have never been fortunate enough to meet a perfect person but, I have never forgotten to tell any group to whom I was speaking, “I have failed him many times, but he has never failed me.”

Our Waterloo

Aristotle writes about the Ancient city state of Agrigentum, where, as in Sicily and Rome, perjurers and other corrupts government officials were thrown off cliffs, as well as suffering other tortures. If in 21st century America, corrupt political perjurers were thrown from cliffs, there would be piles of bodies at Washington (District of Criminals), most state capitals, and certainly local courthouses.

In 1815, French emperor Napoleon was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo by a coalition of forces led by England's Duke of Wellington. Napoleon, a tyrant of the worst sort was only 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 2 inches taller than Joesph Stalin. Hitler was also a small man, 25 inch waist line. History amazes history with the accounts of the slaughter of people by such small people.

From then until now, every defeat is known as a “Waterloo”, America's Waterloo started in 1920 with the formation of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Until then, American free enterprise, work ethic, Judeo-Christian religious foundation was making this country the world's ideal, a true democratic republic. Roger Baldwin, who headed the ACLU until 1950, made the following statement at its founding, “I am for socialism, disarmament and ultimately for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class and sole control by those who produce wealth. Communism is, of course, the goal.”

Since the founding of ACLU, until this very day, like cutting slices off a roll of bologna, our freedoms have been lost, our libertarian way of life has been taken over one slice at time, without one enemy soldier landing on our shores, one bullet being fired.

Firstly, the Waterloo of loss of liberty and control started with public education. Even sixty years ago, when I was a university student, academia was not entirely communist, the public schools had not been taken over by sociology. The school, college or elementary, was a place of education, not entertainment and indoctrination. Today, 44% of our students never graduate. Nikolai Lenin, founder of modern Communism, told us long ago, “give me your children for four years, and the seed I plant will never be uprooted.” Propped up and sustained by a liberal media, our schools have been dumbed down, students have bought the communist line “hook, line, and sinker”. 50% of all students now prefer the communist system to free enterprise. 50% of the American population pay no income tax, content to just ride in the wagon pulled by the other 50%. Children have a desire to learn, they just soak up knowledge, the tragedy of this country, we have thrown money and educators at the schools, and the public schools are a total failure. The children who are being educated, go to private schools, or are schooled at home. 90% of all academic professors, in colleges of every type, including Christian, are liberal. It only takes one generation of liberal, atheist, pagan parents, teachers and preachers to turn out future generations of enslaved people, slaves to totalitarianism, collectivism, controlled by the state.

Secondly, the Waterloo of the loss of a spiritual relationship between individuals and their God, the church, started with the ACLU and its chief target, people of religion. Until permeated by liberals of the world, the church, standing on the absolutes of God's laws, had nothing to fear from the communist ideology, liberal enticements of the ACLU. Using the well-worn hypocrisy, “separation of church and state”, not mixing the secular with the temporal, not involving the church and politics, not “judging” one another, giving unto “Caesar what is Caesar's”, the ACLU, along with such lawyers as Madeline Mary O'Hare, Dr. Michael Newdow, the unbelievers found in such modernist denominations as Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, has made the spiritual climate of the country a cauldron of doubts and deception. Mr. Obama, standing in front of a Muslim symbol, making sure that every Christian symbol is covered, refers to America as a country of Christians, Muslims and unbelievers. He brings out “unbelievers” every time he speaks, perhaps this is because he and everyone he knows are unbelievers or are pretenders, impostors of some sort.

From 1799 until 1892, even the Supreme Court of the United States declared this a Christian nation. It was our Christian ancestors, who fought the world, the flesh, the devil to establish the religious holiness of this nation, with all its flaws, Indian wars, civil wars, slavery, greed of a few, the deception of many by politically correct politicians and media. There has been no culture, no society in history that has contributed as much to the welfare of mankind...a lifestyle which is the envy of the world. What has happened in this country is almost the same as building a beautiful home, full of every technical convenience, then taking a blow torch to it and burning it to the ground.

Thirdly, the Waterloo of the loss of our national financial structure, industry and the small farm, willingness to transfer offshore the very commerce which made America great (automobile manufacturing, technology manufacturing, food supplies). There is not one cell phone manufactured in America. Through NAFTA and CAFTA, many American jobs are now the job opportunities of foreigners in their own countries. One of the largest producers of computers, Dell, plans to spend $100 billion producing computers in China, their North Carolina operation closed, employees out of work joining the almost 20% unemployment rate in the nation. US taxpayers, funds paid the government by hard-working, god-fearing citizens, used in the Obama bailout for General Motors and Chrysler, plants being built in other countries, other nationalities getting those jobs. The very essence of American entrepreneurship, provider of most private jobs, the small business man, slowly eradicated by big business, at the behest of big government. New jobs are all government jobs, government jobs, best pay of all jobs, depending on the taxes of private employers, it takes all the taxes provided by working Americans, and only 50% pay taxes, to pay medicare, medicaid and social security. All other expenses of government: entitlements, war, grants, etc, borrowed, mostly from China and other enemies. If you dance, you must pay the fiddler, Americans are enslaved to their enemies.

Fourthly, our Waterloo of undisciplined lives, school, streets. Last year, there were 134 suicides in the military, the suicide rate in the military has gone up over 200% since 2004, simply because of our senseless military excursions. Our young people recognizing our senseless political and justice hypocrisy. Pledging allegiance to the flag, even waving the flag, was one time considered a great event in America. Young people, and this is the real tragedy, no longer have allegiance to America because of the hypocrisy of the judiciary, the greed of business, the deception in every area of American life, one time considered non-negotiable.

Are we serious? Can we raise a phoenix from the ash heap of our Waterloo? Do we really believe, are we confident, that the following promise of the creator of the universe applies to us? If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Cowboys and Indians

Reared in the Hinterlands, very much away from civilization, we never had any contact with law enforcement. I understand that now law enforcement officers visit the schools, talk about illegal drugs, even though law enforcement are known for having much to do with their trafficking. In many large cities, police corruption, especially dealing with illegal drugs is more the norm than the exception. I will not go into the accusations made against the CIA and their participation in bringing illegal drugs into America via Mexico.

Anyway, the only law enforcement I can remember as a youngster were two uncles, one an eastern NC sheriff, another uncle, his brother, a member of the secret service. Since my relatives were all Republican, all law enforcement as well as other bureaucrats, there would be no reason for law enforcement to seek out my relatives about anything.

My first real contact with law enforcement was with a highway patrolman, Patrolman Wilkie, I was then a university student selling books door to door in Brunswick, Pender and other counties. I stayed at a home in Shallotte, where the highway patrolman also stayed, room and board. Perhaps, he was trying to shock a young student, a Christian boy with some character, but he told me how let on young woman whom he stopped for speeding, tourists passing through on Highway 17 S, the girl could pay her fine and go on her way without getting arrested if she submitted to sex with him in the woods. This evidently went on everyday, he seemed to despise everyone, especially the people he was extorting. He was pleasant to the local politicians.

I was just an uninitiated, poor student, I did not particularly fear him, but I did not feel compelled to engage in any controversy, then as well as now, it is a matter of survival. Some men think they look big by cursing, some men think they look big by immoral acts. Later in life, as with the highway patrolmen in Bennetsville, SC who tried to shake me down as a young army officer, just returning from the war. The officer stopped me outside Bennetsville and must pay him the fine. I told him I would have to write a check, he took me to a service station where he tried to get a man to accept my check. I reported the incidents included the time, place, officer's name, and the name of the service station. I have reported worse recently, nothing is ever done. The honor among thieves, as well as political jobs, is in protecting one another.

Sargent Buster Yost, from the local police department came to my house one day in uniform, he told me that the chief did want me walking on the streets. He said, “everyone knows you have money, everyone knows you are blind, the chief wants you to stay in your house with the doors locked.” You see, if you know something like this is going to happen, you can get your recorder set up ahead of time. I would like to have recorded that a totally blind, 100% disabled, service-connected veteran is not allowed to walk on the streets where he pays taxes of 6 figures a year, while criminals are allowed to roam the streets. You see, until then, since I need sunlight and exercise, I would walk around the block each day, I was familiar with every hole in the sidewalk. People were accustomed to my walking around the block, and a few would come out to spend some time with me. I stayed on the sidewalk, because so many of these fine, ecological citizens walk their dogs toward the river each day, and since dogs do not defecate in their own yard, their dogs are trained to defecate in the yards of their neighbors around the block. It is difficult for a blind person not to step in such, but dogs, like criminals are entitled more decency than taxpaying, blind veterans.

This week, Governor Perdue met with the leadership of the state highway patrol in NC. Recently, highway patrolmen have been accused of drunk driving, animal abuse, having sex on duty, profiling women during traffic stops, and inappropriate text-messaging, we have heard it all before. Governor Perdue said, “there will be zero tolerance for bad behavior, if you betray your oath to uphold the law or betray the patrol code of conduct, you will be dismissed.”

Lets face it, you do not get a government job in NC unless you are a Democrat...even to driving a school bus. Judicial watch published the ten most corrupt politicians in Washington, DC...all Democrats except for one, the Republican senator from Nevada. Four, including the President, and members of the cabinet. Think of North Carolina, Dr. Black, Representative Wright, Representative Ballance, and others, all Democrats, all in prison. It is my conviction, from having watched NC politics for most of my life, if all NC politicians who were criminals were in prison, government would come to a stop, and this would probably be good for the public.

Sitting at a table, at the hotel Sir Walter in Raleigh, forty years ago, Governor Sanford and US Representative LC Fountain said to me, “North Carolina will always vote Democrat, Democrats control the blacks, the teachers, the unions, the liberal minorities such as gays, academics, Jews and most people who get government checks.” This is proven to be true every time, every election.

Face it, bullies and thugs become law officers, one tazed a man recently for not wearing his seat belt, one tazed a pallbearer at his father's funeral, one killed an inmate at the local jail, one shot a student in the head behind his own front door, then shot his dog. The local county is paying millions to settle this lawsuit. One tazed a man seven times, the officers said, “the man would not stop moving after he hit the ground.” The federal government through homeland security is laying down federal rules, it has become an us-against-them attitude with law enforcement. As in Germany, before WW2, they first came for the gays, then the gypsies, then the disabled, then the academics, and when the came for the rest, there was no one to defend them. Mark Twain said, “nothing improves a mind like travel.” It would be good for some politicians to travel around the world and see what happens in police-controlled countries.

Monopoly Money

Monopoly is a board game published by Parker Brothers, a subsidiary of Hasbro. The game is named after the economic concept of monopoly, the domination of a market by a single entity. Monopoly is the most commercially-successful board game in United States history, with 485 million players worldwide. In recent years, mere mortals, banking, securities brokers, and just plain crooks have played Monopoly with money they have extracted from the pockets of investors. In the most prestigious whore house in the world, the capital building in Washington DC, your tax dollars have been treated like a Monopoly game, enriching the millionaires who occupy the seats of political power; enriching the lobbyists who influence every piece of legislation enacted and then just throwing money at poor people and illegals (those who are not even citizens) to get their much needed vote to remain in power.

The main objective of each person elected to congress, to a place of political power in your state, or even the vermin who are elected in your local county and city is to stay in power. They actually believe that the tax dollars are their dollars. Just recently, the entire city counsel of Wilmington, NC went on an excursion to Washington DC where they could get instruction on real political extravagance, real decadent behavior. Of course, they took their deprived spouses along so all could enjoy the life of the “rich and famous” by eating in famed restaurants at tax-payer expenses. Tax-payers, who are at home clipping coupons, walking to work, checking prices in the Dollar Store and trying each day of their life just to survive.

Politicians have no concept of the individual whose taxes make the whole. They only deal with large figures as Governor Charles Brantley Aycock, Governor in 1900 said to my grandfather, with whom he attended school in a one-room school in Wayne County, “Politicians consider tax dollars to be theirs to use as they wish, and there is almost no oversight because lawyers and the judiciary officials depend on the good will of these thieves, to stay in power.” These politicians, their bureaucratic enablers, may fool enough people to get elected but it is time to warn them that it is not what people think about you, it is what God knows about you.

The new speaker of the English Parliament states that he is trying to end the melees between the government and the voters, that the English people are embarrassed by “the thievery of the politicians while he tries to rebuild the government.” In this country, we are not embarrassed by anything: fornication, adultery, homosexuality, abortion (legalized murder), even lying and cheating. (climate taxes, mortgage and banking vandalism)

This weekend, all news, pertaining to politics in this country as well as politics in Iran were set aside as the nation mourned the unexpected death of an accused pedophile who spent a reported $100,000 per day on an extravagant lifestyle and whose talent and temperament will cause promoters to refund over $100 million dollars for a projected entertainment appearance. Such has been the money making ability of talented child-stars such as Shirley Temple, Jackie Cooper, etc. As a very poor young student, finally finding a place I could afford on Laura Washington Avenue in Memphis, TN one-half block from St. Judes Hospital, amid the squalor of low-rent housing of the city at that time, I remember a very young man each weekend, putting a base fiddle on top of a car and then with some other young men with instruments leaving for a gig, somewhere.

This was my first introduction to Elvis Presley who became the city's most famous and rich personality. You see, God blesses many with unusual talent which bring on the riches. But, as with Elvis, as with Jackie, as with Michael, we will all stand VERY ALONE, totally naked, before Almighty God, either dressed or undressed in the righteousness of His Son, our Savior. Alone, without any of the “stuff” that the monopoly of money of this world affords. All we will take with us is our ability for recognition by the Savior of our soul. “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised." (Job 1:21)

None of us will seek the justice of God but must trust entirely on His mercy. My first thought on learning of Michael's death, the Thriller has gone. I hope the King of Pop knows the King of Kings.

Listening to the BBC, the announcer seemed a little insulted when someone suggested that the death of Michael Jackson was equivalent to the death of Princess Diana. Either, fame and fortune makes no difference when death comes to one as it will come to all. There are 86,400 seconds in each day. When the heart stops beating; when the long, cold fingers of death have seized your life, even if you have as much money as the Queen of England (estimated $3 trillion) you cannot buy one more second. The Dollar, the Euro, the Peso, the Ruble, are all so near worthless, that they are mostly Monopoly money. We spend too much of our time thinking about and dreaming about money and the things which money can buy. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2:15) At best, even if you live to be very old, life is very short compared to eternity. We need to spend our time, talent and temperament thinking and working for God's glory, not our own. Life is like Monopoly money, totally worthless if not saved.

A PRAYER FOR THE GRACE OF DEVOTION

O Lord my God, You are all my good. And who am I that I should dare to speak to You? I am Your poorest and meanest servant, a vile worm, much more poor and contemptible than I know or dare to say. Yet remember me, Lord, because I am nothing, I have nothing, and I can do nothing. You alone are good, just, and holy. You can do all things, You give all things, You fill all things: only the sinner do You leave empty-handed. Remember Your tender mercies and fill my heart with Your grace, You Who will not allow Your works to be in vain. How can I bear this life of misery unless You comfort me with Your mercy and grace? Do not turn Your face from me. Do not delay Your visitation. Do not withdraw Your consolation, lest in Your sight my soul become as desert land. Teach me, Lord, to do Your will. Teach me to live worthily and humbly in Your sight, for You are my wisdom Who know me truly, and Who knew me even before the world was made and before I was born into it.

Happy Days

“Happy Days are Here Again” written the year I was born (1930) and used in the movie “Chasing Rainbows” but more popular as the FDR campaign song in his presidential race. It is still used at every Democrat Convention and even during the time of the Great Depression when unemployment was 18% until 1941 when FDR and his communist VP Henry Wallace were busy with their collectivism (58 million pigs killed, estimated 100,000 acres of crops cut down) in an effort to control the spending and corruption of the Federal government. Those who even at that time, had been dumbed down by political promises believe that happy days were here again. Does the tune sound familiar at this time when unemployment in North Carolina has reached 12% and 40% of the houses are in foreclosure? Does the tune sound familiar at this time with “change of Mr. Obama”? When our largest corporations, our largest banks and even Wall Street besieged by government with Federal Reserve and the Federal Monetary Fund now dictating your every move.

In the past, in my speaking and writing, I have been accused of being too negative. The truth is the truth whether anyone believes it or not regardless of who speaks it. Men do what they do because they believe what they believe In the Saul Alinsky book, “Rules for Radicals”, the target was decided and you worked towards the target. The target of government take-over, financial, automotive, insurance, banking, etc. became the target and in a few months, they have been taken over. When will you people awaken to what has happened to your country? I can say with the apostle Paul, “I bear in my body the marks of our Lord Jesus.” (Galatians 6:17)

I have a right to speak. I am a totally blind, 100% disabled service connected veteran, and for 40 years have stumbled every day of my life, at age 79, still working, still paying exorbitant taxes, still hoping for happier days. I have filing cabinets full of letter duplicates which I have written to politicians about local, state, and federal conditions most of which were never answered, And if answered by some generic “say nothing assistant.” Charles Rose, former congressman, said he could have used my letters to warm his apartment. It is obvious, from letters both individual and from the parties that the main interest of most elected politician is “re-election” and raising money to buy the election like the local city counsel running campaigns, talking about their interest in the welfare of the electorate.

Their only interest is in “picking the pockets” of the taxpayers so they can spend and spree (as they did recently on a Washington splurge) to exercise their own extravagance to bring acclaim to themselves. You like to call yourselves “civil servants”, you realize servitude in the way you react to being interrupted as a servant. Most politicians and bureaucrats do not act like servants but more like masters. In your recently passed legislation, “Cash for Clunkers” house bill number 298-119, passed in conjunction with funding for our war effort. The ludicrous idea that my taxes paying for someone's “clunker” will ease our depression is as asinine as Mr. Obama's idea that you can come out of debt by spending more money.

Honest politicians with common sense, the sense of any hard working, over-taxed laborer or veteran would demand that you put Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke, Henry Paulson, Tim Geitner, Horst Koehler, Dominique Strauss-Kahn (IMF Managing Director) in jail for the insanity involved in the aiding and abetting, enabling this new administration to crash the economy of this country. This disabled veteran, sleeps with his window open at night and is well aware of the clunkers on the streets playing their radios as loud as possible (certain tunes to indicate the drug they are selling) and I am sure these drug salesmen will be thrilled with your largess.

From the depth of poverty, an eastern NC tobacco farm, I worked my way through eight years of university education going to school during the day, working at night (selling books door-to-door in the summer). My first car was a 1941 Plymouth, working in the tobacco fields to buy it for $85. My next car, was a 1952 Chevrolet. To this minute, June 20, 2009, your government has not assisted me with anything, my education, food stamps, etc. I went to school for a long time. My head was in books that most people could not possibly comprehend. When the rest of you were out partying and playing golf, I was working or studying. I could have had a good life ,but went into the military service as a medical officer, and have spent my life as a blind veteran. I am not complaining, I have a uniform in the closet left for my burial. It would still fit and I would be honored to serve YOUR country again.

I have been too much a patriot to buy a foreign made car. Four of my uncles were wounded in the South Pacific during World War 2. Why should I buy a Japanese car? I wrote letters, warning American manufactures, talked directly with an assistant to the General Motors president (I have a driver for my 13th Cadillac, at present) I quoted such names as Saab, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, Volvo, and Porsche and predicted that American dealers, grabbing for the almighty dollar, would regret turning the American consumer to these makes. If board members of these automobile corporations such as General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, etc. had any business sense at all, they would have been pushing American made cars. But, since most corporate board members are there because of their political prestige (Erskine Bowles, GM etc.) they were thinking only of their elitism, their huge salary as a board member, and we have witnessed the insanity of the loss of the American automotive manufacturing industry.

I sat next to the British Ambassador to Nigeria in the airport at Lagos, Nigeria. He said, “you Americans are so stupid. You try to impress the world by cutting your own throats.” We were talking, at the time, of the American largess in sending grain and food supplies to the hungry people of Africa but not sending anything with which the people could store the food. He said, “Just simple, cheap metal or plastic garbage cans in which they could put the food would keep the food away from rats and other animals.” For years, we tried to keep the colonial workers in third world countries loving us by buying raw materials with which to build, while we made money on the products. Now, we have these same people, still poor, putting the cars together in their country at low wages.

Most of the world's poverty is below the 30th parallel; the very place you are sending automobile assembly plants where these and other products are assembled. Those poor workers cannot afford to buy them (my passport has been stamped in 157 countries) and the citizens of the country which you represent in the crime capital of the world, Washington DC, cannot afford to buy anything without government assistance. Margaret Thatcher once said, "The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."

The insanity of Washington politics can be summed up as follows: our hardworking, God-fearing, over-taxed, parents, grandparents and forefathers gave their very best in toil, time, and talent to build a great nation, even to the giving of their children in battle and now we are seeing it totally destroyed. It is like building a house, and then setting it on fire. When one removes a band-aid, the pain can either be slow or jerking it off quickly it is all over. Hospitals are full of patients who are dying slowly from chemicals. If there are those in our country who so hate our country, our way of life, instead of making the death slow, why not just “nuke” the whole thing and just get it over with. Those of us who claim the name of Christ have a far, far better place to live. Life here, in spite of everything I have tried to do has not been that great for me. There is no fun, no future in the existence of any disabled citizen. In my future home, I don't care about a mansion, streets of gold, I just hope I have been faithful enough to squeeze in.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)
