Polygeneticism

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”
Abraham Lincoln

One of the greatest books ever written, Imitation of Christ, 15th century monk, Thomas aKempis, in which he said, “I am what I am before God, no more, no less.”

This writer does not believe that God puts up with any foolishness, chosen, elected, predestined. He wants the best version of ourselves, complete submission everyday, every way. Probably ten or fifteen years ago, on Mother's Day, I gave the graduation address at a large Christian college. I started by telling about Sir Winston Churchill, his biographer came to him with a list of his school teachers. Churchill said yes, the list is complete, except for one. At the beginning of the list should be the name of my mother, my first and greatest teacher.

Then, I ask that all the mothers of the graduates stand for recognition by the graduating class as well as the guests. So easily we forget the sacrifices of “mother” in our accomplishments. We are products of Polygenetics... all those who have gone on before us. I was in college in 1953 when Watson and Crick made their discoveries concerning DNA. The fact that each cell of our body contains thousands of pages of genetic history. As I study their book, The Double Helix, I thought, well, this will put an end to this myth of evolution. No one in today's world would pay attention to Darwin's book anymore anyway. But, the hangers on still want to believe in the myth of “scientific evolution”. How anyone, in their right mind, can study cytology, cell division, mitochondria, the electricity involved in cell reproduction, the gaps in the fossil records, the total lack of evolution in plant life, is beyond comprehension. After death, DNA changes very rapidly. Genetics and everything involved in the genome, points to a magnificent Creator. At that graduation address, I remember saying, If you were to ask every individual who has lived and died, regardless of destination, heaven or hell, “what would you change about hour life on earth?” I believe each would say, trust in God. This is all the Creator of the universe and everything in it requires, trust. As you mature, thank God, you get smarter. It is amazing how smart my father became when I went to college. And, we learn to appreciate our genealogy.

The thing I remember most about my mother, and there are so many things, her molding butter... the wooden mold in which she put butter. The mold had the design of an acorn with leaves. From our beautiful cows, milk that was churned with resulting butter. She took this butter along with eggs and other produce to a store in a nearby town where she “traded” it for things needed in the home. The store had regular customers for her butter because they knew it was right. But a thousand times more important than molding butter, the “molding” of her four children

There are many memories of my maternal grandmother, her holiness. But, I always picture her on that large plantation which had been in the family for many generations, coming down a long path, hoe in one hand, her other hand holding her apron filled with beans or something from her vegetable garden, where she had been working.

I remember my paternal grandmother, a large dominating woman, always driving the large family sedan. She was the manager type, wearing a large beautiful hat, known by everyone. She could walk in any church, any meeting, and everyone took note... my grandfather always the passenger, always content to follow. My mother and grandmothers were known for their cooking, domestic yet capable of doing anything. Perhaps known best for their well-mannered children.

I remember after my paternal grandmother's death, still to this day, the largest, most beautiful funeral I have attended, her youngest son and his wife had their first child. He said, “I sure do wish mama could have lived to have seen her.” In God's design for everyone, He placed within the polygenetecism of every woman, the knowledge of seeing other generations after her, her importance on this earth. God's gift to mothers is a special dedication to the redemption of life, A love second only to that of God. It is a lie that science supports evolution. The more DNA has been studied, the more we know that we come from a common ancestry. The greatest thought known to man, the majesty of the male and female-plus and minus-electrical foundation of biology and science, that a single cell from one animal can unite with the single cell of another animal, having breathed life into it, from the beginning. That, the combination cell dividing, exponentially like the city of New York, exponentially dividing time and time again. So integral, so complete, that the frying pan in every Manhattan apartment is the same each and every time. Only the Sovereign God of the universe could design the coagulation of blood, the photosynthesis of plants. HOW DARE a puny scientist mind to degrade the magnificent design of Creator God. HOW DARE a puny scientific mind to degrade the polygenetics of maternal love generation after generation. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalm 139:13,14)
