The only time I ever crossed the Brooklyn bridge, to visit a hospital specializing in psychological phenomenon. I remember a large sign in the lobby, “Perception is reality.” The intricacies of the mind, a vast mystery to anyone willing to explore. One does not approach spirituality without knowing full well the mystical involved. Jesus Himself said, “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” (Luke 10:27) Early in life, the child learns mind control, his own as well as others. Imagination is a marvelous thing, the launching pad for good as well as evil. Perhaps this is one reason I learned to love books at such an early age... through the words-minds of others, could experience travel, lifestyles, fantasies.
The addiction to the television set has been brought on by fantasizing your mind with the picture-story production. The fat, unproductive, male virtually puts himself into the athlete's shoes, in the sports contest.
Seldom described, our brain cells “capsized-exercised” with all types of idiomatic actions and dialogue, while we sleep. God particularly blesses many of us in giving visions, virtual impressions. I tell everyone to keep a pad and pen by their bed, you will often have thoughts while sleeping that you will never experience again.
Be very thankful for sleep, so many people have trouble sleeping. Be thankful for sights and sounds known only to you in that vast arena of semi-consciousness. I can tell you as a blind person, that you dream in the reality of sight-color-precious memories.
Years ago, one of my mother's sisters and her husband, now, long dead, visited me at my beach house. In the course of conversation I told her that I had a marvelous dream in which I saw her mother, my grandmother and others of our much loved, deceased relatives, totally happy in heaven. I told her about some in the splendor of heaven, who had not yet died... one cousin in the group at that time nearly 100 years of age... not having long to wait. The dream was very real to me, but I could sense (blind, I could not see their expressions) that even though they were supposedly Christian, considered me “off my rocker”, a loony bird. God's book is filled with dreams... we have records of inventors, writers, poets, presented with ideas during sleep, virtual reality. Now, starting in 2005, virtual entertainment. Almost beyond comprehension, long dead entertainers, on stage, with the props of technology, virtual entertainment... still entertaining audiences long after their death. For instance, rapper Tupac Shakur, killed under mysterious circumstances, again on stage. This type malarkey, pretending, infecting the imagination, a source of financial greed to some exploitation group, virtual but not viscerally dead. Not happy to enjoy the recordings or perhaps film left, at least honest, in a world of lying, cheating, stealing, necessity for exploitation of the dead.
Is this exercise in virtual exploitation anything new? At least Elvis' relatives are honest in selling his memorabilia, etc., him making more money dead than when alive. Do the inheritors of great or small estates actually remember, as they enjoy the rewards of success, what it took, is there any memory involved for those who did the hard work? I have personally known wealthy heirs, spending and spreeing from the risk of hard work of parents and grandparents, to never even mention their names or even visit their graves. I truly believe the virtual spirits of those who have gone on before, are still around, watching, waiting, bending and breaking, with either delight or disgust. Just remember those wonderful words the apostle Paul left to us “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
Never tell this blind man that there is not virtual witnesses (seen and unseen) protecting, perfecting, propelling him toward the goal posts, the end of the race.
