Epicureanism of Defeat

Aristotle wrote the classic book on ethics 350 years before Christ (The Nicomachean Ethics) Hippocrates, wrote his treatise on medical ethics 400 years before the birth of Christ, in which he taught that if you do not know what to do, to do no harm. Most of the philosophers in the cradle of early civilization, culture were known for their thoughts but little was written down because those who wrote such as Homer (Iliad and Odyssey) were considered anarchists, protestors, fanatics. The Christian world is blessed to have manuscripts preserved from old testament prophets. A young boy throwing rocks at a cave near the dead sea heard the rock make a sound “as if hitting something solid.” A miracle only God could provide, pottery containing dead sea scrolls. Even Jesus said, “If you had studied Mosses and the prophets, you would have known about me.” (Luke 16:29)

The most challenging intellectual feat of scholarly endeavor is tracing the gold thread of Jesus through God’s Word, such as the construction of the Ark of the Covenant found in the book of Exodus. Starting in the 24^th chapter, we find in exacting detail everything preceding the construction of the tabernacle and the Ark, the place where God desired to worship with His people AND LIVE WITH HIS CHOSEN, the Ark, built of Chittim wood and gold, a shadow of the coming of Christ to indwell AND LIVE WITH HIS CHOSEN.

We know that the tribes, even after 400 years of bondage, had left Egypt rich. We believe that Joseph, while ruling Egypt, had stored much of the Egypt’s wealth in various places, even toward the Euphrates.

Unbelievable, while Moses on Mt. Sinai talking with God, receiving God's laws, the probably 3.25 million people, constructed a gold calf and he found them dancing naked around the idol. God was so angry that He wanted to start over with Moses, just think the millions dead. Moses, loaded with wealth would necessarily be forced to escape the smell. But, Moses begged for God to spare the people. From the beginning, on the stage of the world, we are all actors IN SPITE OF OURSELVES.

IN SPITE OF OURSELVES, from the focal point in human history, the cross of Jesus Christ, we have survived until 2012 with an epicureanism of defeat. Epicurean’s have always been adapted to indulgence, sin, protesting in every way the will of God. Just think, Tel Aviv, Israel, a land called Holy, chief travel destination for world homosexuals.

God wanted this writer, born in poverty on an Eastern North Carolina tobacco farm, graduating from a small country school, with 13 in my graduating class, working through 8 years of university education, to become commissioned as a medical officer in the US Army. Returning, Korean Conflict, blind, God made provisions for me to experience the world. In my many activities of making a living, the many churches, clubs, politics, activities in which involved, I learned that spoiled, contented epicureans do not care about what goes on in the world. God has blessed me mightily, not only with money but experiences. Other self-centered-satisfied people do not care what has happened to their lives and to their country and to the world. I have thousands of photographs made by a blind man, my homes filled with world artifacts. It is rare for anyone to take note of anything.

Eight around the world trips, passport stamped in 157 countries, studying carefully all communist and Muslim areas of the world. This committed Christian cannot understand why the Christian community is not aroused by their fellow human beings in North Korea sent to concentration camps-hard work details, because they did not grieve appropriately at the death of the world's most vicious tyrant, Kim Jung-Il. But, I have talked and written about things in communist China, my 3 trips there... written and talked about communist Russia, (crossing on the Trans-Siberian railroad) Mongolia, Sudan, and other totalitarian countries.

Does it bother anyone that “the land of the free, home of the brave” is now heading in the direction of authoritarian socialism-communism. It starts before birth, communist China, abortion beyond comprehension, America, Planned Parenthood, GAO, $657 million tax dollars spent in abortions last year... 53 million abortions since the Supreme Court decision of 1973.

In the classroom, Columbia's Teachers College, John Dewy, who set up Russia's education program, “the end justifies the means”, government schools, lack of discipline, indifferent teachers, mostly interested in “pay”. Children want to learn, children can learn. Unlearned, “dumbed down” citizens, the targets of liberalism.

This field grade Army officer will tell you that the greatest source of military might is the Esprit de corps of the fighting men... their love for and ability to protect one another. Armys can be destroyed without munitions. Just as the destruction of the schools, so the military, invasion by “don't ask don't tell” perversion.

A nation is as strong as it's economy. When you are in a hole, you stop digging. In twenty four years, America has become the world's largest debtor nation, debts which can never be repaid, a debt in derivatives, entitlements, greater than the wealth of all the world.

While decent hard-working, God-fearing, tax-paying Americans were unconcerned, addicted not only to drugs but ease, the immoral deceptors of liberty have taken over. In the white house, at a recent “fairy tale” party, the Obamas, and their heathen democrat friends were drinking red drinks (pretension of blood) from test tubes. Much like hotel employees in London, describing how Lady Gaga bathes in blood, for life is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11) nourishment of the body's cells by pure blood, particularly the cells of the brain. (so important in the prevention of mental disease) but no blood as important, and precious, as the blood of Jesus Christ, God's own son, spilled for the sin of the world. The wrath of God, SUFFICIENT.
