Oliver Wendell Holmes, jurist, Justice of the Supreme Court said, “ The life of the law has not been logic, it has been experience.” There is no knowledge like the knowledge gained from experience. We live in a world of boxes, a bassinet box at birth (my parents told me that I was born early and they had to use a dresser drawer for my first “crib”), we live in a house much like a box, ride around in a box, eat from boxes, buried in a box. YOU CANNOT LIFT A BOX WHILE STANDING IN IT, YOU MUST GET OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. If you are going to learn anything and you learn mostly from experience, get away from those who prefer to stay in the box.
Since I was in school, the three great causes of death, heart attack, cancer, stroke. The two greatest causes of death for children under the age of 15, cancer and heart attack. If you want to see a real depression, find an acceptable cure for cancer...a cure which big pharma and big medicine will approve. Chemotherapy – radiation only hastens death. It is reported that 75% of all physicians, with cancer, refuse chemotherapy. After billions of dollars, years of research, only 2-4% of all cancers respond to chemotherapy. THIS IS THE SCIENCE OF EXPERIENCE. But, as I have told every person who has ever asked me about treatment of any type...particularly back surgery, I do not know how bad you hurt. The truth is, and truth is all important, most of us do what we feel we must do.
We do what we do because we believe what we believe. I advise anyone to stay away from a hospital. It still amazes me that visitors are allowed in hospitals...bringing in every type germ from the outside to those who are already sick. It is much like a toddler, crawling around on a carpeted floor, a floor on which people have walked with every type germ on their shoes. Germs imbedded – infested. I was in a local hospital, prostate cancer surgery, staphylococcus infection (staph infection) after the surgery, I thought, “With all of these sterile techniques of modern science why should I have this staph infection?” This old blind man, crawled out of the bed, inspected the room, overstuffed chairs which could harbor any type germ, worn out draperies and blinds probably totally infested with germs. The hospital was not content to kill patients in the expensive rooms, there was carpets in the corridors. This demonstrates, if nothing else ever does, the stupidity of supposed “intelligent” health care people who, with a little common sense, should know better.
Dr. Sherry Rogers, MD, writer of many books, lecturer all over the world, has said that this is the first generation of Americans who must learn to cure themselves. You went to school for a long time and supposedly learned to read. Never has there been such an abundance of knowledge about everything available to everyone. You must learn to treat yourself, study yourself. You know more about your body than you can ever describe to anyone. At the clinic, where I go for care (66 physicians on staff, Wilmington Health) each doctor is allowed 10 minutes with a patient. That barely gives him enough time to wash his hands before he gives you some sort of cursory examination. Do you actually think he can find what is wrong with you...he depends on laboratory results, what some assistant has written down. Use your own common sense, what you put in your mouth, exercise, rest. The food you buy contains little nutrition.. It is essential to take supplements. All poisons are not marked with a skull, such as aspartame, nitrates.
I'm old enough to remember the time before zippers, plastics. The exotic plastics of chemicals have taken over the world. Polymers, Teflon, acetates, acrylics are used in everything you touch. The atmosphere is filled with plastics, from roofing, to clothing, vehicles, lawn care, even weed killer, your lungs are constantly filled with chemicals and we wonder why so many people who never smoked a cigarette succumb to lung cancer. Our grandmothers got much pleasure from snuff, Grandfathers enjoyed a cigar or pipe.
Perhaps the most deadly chemicals, other than those purchased at great price with a little piece of paper (most people do not feel they have been to a doctor unless they have a prescription, the more expensive, the better), over the counter remedies. They have an immediate effect, BC, Goody, Ibuprofen, but over a long period of time are deadly.
There are enough blood soaked headlines from the cruelty of war or drug addictions. Depend on the saving grace of Jesus Christ to guide you in your living as well as your dying. Long after I stopped practicing (and that is what healthcare is, practice – you try this and then that) patients said to me, “I wish I had listened to you about the care of my body as well as my soul.” Life is a journey, not a destination. God put shoes of iron and brass on the 3 million children of Israel (Deuteronomy 33:25) because he knew it was going to be a tough journey. The Christian life is not complicated, just tough.
