Pulled Out of the River

The mighty Cape Fear River is just a short distance from my house. I also have a beach house right on the beach of the Atlantic Ocean. IF from either place, I was in the water drowning, someone jumped in and pulled me out, saved me, no matter who it was, it would not be difficult for me to like-love them on the beach.

What kind of church do you go to that you have not been taught faith in God, the One who loved you enough to die for you and be resurrected because of the love of His Father? Remember, His dying for you would mean little unless He were resurrected. We die with Him and are resurrected with Him. (Romans 6:6) Our enemy, the devil, was defeated at Calvary, when Christ said, “It is finished” (John 19:30), He had paid the price, required by God, for our ransom-redemption, sufficient. I do not believe the Christian really understands what has happened in his being chosen, separated. Paul was chosen on the road to Damascus, pulled from his life of sin and rejection. In his letters, Paul never forgot to mention that he was separated for the gospel, a servant. Our separation from the world is as important as knowing the Sovereignty of God, separation started in the garden. God chose a people for Himself, Jews, separated them by laws, punished them when they forgot their chosen status. He separated the holy from the unholy, the sheep from the goats, the elect from the non-elect. The Christian does not realize his blessing, for some strange reason, wants the world, the things of the world.

There is no such thing as freedom in a vacuum, the choice is yours. Why not enjoy your freedom? (John 8:32) A professor in a Bible college, one who had taught many students, many classes, pulled out a large glass pickle jar, he filled the jar with rocks, then he said, “Would you consider it full?” The class agreed that is was full. Then he poured in much smaller gravel-pebbles, surrounding the larger rocks, He again asked the same question, received the same answer. He then proceeded to fill the jar with sand, the sand going around the larger gravel and rocks. Again, he asked the same question and received the same answer. Then, he poured in a pitcher of water, asked the same question, received the same answer. So any of us just think we are filled, when we do not understand the mercy of grace, through faith, plus nothing else... filled. Perhaps one of the greatest Christian books ever written, Imitation of Christ, Thomas a Kempis, 1427, monk, written in Latin, many years to translate, every sentence is precious but perhaps the most quoted sentence, “We are who we are before God, no more, no less”. The most important thing, 15th century or today, FAITH IN GOD... “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

Martin Luther risked everything to find freedom from the traditions, faithlessness, callousness, of the Catholic church. Christianity is not complicated, just tough. We choose our master, the choice is ours. Why escape the slavery of Satan to become slaves of dogma. When a new creation in Christ, like Paul or Peter, both knowing forgiveness,we can understand why Peter said, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:7)

God wanted a people for His own. Those so close to Him that he could parade around forever in eternity. The Jews, disobedient, stiff-necked, the Gentiles, all the rest of us, more interested in idol worship, captives of the world, flesh, devil. But, Jew or Gentile, faith in His faith, the knowledge of the faith He had with the Father that He would be resurrected, we are a separated people, God looking at us, sees the righteousness of His son.

Now, is it a mystery that the unsaved cannot understand the spiritual-supernatural? Is it a mystery that devotees of Lucifer will rape, pillage, steal? Does it demystify that the lost see nothing wrong in the killing of the unborn, same-sex marriage, lying, cheating, stealing? If you are intent on going to hell, why not go first class, why ride on the caboose? The record, He blesses those who choose Him. Those who love Him because He pulled them from drowning in a raging river and are now content to hang everything on faith.
