Francis Galton, 1876, that wonderful scientific experimentation of double checking, found that dogs and cats really do perceive disciple ranges which human beings do not hear.

The Oxford English Dictionary takes the dog whistle even further with the pseudo science we all understand, the double entendre. This is used to indicate an indelicate meaning. Grandmother's first used such in describing pregnancy, "wearing her apron high" or "expecting." Most entertainers, stand up comedians, would be unable to perform without the use of these double entendre words, since many words are not permitted in polite society and public airways. You see, this writer first encountered such hyperbole-hypocrisy in college. I actually thought everyone spoke the truth, they meant what they said and said what they meant. My first exposure, my brown and white saddle oxfords, for which I had worked very hard. I threw away a perfectly good pair of shoes simply because I heard some college friends say that only "queers" wear saddle oxfords. Jumping through the hoops created by society, young folks now more interested in brand names on their shoes-clothing than their own good honest reputation. willing to run the risk of jail, some children arrested for cutting labels out of clothing in stores to put these labels in their own clothing. Fortunes have been made by manufacturers, sports stars, just to use their names on clothing or even cereal boxes.

Lives have been smashed from embarrassment, the cruelty of others, that all knowing wink between two associates, a form of communication showing that you are not up to their standards. With the election season, everyone so careful about racism, afraid to even use the word "Chicago" because it indicates a city from which a black President comes. Afraid to use the words "inner city," "basketball," "golf" (simply because Obama is known to like basketball and play golf excessively).

I was at UNCCH during the Charlie Justice era. I heard Dr. Roland Giduz, Charlie's Spanish professor, say one day, "Senor Justice must pass Spanish whether he plays football or not." Now, according to the newspapers, there is an entire department of African Studies so black athletes, "pets" of African professors, can keep them academically eligible for play. Mr. Julius Pepper's record leaked to the news media and it shows university academia at its worst. But, who cares? He was with Carolina's Tarheels to make money, not compete for Phi Beta Kappa...and I suppose this is racist.

This writer's worst embarrassment concerning bigatry-upity-mean glances, long after the war, on a trip with my driver, I stopped by to see one of my classmates whom I had been told, with his father, enjoyed a VERY successful practice. They both put on a performance of being very happy to see me. The father of my classmate said, "I want him to take you to his house for lunch, I want you to see his beautiful home." In the meantime, my driver went on an errand for me and I rode with my successful classmate to his home in the hills above the city. He had called his wife and told her that he was bringing a guest for lunch. Although blind, I could sense her distain for her hubby and even more for his guest. She was the typical JAP (Jewish American Princess). The home was spectacular, she had opened a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup and served us soup with crackers in the dining room. I knew he was embarrassed at her attitude towards both of us and even more so at her attempted culinary skills. Dog whistles are not always sounds, usually looks...the "Big I, Little You" mentality. The double entendre, vernacular, has its own vocabulary...jock, pansy, empty suit, living across the tracks, country, jet-set, rednecks, wetbacks, bluebloods, etc.

So while a wave of drug-resistant bacteria burns through our hospitals, killing patients by the tens of thousands, Big Pharma is far more interested in making sure some middle-aged guy on statin drugs can still get an erection. There are more profits to be had, after all, in giving people boners rather than cures.

99,000 Americans a year killed by superbugs, says CDC

Hospitals have become hotbeds for highly-resistant pathogens, like MRSA, ESBL, and CPE, increasing the risk that hospitalization kills instead of cures. These are end-of-the-road pathogens that are resistant to last-line antimicrobials.

If current trends continue unabated, the future is easy to predict. Some experts say we are moving back to the pre-antibiotic era. No. This will be a post-antibiotic era. In terms of new replacement antibiotics, the pipeline is virtually dry, especially for gram-negative bacteria. The cupboard is nearly bare.

Prospects for turning this situation around look dim. A post-antibiotic era means, in effect, an end to modern medicine as we know it.

The world is heading for an impending disaster. How could anyone with two purkinge cells, still snapping in their brain, think otherwise? In the post collapsed world, things will be worse. In my lifetime, the seriousness of life and living just flitted away, like so much dust.

We were taught that "honesty is the best policy," study, work hard, "the world is your oyster." Now, those who did study, did want to work hard-succeed, cooks in hamburger joints or selling illegal drugs as crooks on the street. (38% of all fast food employees have college degrees).

In his pastoral council, that great embezzler- hedge fund investor, Bernie Madoff said, "The game is fixed." From poling numbers to test the popularity of certain words, ideas, people, you have carefully crafted speeches designed to accomplish their purpose. The tax payer, producing citizen, not the welfare dependant, entitlement parasite, last in line for anything, furnishes the exorbitant funds. Not only for their high living pageantry but even the fleet of planes which keeps the money raising President, when not playing golf, on money raising trips. Obama spent $750 million four years ago to get elected and will spend over 1 billion attempting to get re-elected. Mr. Romney spent $110 million to win the Republican primary. Reality is, voters in the hinterlands affect politics very little. It is the professional political manipulators, those who deal with the numbers, putting a veneer on everything, the Carl Rogue's, David Axelrod's, those without any conscience except the conciseness of their own greed who determine the outcome and, they know well ahead of time what the outcome will be.

We live in a world of psychopaths, sociopaths. People, mostly men, whose lives and lifestyles, now and in the future, depends on their manipulation of the public. There was a time when we thought that the used car salesmen, ambulance chasing lawyer, etc. would do most anything for the almighty dollar. The world is intrigued by criminality. They love people who are smart enough to get by with something. The seven deadly sins, pride, anger, laziness, lust, greed, gluttony, and envy, mean nothing to them...just laugh at those who believe in God and sin. Many politicians and bureaucrats actually put on a charade of church membership. As those attending the conventions actually watch such on television, grovel at the prepared speeches, every word poll tested, expensive advisors for everything, sucking you into the cauldron of deceit. When will we learn that we are just pawns-puppets, manipulated by political correctness-the gay agenda-the secular humanist manifesto.

Watch, wait and relate, the Democrats always head for the bottom. The conservatives/constitutionalists, always aim high. Republicans are covered with warts but not the internal depravity-decadence involving the promotion of baby killing, same sex marriage, greed and increasing debt which can never be repaid.

There was only one honest politician in the last election cycle, the congressman from Texas, Ron Paul. Compare the integrity of this man to the street organizer, now in the White House.

This writer was in college when psychology projected itself as a profession. I was in an auditorium, trying to decide what this "study of mind" (psychology) was all about. The PhD who wrote the initial psychology text by the name of Dashiell (Fundamentals of General Psychology) was attempting to show a film with a projector and screen. This was long before the time of television and DVD. The projector was fighting the film and poor Dr. Dashiell started beating-whipping the projector. I said to Dr. Phillips, who, too, was watching the scene, "This does not speak well for psychology."

In Gestalt psychology, you find that the brain has self organizing tendencies. I want to organize your brain power in considering what America would be like, four years from now, IF Obama were to win the next election. Joseph Kennedy, father of President John F. Kennedy, said there were three rules to winning an election. The first rule, money. The second rule, money. The third rule, more money. I believe the three rules: money, message, media. We know that Obama controls the money and that Obama controls all secular media...the alphabet corporations, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. There are those who buy his message, people of color do not question anything, academic liberals despise everything for which America stands. The entitlement crowd (unions, welfare dependant, etc.) just want to eek out of the treasury everything that they can while the getting is good. Mr. Lee Greenwood would have you believe, "I'm proud to be an American because at least I know I'm free." He may belong to that small group of entertainers, elitists, welfare dependant recipients, well fixed by the totalitarian system but the rest of us are not free. The middle class has disappeared-the small businessman, the small farmer. Emma Lazarus' group, "Yearning to breathe free," on the statue of liberty, no longer free. Evaluating another four years of Obama with the last three years of Obama, will show you a total disappearance of the American, democratic-republic, way of life.

God's book, The Bible, is the only place where you can find freedom described. Whatever ensnares us and devalues you, drags the name of Jesus through the mud, is not liberty. God's book is racist, sexist, divisive, but it is truth (John 17:17). Look the world over, it is all we have. Where else could you find the three greatest men of The Bible-Moses, David, Apostle Paul, all three murderers, all three forgiven-set free. But, you will find that Baptists and Catholics, so anxious to be fair-broad minded, will vote against every principle of righteousness..the killing of the unborn, same sex marriage, homosexual agendas.

Black churches-colleges with their liberation theology and psychology, have already left God's word, God's family values, God's life values, favoring fairness, abortion, same sex marriage, political communism. USA, black population, 13% of the total, 52% of all black babies aborted.

Can you be a Christian, Catholic, fundamentalist, and still be a democrat? This writer, born and reared in Eastern North Carolina, will never forgive Christian fundamentalists, particularly Baptists, who voted the straight democrat ticket for 140 years and still thought they were Christians as they saw the trouncing of tenant farmers, cotton mill workers. A poverty of opportunity from the court house, to the school house, to the church house. In the depths of discrimination, desegregation, even Jim Crowism, blacks, the most defeated of all, yet now, ABOLITION OF THEIR ENSLAVEMENT, possessing all the rights of citizenship, they support politically, the sons and daughters of their past white masters-some colored dog democrats. What happened to the Gestalt-mental imaging, arranging, of their brain cells?

This writer, having traveled the world, seeing family life in many nations-cultures, is more convinced than ever of the SANITY of arranged marriages. This hormone probably predicts with greater certainty than anything else- how and why some marriages are so permanent. As Maimy Pedigo told me about her husband who had returned from the war, such a different man (having seen Paris, France), he thought he had returned to a depleted wife, spoke about divorce. She said to him, "You can leave any way you wish, door, window, chimney, casket, but I'm not going anywhere. I married you to live with you until one of us dies." Some do not understand how and why a mother will spend every moment taking care of her physically or mentally sick child-often for many years, or how and why a husband or wife will care for an ill companion for many years, such as is the case with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other totally debilitating diseases. Even after established in a responsible nursing home, the companion will go every day, knowing full well before going that the person will often not even recognize him or her. Often, all family income, even family fortunes, are spent giving end of life care. More money is spent by social security on the fastest growing segment of the population, those 85 and older, than all others combined. Oxytocin bonding extends through every social and economic level. This writer traveled the country of India many times-the most poverty stricken nation of the world. I asked several guides, "Why do they have so many children?' He said, "You will note that the parents bond with all of their children. This is their social security system. They just hope that one will take care of them in their old age, or unfortunate circumstances."

There is a human nature quality, and it is a quality, evident in both the Christian and non Christian, believers and non believers, you find it even in the nightclub-bar hopping crowd: attractions. Early, school children are attracted to their "friends." There is an indescribable-undefined attraction which human beings have to one another...I could see this attraction between my own blessed mother and her friends, a sparkle in their eyes when together. To a baby, nothing more soothing than the voice of a mother or father. Perhaps, this is why. The worst sickness in the world is homesickness, no matter how humble. You see this even between some couples. I have been told that you can find, very easily, if a married couple are still in love. When a group of men return from an outing, meeting their wives (a group of women), the first eyes, a still in love couple fixate on, is one another. Male or female, not interested in any other male or female, at that time.

Never think for one minute that God does not know what he is doing, that he knew what he was doing from the very beginning. Adam must have thought that Eve was the greatest gift God could have given him. She had no trouble tempting him with fruit, Eve did not have a chance against the serpent. Man is the crown and glory of God's creation. Birds have much better eyes, dogs-much better smell, cats-much better musculature, horses and cows-much better digestive system. Man's crown and glory is his nervous system, closely connected to the pituitary and adrenal glands. Both are closely connected to the hormone oxytocin.

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well" (Psalm 139:14).

"Windfall"

There are two man made productions on earth that can be identified on earth from outer space, the Great Wall of China and The Great Pyramid at Giza, Egypt. Significant that at the Great Pyramid at Giza (which this writer has entered-the inner area, so large, that it would hold both Notre Dame and St. Paul's cathedrals) has a base of 13 acres, the same area as King Solomon's temple.

King Solomon, known for 3 W's, wives, wealth, wisdom, wealth-gold beyond compare. Even his 40,000 horse stables had gold trimming. The greatest building to this day, ever built, Solomon's temple...built entirely of cedar wood, gold, silver and brass. At its dedication, 22,000 oxen were slain, sheep-too many to count. "The priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house" (1 Kings 8:11). In Solomon's prayer of dedication, he ended by claiming all the promises of God. ” Blessed [be] the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant" (1 Kings 8:56). And, to this day, this minute, not one promise, prophecy of God, unfulfilled.

Not just thousands of years ago, but to this day, why anyone would conform to the world, instead of being transformed by the holy spirit of God. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:2).

Human reasoning and human emotions are unable to explain an understanding of God.

God came into one man's humble home. The man said, "God I want to do something for you." God said, "I want you to move that large rock in your yard." The man would go out each day, pushing against the rock, much larger than he. Finally, the man said to God, "I have been pushing for one month and the rock has not moved one inch." God said to the man, "I did not promise you success, I just asked you for obedience." This writer wishes he had the AWARENESS in youth which he has as an old man, that God only requires trust and obedience.

On a flight in Africa, my plane landed at a small airfield. I do not remember all the details, I believe for refueling, but we were told that we could go into the airport. What seemed like a whole village of African's were seeing a young man off on the plane, they were weeping openly. Of course, as would be my luck, the young man found a seat next to me on the plane. In broken English he told me he was flying to America for education, that he would probably never return, that this was probably the last time his family would see him or he them. Years ago, before today's methods of communication-travel, this was often the case. He and they had the AWARENESS of knowing that his life must be transformed, that he was worthy of transformation.

Most Christians do not know basic Christianity, instead of transformation, conforming to the world. They do not know the awesomeness of election-chosen, brought under the promises of God through faith and trust. 90% of faith is just raw courage but Christians do not have the courage of trust and obedience. The few years of life on this earth, seeking to conform to every unrighteous oxytocin, instead of the holy nature of God. (Oxytocin, a hormone of bonding) God could have promised monkeys or rocks his holy nature but we have available the gift of his holy spirit in our lives...his promises. Much of our floundering and failing is unnecessary. He is always available, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5). The priceless gift to those who believe on him.

This very week, two of my friends have died in hospice, cancer. For the believer, the second death is not to be feared. "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death" (Revaltions 21:8).

The first victim of a political dictatorship, academic freedom, commercial entrepreneurs, spiritual modernism, TRUTH. We give the loss of truth a pretty name, still a four letter word, "spin" instead of lies. This writer is addicted to radios, totally blind, this is my way of keeping up with everything. So much of the "spin" on the airways, just laughable, including advertisements. Madison Avenue, academia, certainly those speaking to the pew warmers, know that they can get by saying anything. The dumbed down public does not know any better.

Recently, my car radio, a news broadcast about certain restaurant chains refusing to use beef products from certain slaughter houses. We know that animals used for slaughter should be in good health. The news broadcast said that some cows, before slaughter, were falling around, appearing sick. I said to my driver, "What do they expect? Cows heading for slaughter to trot, or even run smiling up to the slaughter pen?" If I were about to be slaughtered I would be falling around too-probably rolling around-acting real sick. The man on death row does not run to the executioners table. My guide in China told me the horror story of Chinese executions-the sounds for mercy before being shot-tape wrapped around the prisoners head, mouth, eyes. In Manchuria, this writer saw Chinese prisoners strapped-taped to tables, open top to bottom, their organs being transplanted from them to sick patients, there eyes and mouths taped, slowly dying as their organs were removed.

This writer was on a photography safari in Botswana, Africa. The jeep driver said to me and my guide, "I want to get you away form here, you do not need to hear this." It was too late. The army had found poachers with the ivory evidence. There, there is no trial, no delays, poachers are killed on the spot. Of course, I could see nothing but I could hear their cries for mercy before the shots rang out. The world needs the bona fides of truth more than anything else. Our blessed Lord told us over and over that He was truth (John 17:17,14:6). You may not believe in Jesus, but truth is truth whether you believe it or not.

I will never understand why or how those with education, concern, empathy, can refuse to impart their knowledge about many things. (School teachers, preachers, parents, etc.) How can anyone know the manipulation of the public particularly, what goes into the mouth of the body, (food, drink, drugs) and not talk, warn, coach, about such. After all, basically, your health is all you have. It makes no difference how much money, power, you have. Without health you have nothing, just heading for the trash heap of body debris. In the morgue, all dead bodies look the same...cold, ugly, lifeless. No matter how hard the cosmetologist might try, no matter how beautiful this casket-flowers, you can not make death beautiful. Whether the Queen of England, Queen of the Netherlands, Melinda Gates, Oprah Winfrey(the world's richest women), death, too late for health concerns, disease prevention. God tells us to love your neighbor as yourself. Your greatest act of neighbor-ness, warnings-education, about what goes into your body, the true temple of God.

Manufacturers are interested in sales. Senomyx is an American biotechnology company working toward developing additives to amplify certain flavors and smells in foods. The taste trap senomyx extends even toward desires of certain foods in certain races. (This company uses unborn fetal cells to experiment on what taste people most desire, PepsiCo, Kraft, Nestle.) Most shoppers, looking at ingredients, can not even pronounce the words. Chemicals, synthetics, although not disseminated, of little or no nutritional value, addictive to taste and cravings. I am convinced that some chemicals in food, inducive to the sugars-alcohols, gateway to alcoholic beverages-alcoholism.

Your government obviously does not care, the many tax funding agencies who should care. They are too busy with their cocktail parties-buffets, extended by the lobbyist of the manufacturers. Microscopic particulates of aluminum and barium....accumulative in plants, animals which you may eat, the air which you breathe from chem trials. Just look up and see them, supposedly, radar enhancing, remember for all the toxins you take into your body, that much more to detoxify in order to live.

Early Americans, working in the soil, working in the sweat rooms of industry, not in and out of baths or showers, "stinking grime," detoxified themselves. There is nothing as therapeutic as dirt on the skin but try telling that to sophisticated, powdered and perfumed church people, educators, sterile doctors and lawyers. Try telling the modern farmer riding in an air conditioned cab on his tractor, about the evils of G.M.O's-S.M.G's, chemical grass killers.

Unless totally tainted by government grants, as is the scientific community, the chemist-physicist, knows that chemicals leach from plastic. This writer well remembers the first plastic. In my lifetime, I have seen plastic and such chemical products, take over the world. (Containers, clothing, cars, capitularies and catheters) When will we teach children that chemicals leach from plastic-synthetics disastrous to the body? A person drinks bottled water looking for health, has it ever occurred how long the water has been on the shelf, or our meat wrapped in plastic, or everything used at a fast food restaurant? I have advised people not to spend tremendous amounts for decomposing metal and wood caskets and vaults. Rather, use plastic. The bona fides of truth involving health and nutrition, as non disposable, non degrading, non reprehensible as plastic, synthetics.

Vanguard

Richie Havens, famed guitarist of the 70's is best know for his song, "Here comes the sun." In this parade of knowledge, here comes the vanguard of truth. Vanguards, banners, have always marked certain groups. It is astounding that God's word, so accurately counted, the vanguards of soldiers-citizens in each of the Jewish tribes, marked by tribal guidons, even in the wilderness. Each tribe, much like today's military units, had its distinctive-individual guidon, easily identified when taken into battle. The standard was transposed into a patch-may not have been worn by the Israelites but unit guidon patches are worn by today's military. This writer has traveled the world. There is not a place in the world that does not use street signs. Everyone knows the markers of ownership...the most basic hypothesis of Western Civilization, private ownership.

The Roman empire extended from the British isles to Greece..you find Roman ruins-roads-walls across Europe. Geoffrey Chaucer, said, "All roads lead to Rome." But, we know what happened to the Roman Empire. (opulence, decadence, profane, military control)

Today, all roads lead to Washington, D.C where that same decadence, military violence around the world, ambition for a new world order, triangulating in a future disaster. Rome's many military and commercial vulgarities, resulted in total economic inhalation. Today, Rome is known only for the Vatican. Every nation empire, aiming for total control, making populations welfare dependant, anti-Christian, will wind up as did the other fallen international vanguards. (Persian, Greek, Roman, British, Dutch, Portuguese) Just "narratives" in history books. The human psyche-the man's truth and truth is the first loss in all dictatorships and tyrannies. Our blessed Lord, himself, said, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). The vanguard, guidon, standard, sign post of life, truth.

Amateur thieves have stolen much from me, employees in my businesses and house. I do believe that many house keepers, first day of employment, looked over everything to decide what they wanted. My experience at the court house has been with thieves, people finding it so easy to steal from a blind man. (check writing, credit card usage, etc.) But, this thievery is nothing, I can excuse that. It is the thievery of politicians, bureaucrats, even greedy business people. I have found from experience and observation that the greatest greed takes place among families. This is almost as bad as the greed-thievery, that takes place at the school house where children are cheated from learning, the church house, where it is so easy for ushers to rack off a few big bills, or the preacher to live "high on the hog" from God's money or standing right in front of his congregants, compromise with truth.

There is a massive effort toward mind control by everyone in power, the greatest theft in the world. People in power can buy their own propaganda, white wash their sins. In my lifetime, the secular humanist, their purveyors of political correctness, the procreators of state controlled secular media, have robbed American's in particular, from the last vanguard, visage, celebrating truth. I can think of nothing worse than psychotropic drugs...now given even to school children, manipulating military forces. Big Pharma-big medicine prescribed or street sales, drugs warping the minds of people. It is all a matter of control..deceit.

God wanted me to totally travel the world He had created, designed. From every continent, every country I have studied, one truth is definite. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]" (Eph 6:12). The world has chosen prison, slavery, in many places we even vote for it. There are two type prisons, large inward-fenced, shut in prisons and the much larger prison, outside the walls of the inward prison. Those in the outward prison labor to support both themselves and those within the walled prison. Those within the walled prison, live much better than those outside the walls who struggle for survival.

A female deputy sheriff worked for me for a few days, part-time. Her full-time work was at the local prison. She saw how frugally I live, a totally blind, 100% disabled, service connected, medical officer veteran. She said, "Dr. those behind the walls at that large prison, live much better than you."

Every city, every law enforcement office, now has a helicopter. In my town, I hear the helicopter flying over the city night after night, watching, waiting, making sure the prisoners are behaving.

Remember, the word "refuge" means security in a high place. The Christians banner, vanguard, guidon, standard post, tells us, and assures us that you can believe anything and everything you want to but the truth is the truth whether anyone believes it or not. The truth of the great "I am" will see us through. Our lost family members, friends, consider us narrow minded. Narrow is the way that leads to life eternally. (Matthew 7:14).

Rope-a-Dope

We live in a world of cognitive distortion (relax-everything is going to be alright). No matter what happens, reports of political decadence, reports of spiritual improprieties, disasters of tornadoes, floods, drought, the usual retort "Let's just move on." This is perhaps best expressed in the popular 1988 tune, "Don't Worry, Be Happy". The Beatles said, "All you need is love." Sinatra sang, "I did it my way."

The time is long passed to realize that perception is not reality, we live in a real world with real problems.

It takes 30 glasses of water to neutralize the toxicity produced by one can of carbonated drink. You probably never recover from the poison of aspartame or other synthetic sweeteners, found in a diet drink. In the sophisticated world of statistics, when you can come out with proof regarding almost anything, logarithms have not yet been discovered that will give the sum of psychological affects on the human organism. There is no way to measure the pain-mental aguish involved in the death of a loved one. There is no way to measure the psychological trauma from abuse. After hateful words are spoken, accusations made, traumatic blows delivered, difficult to retrieve. If only this writer could recoup spiteful words he has spoken, damaging-judgmental attitude.

July 1, Saginaw, Michigan, a homeless man, well known to law enforcement, a mental cripple, was shot 46 times by police simply because this mentally deficient individual was threatening. The ratio was 6-1. Six armed police officers to one homeless-hapless man with a knife. Why did it take 46 bullets to bring down and kill this one unfortunate person...a man, although not like most of us, however made in the imagine of God? Same situation with Katherine Johnston in 2006, black woman in Atlanta, Georgia, in bed in her own home. Her house happened to be in a part of the city which had become infested with drug gangs. In a botched drug raid, mistaken house, her door was kicked down by the police. The 92 year old woman, a seasoned product of discrimination and everything else that had made her life miserable, at least had the good sense to have a weapon to defend herself. (Guaranteed by the second amendment of the Constitution) Not in uniform, undercover police, after she had fired one shot in their direction, fired 39 shots at this helpless, hapless, old, black woman. Are there words to describe? Could any measurement be taken of the terror which afflicts many in similar circumstances?

Just think of old people living in housing projects, gangland type killings, moral turpitude-decadence, up and down every street. Just think of children raised in a house of depravity, prostitution, addictions of every type, physical and mental abuse. This writer has talked at length with children raised in such cauldrons of sin and then they wonder why people can not accept them as normal, facing the normal challenges of life. Just think of children in the war torn areas of the world, not knowing from one day to the next if they will have the security of a parent or a home.

Somewhere, somehow, the human mind must find psychological escape from the traumas of life.

Many of us find escape, refuge (refuge is a high place in our faith). I have asked the question 1,000 times, "Where do people go for help who do not have faith in God?" My favorite Psalm is Psalm 84. This writer was at a low point in his life, about 40 years ago, on the island of Samoa in a small church, filled with natives, a woman missionary with a real high pitched voice, walked down the isle and said to me, "Welcome to our church, today I am speaking to these people from Psalm 84, 'Blessed [is] the man whose strength [is] in thee.'" It is not what a man does when everything goes well in life. Rather, it is what he does when he realizes the real source of his strength, when everything goes wrong. The word Lord is a very particular word throughout God's book. Even Caesar wanted to be called Lord. British noblemen liked to be called Lord. 250 times in the bible, God is referred to as Lord. Lord of host is very special. When God says something twice, pay attention. Psalm 46, two verses, 7 and 11, "The LORD of hosts [is] with us; the God of Jacob [is] our refuge." Remember, Jacob the grandson of the first Jew, Abraham. Jacob, psychological turmoil as most of us, cheater of his blind father and his twin brother, cheater of his wife's father Laban, wrestle with God all night (Eph 6). God changed his name to Israel, the Jewish nation bares his name until this day. God gave him the blessing of producing the 12 tribes of Israel. Such a failure, such redemption, at his death in Goshen-Egypt, age 147, largest and longest funeral procession the world has ever known. The Jews of Egypt, most of the Egyptian army, millions, traveling the hundreds of miles to bring his body back to Cana. Such is the faith we find throughout God's book, both Old Testament and New Testament.

Some people find escape from the psychology of everyday traumatic living in sports, music, hobbies. This week, Phyllis Diller died at age 95. She could still evoke laughter without using four letter words or suggestive sexual activity. As the great comedian, Red Skelton said, I have kept people laughing without using four letter words. There is nothing as good for the human psyche than laughter. My Aunt said, "The greatest therapy in the world is your grandmother's laugh." One of God's greatest miracles, amid the trauma-turmoil-trials of life, one can still smile, even laugh. In the rope-a-dope with which Satan traps us, Pagan practices "cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful" (Mark 4:19). We can still find a reason to smile, laugh, knowing contentment that God in his mercy has prepared better for us.
