Hit the Reset Button

There is such honor in work, honest labor. There is such honor in the lunch bucket, Jesus never called anyone was not working. Andrew and his brother, Peter were busy with their fishing nets, James and John, sons of Zebedee, were busy mending fishing nets (remember John was the youngest disciple called, probably 17, outlived all the others, and died at 85 on the island of Patmos). Matthew was a despised tax collector, but he was busy. Luke, physician (all physicians were slaves). Others, all working, all busy. This old, blind, disabled veteran has so little use for those who just spend their lives in slothfulness, “Lazy-Boy recliner” mind on holidays and vacations.
Go to any government facility, Saturdays or holidays, and see how many overpaid workers are on the job. Schoolteachers complain about low pay, but never mention their months off during the year…. Every holiday… Teacher “workdays.” Post office, you get a job through political pull, and then you are “fixed” for life.
I so pity people who do not have memories, who can not remember gifts their hard-working, saving parents made arrangements for Santa to bring them at Christmas. My first Santa gift of remembrance, a tricycle, it was not cheap, a very nice one. I saw my mother work all day long in the fields, hot sun, to make one dollar. I saw my father stand on his feet all day long cutting hair for ten cents a head. When you have these memories, when you pause and reflect, then you have a better outlook on your “pull”, your “draw”, your divine calling to live a life of responsibility and integrity.

The Christian life is not complicated, just tough. The early church knew suffering, and it grew. Polycarp was burned at the stake for his belief, and the church grew. My ancestors who landed from the good ship, Kent on the shores of New Jersey endured hard times and hard weather, but they endured because they had the knowledge of God and the leadership of a holy spirit into a land of freedom. The thousands of real men and women who have gave all they had to give, knew the joy of salvation and the promise of eternal life. Also, they knew the splendor of work, they enjoyed their accomplishments, they did not believe in a “bellhop” God, one they could just call on when in trouble. Theirs was a living-breathing-sanctifying relationship with Jesus.

Wind in Your Sail

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves, no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

It is much easier to speak about or write about surrender than it is to live it. Success has often the greatest roadblock to surrender. Is only in a surrendered life that one finds the wind to fill a sail that guides and pushes you on to promised “victory”. The full sail has defiant optimism… The best book is still to be written, the best brushstrokes are ready for a canvas, the best invention still on the drawing board.
For youth, your greatest wealth are your options, the many highways awaiting your travel. Don’t be like a rudderless, compass-free ship in a great ocean, learn early in life to structure good habits, solid routines.
The first time this world traveller was in Venice, Italy many years ago, I remember just the back of the Doge’s palace, just off of St. Mark's square, I walked across the bridge of “sighs” which Shakespeare spoke about in his play, “Merchant of Venice” as to the prisoners going to their deaths. I looked through the window on the bridge at that beautiful city. The prisoners sighed because they knew their options were over.
Over the years, university-military service-employer of many people and just an observer of humankind: I have often wondered, with just one life to live, and it goes by so fast, how can anyone be so totally casual, and lackadaisical about their one life… Such a short time to accomplish things, but, I decided that God sees in sinners, potentials that I cannot see. He knows how to truly rehabilitate. Does it not amaze you the people who have come back from the edge of destruction to make something of their lives? We are not saved by imitating Christ, we are saved because of the sacrifice of his death. The thief on the cross did not know one thing about Jewish law, had probably never done anything good for anyone, but Jesus saw in him the reason for His sacrifice next to our Lord, the reason for his sacrifice, his power to redeem.
When this writer was young, the typewriter was great technology. I well understand the bottomless ocean of technology and our young people’s thrill with technology. Most do not understand that their jobs will be taken over by robots; they forget that this is the real world where there is a need for real men, real women, facing the real struggles of life, needing the real joy of truth and accomplishment; needing the real structure of truth and tradition: god-fearing honor of work, majesty of marriage, the joy of accomplishment in the rearing of children. I still remember the time when the husband went off to work, carrying his lunchbox, happy to support his wife and family. Fathers were honored by mothers and justly honored by their children. My mother cooked food the way my father liked it. She paid little attention to the whims and wants of children (“When your children get hungry, you will eat.”) My parent’s children were not allowed to complain about anything on the table because meager as it was, it had the blessings of God.  We have all had our bellies full of mothers who sweet talk their dogs while screaming and cursing at their own children. How many husbands have I heard say,”I wish my wife loved me as much as she loves our dog.”
One thing you can write in stone, in this day of political correctness, this day of the unpopularity of Christianity, the good are getting better, the bad are getting worse. Millennials, age 18 to 35, everything based on emotion, everything based on feeling, not fact, fairness, not honesty. Perhaps this is the reason only 4% of millennials have anything to do with the church. AND, it is not always the fault of the hardworking, taxpaying, concerned parents who raise them, and who led them to Sunday school and church, taught them the difference between right and wrong. Perhaps this is the reason these hardworking parents save the money to send them to a good college, even a tax-supported school, sat back and saw liberal-communist-atheist professors destroying everything good they had instilled in their much-loved children. The wind in the sail that will determine your destiny as well as your destination, determined by attitude, your attitude towards the holiness of God… His holy spirit pushing-directing you. Self, whether slothfulness or swaggering, can never be anything but hateful to God, people who are poor are in a position to receive. How can I receive gold in my hands when my hands are already full with self-indulgence stuff?
Outside the city of Cairo, Egypt (a city of 20 million where the population is so thick, each person has about enough room to stand, where buses travel the streets with people hanging on them), on the Giza plateau, the exact center of the world’s earth’s surface, the Great Pyramid… Covering an area of 13 acres, 240,000 tons of stone, cut in exact blocks joined together, the place of joining so exact, that human hair would not go in to the place where the blocks are joined together. The government allowed this world traveller to enter this great structure, the oldest structure standing in the world, the interior large enough to place both St. Paul’s and Notre Dame cathedrals,  I wondered how such a structure could be built before the time that even the Greeks had discovered the symbol for mathematical pi (3.17---), before there was even any way to transport blocks of stone that weighed 60 tons each, we want to give so much credit to the wisdom of man, ancient or now, can we even imagine the wind in the sail of those who built the pyramids, those who built the great wall of China (2,000 miles long over Himalayan mountains, wide enough for four horses to walk side-by-side, guardposts every forty feet built to keep out the Mongol hoards, yet the wall was immediately breached because the guards were bribed), the great dams-bridges-highways-railroad beds on which train tracks are laid, scientific knowledge gained about cells (DNA), each of the trillions of cells in a living body containing information that will fill 10 pages, a complete encapsulation of your total ancestry, and to think, that there are those who would still kill or abort the unborn child possessing this knowledge and potential: “God of our fathers, known of old… be with us yet, Lest we forget, lest we forget” (Kipling).

Guardrails

This 87 year old, totally blind, 100% disabled, medical officer veteran believed he has seen it all (8 round-the-world trips, traveled in every continent, passport stamped in 157 countries, excursions to both the North and South Poles). But, recent developments about young millionaire athletes paid exorbitant salaries to run up and down sports fields in sports arenas has caused me to have great doubts about the future of my country. God gave to man a conscious, God has given man certain guardrails, certain absolutes, the knowledge from right and wrong. He set the parameters, guardrails-guidelines in the perfection of the Garden of Eden. He told the first couple that they could walk with him, enjoy the perfection that he had created in the world. He gave just one limitation, “Don’t touch that tree.” They had everything else for their enjoyment. But as with everything else involving genus homo (human beings), there must be certain restrictions… The violation of the laws of nature (fire will burn sowing and reaping). My first excursion into the world of “make-believe”, when ordered to the staff of the US Army hospital, Fort McClellan, Alabama. When an officer receives his orders, he does not question anything, only follows orders. One of the medical officers I met upon my arrival at this Army facility, said to me, “I’m so glad to be leaving this ridiculous place. I don’t know what is going on here, but it is evil.”
I had studied mathematics at Chapel Hill under the professorship of a German mathematician, who was very upfront. He had taught our enemies the projection of shells, early missile warfare. He said that Hitler just wanted a rocket that would go from Germany to England, loaded with explosives, WW2 ended before this was achieved.
So, America always wanting to win at any cost, loaded up the scientists working on the rockets and brought them to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. You all remember the name Von Braun.
The closest Army military hospital was at Fort McClellan, and so, the US Army brought over staffing for that hospital… German doctors and nurses… Those who could speak English… such names as Marx, Correll, Brauer, the chief nurse Cornfeld. Of course, we lowly American medical officers, knowing these people would sign our efficiency reports, just cared for patients and did what we were told. There was a stream of Germans from Huntsville to that hospital, I would often stand outside a door, then listen to those disgusting matters in German. The chief of every service was a German officer, and we think we have problems because we have athletes who would not salute our national anthem. I actually knew one German officer, who claimed to be a surgeon, assigned to the chemical core located at McClellan, it turns out he was just a medic in the German army, but he was allowed to do major surgeries in the US Army operating room. The enlisted staff knew there were crazy things going on. I said to one supposedly FBI agent who was going through the hospital for his final physical before his retirement, “Have you people ever investigated this place? Is Washington so completely blind to what is going on here?” As we have found with the FBI, in recent years, he just shrugged his shoulders and moved on.

Guardrails are placed along highways, places of danger, in the expectation of keeping something worse from happening. I will never forget the uncles-cousins, other men in our god-fearing-taxpaying family-oriented community who went to war and were lucky enough to return. They ask for nothing except the opportunity to work hard and achieve… To raise a family: to observe the guardrails of morality-decency-honesty which made our country great. I heard my brothers returning from the service talk about their treatment at a VA facility. They preferred to pay for their own treatment and that of their family. One cousin Joel, who came back wounded from the South Pacific, whose wife drove into work each day to clerk in a dime store, was forced to go to a VA hospital for treatment. He died in a hospital bed in that VA hospital (Durham, NC) and his dead body was not even discovered for many hours. Of course, with every veteran, the government knows that is far cheaper to bury a veteran than care for one. This officer was transferred from the McClellan hospital to another one and I have often wondered what happened to the Third Reich staffing which our government chose to place there. You see, craziness is nothing new… Integration of females with males on the front lines, same-sex marriages,  migrants without citizenship serving in places of warfare. With nations as with people, you reap what you sow. We have sown to the wind, and we have reaped a whirlwind (Hosea 8:7). We have been on the battlefield in the Middle East for 14 years, thousands killed, more thousands wounded, and hungry, scared children. It will take more than the greatness of President Trump to drain this swamp, clean out this hog pen. We sold our soul to Satan long ago, and the integrity that made America great is now a fleeting memory.

Taking to the Knees

Evangelist Alveda King: America is Distraught and Distracted by Free Abortions, SOBs, Fallen Idols and Foreign Feuds; Cease Fire, Take the Knee and Pray

The daily news reports are becoming more and more unbelievable! With the Defund Planned Parenthood Debate looming, Congress has yet to defund PP. Meanwhile, abortionists are still offering free death care abortions to hurricane victims. With all the death and devastation that Hurricane Harvey brought to Texas and Louisiana what the people need is life-affirming help; shelter, food, clothing, real healthcare, and yes, when pregnant, they need pre-natal care; not killer abortions.

Mothers need love and support; not abortion. If for no other reason we need to end taxpayer dollars to abortion providers who are able to offer free abortions in the face of storms; the Harvey victims, the Irma victims, all the storm victims. America is hurting and killing people is not going to help heal our land. Please America, wake up! Abortion is not healthcare! Pray for America, and choose life!

In the midst of this melee, there is a furor regarding the ongoing challenges with today's young people wanting to "take the knee" and turn their backs on the American Flag. What's missing in this situation is the lack of knowledge regarding the complete and complicated history of the founding and ongoing American struggle for liberty for all Americans. Our people are truly perishing for lack of knowledge.

Why is the "protest knee" approved while the "freedom to pray knee" is forbidden? Both are constitutional.

As if these two critical boiling points are not enough, there are still painful debates regarding immigration versus national safety and security; and then there is the horrific hostile overthrow of statues and monuments across the country. Remember: God warns us to keep away from idols. Statues of "heroes" that cause race wars are idols.

"You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 26:1

Acts 17:26: God created all human beings of one blood; so regardless of skin color, we are one human race.

Keep it positive. Avoid the disruptive news spin. Let's continue to pray for our president and all in authority so that we can live peaceful lives. (1Timothy 2:2)

Actually, there's a lot of money at stake in sports, immigration, national memorials, etc. We all have our rants. With all the dissension among us, let's remember that money can be a liberator or a trap. We are one red-blooded race. Racism is a sin. Statues are idols. Our cherished flag is under God, not to be worshipped. For the record, in The Beloved Community, God loves everyone; you, me, NFL players, unborn, rich, poor, old, sick, confused. There is far too much bickering over idolatry. Everyone should "take the knee" in prayer, and ask God to heal America. It's truly time for America to Return to God.

Citizenship

More dangerous than any nuclear weapon, the loss of trust between the American people, particularly the loss of trust between government and its military forces. This totally blind, 100%  disabled medical officer veteran, now 87 years of age, so admires President Trump who promised to clean out the hog pen, drain the swamp, that pit of corruption called Washington D.C.
As a young man, my parents, grandparents, for many generations, the only Republicans in the community, I made the decision that if  I was going to progress in any way in the Democratic stronghold called North Carolina, I must become a member of the Democrat party. Back then, the solid South was conservative: God fearing, Bible believing, hard working conservatives. The very idea of same-sex marriage, promotion of abortion, unisex bathrooms were a shame or embarrassment that we would not even think about. As bad as “Jim Crowe laws”, separate water fountains, separate toilets, separate schools, nothing could prepare those of us in advanced age for what we are seeing now. Certainly, we could not have imagined the time that our government would find it more productive, CHEAPER to bury a veteran than to care for one. I remember the time Drew Pearson, H.V. Kaltenborn, Gabriel Heater… men of principal, personalities who would have died before giving false or deceptive news. Now, the media has become the most powerful political party in the nation and the Republican party to whom I fled when I became so disgusted with the Democrats who have lost all moral scruples, political principles.
As president of the young Democrats in North Carolina, a Korean veteran, I set at a table in the Sir Walter Hotel, Raleigh, with governor Terry Sanford and congressman L.C. Fountain, they said, “Democrats will always control NC because we control the black and liberal farm vote.” I could not repudiate my ancestry, I had seen Democrat officials haul black voters (whom they were registered to vote) to the polls in their cars… Give them a candy bar for them to mark their ballot. I fully knew that you could not get a job in a state hospital, state public school, state college, work on a state road unless you were a voting Democrat. One of my black friends came back from WW2, still wearing his uniform and when he reached North Carolina, he was forced to ride in the back of the public bus. He would cry as he told this experience, a decorated veteran, forced to ride in the back of the bus. As a boy, he had polished David Brinkley’s shoes on the streets of Wilmington and had given his very best to his country. This is the shame of our immoral VA, and immoral Democrat party, an immoral public which allows veterans to be treated as 2nd-class citizens. My black veteran friend requested that when he died, he wanted the hearse to carry his body down Castle Street, the longtime black street in Wilmington. I had my driver to take me down and I stood on the street as the hearse carried the flag-covered casket down the street. The last thing I could do for him.

Binoculars and Biographies

“Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.” - Gertrude Stein
What is human intelligence: the intelligence of a small baby is so different than that of a MENSA member, is so different than the elderly with senile dementia. This peculiar entity of the animal homo sapiens, an animal with a backbone, with a mind and soul, so different from other animals who do not think or know that they are going to die. The genus homo sapiens, human being, even allows his soul to breathe: prayer, the greatest power of which a human mind can conceive.
One of the greatest memories of my childhood, watching my grandmother in prayer. She would sit with her elbow propped on the arm of the rocking chair, hand to her face, her lips moving. This great lady never had her name in the newspaper as the important person of any type… Only her obituary. She never taught a class, never gave a lecture, I heard her speak at a family church house one time (Church built in 1864 by my great grandparents on both my mother and father’s side). Once a year, there was a business meeting at the church. When there was a roll call of all members, there was one girl in the community who had joined the church as a child and her name was still on the roll. She was the county whore, and everyone knew her reputation. I don’t believe she attended the church following her baptism in the fish pond. My grandmother stood and said, “If Rydell Sasser’s name stays on the church role, then you can take mine off.” My grandmother believed in a backdoor revival. It did not take FBI, SBI or a powerful telescope for her to know what was going on in the community.
From the time that Galileo used his little telescope attempting to study stars from the balcony of the baptistery of the great cathedral at Pisa, Italy or from the time Leeuwenhoek used the microscope, men have brought knowledge from a desert of ignorance.
Binoculars, once so expensive, now so available to anyone. Nothing is more important in warfare than binoculars. The Native American Indian brave could put his ear to the ground and determine very accurately the number of buffalo in a herd many miles away. The same brave could look at mountain peaks many miles away and read smoke signals. Those of us in the military learned early that the enemy had binoculars, they enjoyed killing officers, especially medical officers. The officer wears his rank and medical insignia on his shirt collar. You learn early to turn your shirt collar under. We live in a world of fake-deceitful news media. It is difficult to believe anything on the news or read in the newspaper. We have learned to make records of everything we say. President Richard Nixon left 800 miles of tapes which he recorded in his office of foreign leaders, associates, friends, as well as foes.
In a world of political correctness, stolen identification, thievery of every type, you learn to protect yourself. BECAUSE if you could carry binoculars with you constantly and learn to “spot” signs of deceivers-fakers-pretenders like a “birdwatcher” (a birdwatcher identifies a particular bird by certain colors or other very distinctive markings), then we would not be so easily deceived by a very deceptive world. There are 32,300 verses of scripture in God’s word. There are 1189 chapters in the Bible. The chapter midway the Bible, Psalm 118, the 8th verse says, “Trust in the Lord and put no confidence in men.” It may be interesting to you that 117 Psalm is the shortest chapter in the Bible. The 119 Psalm is the longest chapter in the Bible. Every word in the answer book, the book which God took time to write for us tells us to trust God and to distrust our fellow man. This is particularly important to those that are disabled… Blind, no longer mentally alert, children have no choice but to trust adults. The shame of the ages living in a world where lust-greed-lack of morals is now so fully acceptable, even our children and elderly are so easily abused. This writer is totally blind, when I could see, I so enjoyed visiting graveyards, so interesting to observe a famous name or even one not so famous and look at the dash or hyphen between the date of birth and date of death, knowing it was in that space that your biography was written. People live their own eulogies; they live their own funeral. In a nation where there are more people in prison than any other nation in the world, where 9 billion dollars is spent to celebrate a satanic holiday (Halloween), can we understand why rotten sin has taken over the world, particularly our own country, a good name is no longer rather to be chosen than silver or gold (Proverbs 22:1). The mortality rate is still 100% and we do not know when God will say enough is enough. At the end, political influence, real estate, securities accounts will make no difference… Last breath here, first breath there. When will we learn that each day we live, just one day closer to Heaven or Hell. Trust is the greatest joy an individual can possess. I well remember the time where we could trust science, even science foundations. I well remember the time where could trust medicine, pharmacy, and all the allied healthcare professionals. Now, it is all a matter of money. One of my best friends, Robert Futrelle, was chief counsel to my local congressman (Robert was killed in a plane crash) he said to me, “Tom, the only interest in the congressional office is money… Raising money for the next election. Everyone squeezing as much money as possible from the big pot of federal funds. Our days are spent with lobbyists, from one cocktail party-buffet to another. The only time I ever saw our congressmen get excited was when he received a letter from some poor man, who did not have paper but rather wrote his letter on a brown paper sack.” He said, “Washington is just one big mafia pit of corruption.” Yet, like the phantom feelings, a human being feels in an amputated limb, we want to believe that all is well with our country. This old blind veteran, like the veterans in many VA hospitals, like the 116,000 buried on foreign soil, like the thousands buried in family graveyards across the footed plains, we do not have the binoculars, the telescope, the microscope, to accurately define our disease. I can think of only one definition of the disease afflicting my country, the same disease that has always affected the body, soul, and mind of mere mortals: sins ruined that can only be corrected by the redemption of Jesus Christ.

Trust and Trials

This writer, when much younger, now 87 was not only a writer for several secular-professional-religious magazines (8 years editor of Southern Journal) but received much joy as a speaker.
One of my most memorable eulogies, the funeral of the first graduate of NC State University who died at the age of 100. I remember saying at this great man’s funeral, “A tree can be best measured when it is laying down”. Laying in front of us, at his church, most people there have forgotten the marvelous life this man had led… His many contributions to the community, because, most of us, are spent out of the spotlight in old age.
The most rewarding factor you can give to any other human being is the glorious evaluation that he or she was a person of trust. It is so rare to find trustworthy people anymore: politics, socially, in business, anywhere. Why would anyone hire an employee who could not be trusted? And yet, from many years of personal experience as a blind man, no one would believe how much of my property has walked out of my house. In fact, not just employees who you hire and pay to do things for you, how much trust do you invest in your automobile dealer, your doctor, your lawyer, even members of your own family. There is so much hatred among members of one’s family, over just stuff, when there is a death and it is time to divide the estate. children who sat with their feet under the same table often fail to ever speak to one another again over the division of “things”: fully knowing that at their own death, they will leave this world with empty hands. Usually, the smaller the estate, the more animosity is involved. In the community where I was reared, I so remember one family who owned just a patch of land, large enough for a house to sit on. But, not one of the survivors speaks to one another because of the division of the small amount of money for the worn out house.
One of the greatest misfortunes of my life, working as I did to become a doctor, then under the “Draft Doctor’s Law” of the Korean war, I served my country and those who needed my care returning as a totally blind veteran, 100% disabled. Like so many veterans, we trusted our government to take care of our disabled body. The VA never gave me a white cane, yet, there are thousands making the “big bucks” who never served a day, and who lived the good life… Attending sports events watching millionaires on the playing fields, watching millionaires play instruments in concerts, financially able to eat in the very best places. Of course many give some money for good causes “do-gooders”, off the top, tax deductible. It is like taking a tax deduction for money you give to your church. If you are truly giving to God, why a tax deduction? God is the perfect bookkeeper, the perfect scorekeeper.
But, God only expects trust from us. Most people I know want God to trust them more than they want God to trust them. We simply do not want to trust enough to be different from the unbeliever. We do not trust enough to spend our resources, only world steeped in need. More human beings are killed each year by mosquitoes than military forces killed in both WW1 and WW2. Then we wonder why only 4% of millennials have anything to do with the church. The mosquito-malaria problem should have been wiped out years ago. In my world travels, I saw native women walking for miles with jugs just to find drinking water. Wells for water, every village of the world should have been established years ago.
In England, Buckingham Palace, one old woman and one old man living in one old house have 75 bathrooms. I think about this every day of my life when I remember how few human beings in eastern North Carolina had any side plumbing, including my own family. Many of the diseases we found in practice could be directly attributed to this one public health problem… People needing to go to the bathroom; bad weather, ruining their bodies by putting going to the bathroom off. It is easy for us to see the creation of disease on the outside of the body but just think of what happens on the inside when toxicity destroys the normal homeostasis of life.

You will not be the first atheist or unbeliever I have said this too. There is not much you can trust in this present world, even family, friends, associates, certainly not your government. Your government loves you like birds love “roadkill”, what they can get from you. This is the reason I tell everyone to not stumble at foot of the cross. RATHER, cling to the cross, your only place of real trust.

Iron Pot

The iron fireplace cooking pot was given to the historical collection by Dr. Thomas R Morris.
From everything he knows, about the pot, this iron cooking pot was brought over to America from England, by his ancestors. They arrived on the coast of New Jersey in 1677, disembarking from the good ship, Kent. The Morris family founded Morristown, New Jersey. He has in his possession, a survey of the first farm. The surveyor, Adjonih Peacock. The man who supplied munitions for the revolution.
The small ship had little room for tools, outside our household, for any type. They had to farm around the stumps of felled trees with just hand instruments. They used the trees to build log cabins... One log on top of another, the cracks filled with mud. Their first structure was a fireplace chimney with chains attached to each side, that attached to the iron cooking pot. Fire was built under the pot and food for sustenance (meat, veggies, etc.)  were cooked together, dished out with a big spoon (and some people think that "pot pies" they buy into today's grocery store are something new). My own grandmother who died in her late 60's still cooked using a large pan in the oven... A big pot pie, meats, and vegetables cooked together. It's just a matter of seasoning to make such food good, but these hardworking farm people, who later moved to eastern North Carolina thank God for every meal for the blessings of food and freedom.
This old iron pot is mostly worn out. It appears that someone attempted to use it as a flower pot. We know that some ancestors of Puritan pioneers that had no appreciation at all for their DNA or ancestry. Dr. Morris is one who does. Having kept many antiquarian hand-downs from the early farms.
This 87-year old veteran (Korean conflict) rejoices in the love of God for his family and for the knowledge he has gathered all over the world from those who are the true survivors.

No More to Give

Your writer is a totally blind, 100% disabled, service connected, medical officer veteran of the Korean conflict. I have just observed my 87th birthday, bodied wracked by cancer. Patient by Zimmer Cancer Clinic.
I’m not a victim, God has been too good to me to complain about anything. My greatest blessing, born into poverty although my family and ancestors were landowners. I never knew anything but hard work and hard times. It was God, family, and church. I graduated from a small country school, 13 in my graduating class.
But, we are not stuck where we start. I was blessed to attend and graduate from two great universities including UNC at Chapel Hill. Although, a lifetime of clinical depression, I worked my way through eight years of college completely… Working at night; school during the day, selling books door to door each summer.
I jumped through all the hoops, boards of examinations to achieve a commission as an Army officer. I served a long career as a field grade medical officer… army hospitals, serving those who were drafted to serve.
I was left with a small amount of vision in one eye, which I couldn't discuss because it is bad enough to see a doctor with two eyes. I was active in my community, “Young Man of the Year in the State of North Carolina”, voted one of the five “Most fascinating men”, writer-speaker at secular and religious meetings, philanthropy at many places. I practiced for several years, it was a very successful practice. Then, the one who chose me for life chose that I should travel the world, smell and taste his great creation… 8 round the world trips, every continent, including both poles, passport stamped in 157 countries.
There have been many disappointments, such as failed marriages, thankless child, and grandchildren, misgiving relatives, thankless friends, and associates. I failed God many times, but God never failed me. Now, at twilight, I live in disbelief at what has happened to my country.
I think of the national cemeteries I have observed, the many VA hospitals where the employees have only two things on their mind, their paycheck and their retirement. Their last concern is the veteran, so many veterans just commit suicide. Your government knows that is cheaper to bury a vet than to care for one. This veteran has always paid out of his pocket for his own health care. I never was issued a white cane by VA, never got my allotments in order. It has been to me up to support myself. Some of the sorriest women on God's earth, Barbara, Agnes, Angie were assigned to me to help me with things. One nurse actually spits in my face. One said, “Why don’t you old men go ahead and die?” (VA hospital at Durham, NC).
I never knew a vet who would not give his life for his country. I truly believe that includes the 116,000 buried on foreign soil. I have nothing more to give.

Fingerprints in Darkness

This totally blind, 100% disabled, medical officer veteran of the Korean conflict was one of the first subscribers in this area too time warner cable blind, I do not watch TV, but I do turn it on for the liberal media, fake news, from the alphabet stations.

It is beyond my comprehension that we force children to attend school and we turn out so much ignorance because, if student educated in most public schools had absorbed any knowledge at all, the, would recognize the "liberal, dribble", like hog slop being fed to a stupid public and, more important, would know when  they are fed a bunch of lies via, such cable wires. As one-time Time Warner, now Spectrum, added to the deceit of Spectrum, the exorbitant charges involved. I was paying a certain amount for my services here in the city… one of the first subscribers, while at the same time, just five miles away, my beach house, sane service, charge twice as much. The time has come for the government, if worth anything at all, FTC - FCC to either shut down these pickpocket cable outfits or set some definite controls on their charges. Don't cable companies realize they are doomed? All one must do is purchase an antenna, which will except pick up the basic channels. With some education and morals-absolute. The other trash can be easily eliminated from your retinas.

Running on Fumes

It is no act of courage to go into a lion's cage when you know there are no lions in the cage.  There are only two things permanent in this world, Gods Holy Word, and the soles of people. To you evolutionists, rust, mold, and fire will destroy the Earth, of course, evil men will make their contribution through warfare whether biological, chemical, or nuclear. No one seems to care in a world addicted to drugs, 90% of Christianity is just courage, but the Christian soldiers deserted long ago. Secular soldiers, much like Christian soldiers, are just pretending;
It's beyond comprehension to this 87-year-old, blind, Korean War Veteran, Field Grade Officer that liberals who are lunatics have now, along with same sex marriage, decided to put females on the front lines along with “Horny Males”. In my day, Women's Army Corps (WACS), we were proud of our female nurses, our female soldiers, but there were women, they even march in dresses on the parade grounds.

BUT, who can criticize the lackadaisical attitude from the pulpit when the greatest military forces in the world, two navy ships ran into one and another in a very big ocean. It makes me so sick to think that the public does not realize anytime the outside of a naval ship is penetrated, all doors are sealed to prevent entrance of water,  the sailors inside caught in the ceiling of the doors drowned in the attempt to keep the ship afloat. Everything involving that which once was considered the values of life has been penetrated and we are all sinking… from the statehouse to the courthouse, to the schoolhouse, to the church house and many of our own proud parent's houses. We are mostly surviving on fumes… just memories of past heroics and glory. We are going down in flames and don't know it. most of us remember movies involving planes being shot down in WW2… over the oceans, spattering on the water.

Our entire nation is going down in flames. started with the invention of plastics. I remember the first plastics. You see there was a time of paper cups, paper over your dry cleaning. now, everything plastic; clothing, furniture, carpet, paint, … everything wrapped in plastic- Plastics wrapped around packages of meat, chemicals into the meat, chemical leaching from the plastics of your hot coffee cup; and those prized bottles of water. The human body rejects synthetics- plastics with their exotic chemicals are synthetic.

¾ of the surface of Earth is covered with water, H2O (One of God's greatest miracles,  the chemical equation change of salt water of oceans to fresh water which happens the air).
80% of the world's drinking water, is polluted by plastic, over time, plastics, with age, turns into dust, plastics from interior/exterior of building, vehicles, microscopic in size, these particles infiltrate and penetrate the tissues of the animal body AND, we wonder why the past 100 years we have had afflicted ourselves with so many unusual diseases.

It makes some of the “ne'er do wells” feel better to tear down or destroy a dead statues of the ones who accomplished things… soldiers-industrialist-educators; men and women of gravitas, who worked hard, learned by study, who knew that life was a matter of fact, not feeling or fairness.

Those who are alive do not realize that they are living their own funeral, but thinking is hard, and we should all know by now that in an age of television trash, telephone madness, evidently, most people do not have anything to think with. How much thinking did Susan Smith do before she strapped her two little boys into her car and, drown them in a lake? How much thinking did the manipulators of our great Washington National Cathedral before they decided to destroy two stained glass windows because they were portraits of Southern American Heros, (General Lee, President Jefferson). That great and beautiful national cathedral belongs to all of us, not just the politically correct lunatics.

Greed is an equal opportunity sin, the poor are as greedy as the rich. We are all looking for ease. The closing thing to godliness is forgiveness and loneliness. We must forgive those who believed they were making life easier for us with their clever inventions… a bottomless ocean of technology. We must forgive those who have never known loneliness… the loneliness and the blackness of blindness, the loneliness of mental disability. The loneliness of serving your country in a foreign land. What happened to a nation where it was so important to rear children with manners, to rear children appreciating goodness, and kindness. From where did all OUR prisoners come from, that we are supporting in our Prison System, (largest prison system in the world, do we correct our flaws with fake news, lies, and deceit, anytime you hear anything on your trashy tv set, you can doubt the honesty. This old, totally blind for 50 years, 100% disabled Veteran who worked and saw others work for this great nation and its marvelous institutions can only weep with the disappearance of truth.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Just Going Through the Motions.

Prophets in the bible wrote about the end times, even George Orwell, but most of us have lived to see the insanity of the end times.

Have you noticed that most human beings, most of them have gone to school and even college, and are just going through the motions, everyone has become politically correct, so afraid they will offend someone… so afraid they will do their job, from the preacher in the pulpit, afraid to offend an unbeliever by using the word “hell”, to the classroom school teacher who must face an irate parent about anything, to law enforcement who prise the criminal more than the person to whom the crime has been committed, everyone wants to just use a meaningless cliche, “Have a good day!” OR, even worse, “God Bless You”. I have found that those who use religious talk of any type, know little about real christianity… real redemption.

Recently, one of my several employees showed me that he had no respect for me: the world; himself; or anything else. Like most of today's young people, he wanted a job with pay but no work-no responsibilities.   I spent the entire weekend deciding if I want to put up with his insolence.

When he came in on Monday morning, he started the same diatribe of disrespect.   I said, “I have decided that I will not need you anymore, so you can leave now”, he said, “ I left something in your office, that I must get”, which was news to me. I have a nurse who comes in the morning, but she had not arrived. Totally blind, very ill with cancer, I did not need his hateful attitude, he proceeded to my office and I heard him open a file cabinet. I had a envelope of small currency, so my employees could make change, when someone purchases something from my business at my front door. I learned later that this money was taken as well as the spare key to my car; kept in the same drawer. He became so dangerous, kicking things around, pushing me, that I called the police asking for help. I had told him to wait in the yard till the police arrived, because I knew he had taken out a bag containing something.

Of course the officer was more concerned about the criminal than he was the old man who had called the police. I heard them chattering out front for a long time before the officer even came into my house. The officer told me that the man only had a bag of lightbulbs, he had brought to my house. Silly beyond words to express, I have been living in my house since it was built 40 years ago, lights all over the house, many extra bulbs, why would an employee bring light bulbs to my house? Yet, this officer did not search or question any of his actions.

When my nurse and another employee had arrived, I asked them to check and see if the money was gone, which of course it was, as well as the spare key to my car; which was kept in the same drawer.  I had called the police for help, I am a 87 yo long time taxpayer, this man has contributed nothing to this county… just moved here, needing  a job.

At the same time, I reminded the District attorney  and all other office who received my email, that i had reported a child being abused across the street, ( parents constantly whipping a small byo), of course most of my neighbors keep the window closed, a/c comfort with the tv blasting, but i keep my windows open and “hear things”. I also reminded him of the woman who had stolen 2000 dollars from me after stealing my credit card, she went to jail, plead guilty to the charges, but I never received a dime of reimbursement even though the D.A. said “I would get my money even before the court cost”.

It never ends, have you noticed that you no longer get a response from any public official, that you no longer get any response from any complaint made about a product. Politicians like manufactures who will not recognize a complaint because then they have become involved.

The most inetpp agency of Federal government is Veterans Administration, it is much cheaper to bury a Veteran then to care for one. And Veteran are at the end of the line when it come to American Citizenship.

When the time has come in a nation that veterans, children , old people, are the object of unconcern by law enforcement- bureaucrats- politicians- pastors- physicians, then we can be sure we are at END times.

We hear about biblical floods, such as the recent flood in texas, million of people were unconcerned about water, at the time of Noah's floods.  God has the ability to cover the entire earth with water.
