Poison in the Kool-Aid

When I graduated at UNC Chapel Hill, graduates were still given a Bible. When I was a student there, I attended the First Baptist Church at the corner of Franklin Street along with many university professors. This was before prayer was taken out of the schoolhouse, before justice was taken out of the courthouse, sin and redemption were still preached in the church house, and real American men, men with American birth certificates were still residing in the White House. The world has changed, and not for the better, before the Obamas moved into the White House, voodoo witches cleansed the building. Police now patrol the halls of the schools, Lady Justice, her blindfold pulled off, ravaged and raped, has fled the courthouse.

There was much news about the liberal element which left the First Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, organized as the Binkley Baptist Church. A church which has left the southern baptist convention because of ordaining a gay male, and now has a female pastor. This past weekend, thirty women calling themselves the “Mother God” group met at the Binkley Church, and talked about Mother God, Lady Wisdom, and other female images of God. One said, “we need to challenge male dominance in the church.” These women need to study scripture, Christ chose male disciples. Even though Christ, his disciples, the apostle Paul, the men of the Old and New Testament enjoyed a respectful relationship with the women in scripture, there is absolutely no way that God intended for the female to teach or preach to the male.

The world is full of differences, marriage to a female is more a matter of drama, the ancients wanted the gargoyles, stained glass, carvings and the majesty of cathedrals. Today's churches are more akin to cracker boxes.

Regardless of gender or materialism, Christianity cannot be hidden. The lovable person can only suspect the worst from others, don't give others a chance to prove their worst side. Our country seems determined to prove its worst side, we have 1,000 drones in operation, dropping bombs on translucent targets, we'll bomb a wedding party of 150 persons just to eliminate one terrorist.

It is not that we are just increasing our national debt 3.87 billion dollars everyday for our grandchildren to pay, but in Rwanda a teacher told me, the religious bigotry was so acute (Tutsi-Hutu war) some children were given lunches and others were not. Can we even imagine warfare, depravity, doubts, as it affects children, not only now, but throughout life. I still remember, in the poor community in which I was raised, children who had never seen an orange. At the school Christmas party, the children did not know how to eat the orange given to them by Santa Claus. In China, Thailand, Nepal there were children who had never had a piece of candy. Satan thrives, does his best work with confusion.

Che Guevara, idol of Cuban youth, Marxist revolutionary, trained physician, traveled throughout South America, becoming grounded in the doubts of spirituality, seeking but never finding an answer to man's inhumanity to man, his inability to supply needs. This week we learned of a submarine loaded with illegal drugs, opium transported from Afghanistan. A daily regimen of fear and desperation, we seek solace in blame, and when we cannot blame one another, we can always blame God. Disaster had always been a two-headed monster, some large, some small. You do not solve any problem by creating another one, you do not solve one crisis by using another. This may be news to Mr. Obama and Rhom Emmanuel.

Dr. Schuller of the Crystal Cathedral was talking to Dr. Billy Graham. He said to Dr. Graham, “do you believe there is salvation for the Buddhists, Hindu, and other cults who do not accept Christ?” Dr. Graham said he believed the mercy of God would extend to all. Dr. Schuller replied, “I'm glad to hear that, I believe the same.”

Jesus preached himself, he said he was the way, the truth and the light (John 14:6). Scripture has been compromised enough by those conforming to the world, it is time for transformed people to talk about the poison in the well, the poison in the Kool-Aid.

God is still “boss”, it is time for us to recognize his sovereignty, we do not know why God does what he does (nuclear blasts, volcanoes, earthquakes, famine), that is none of our business. John Wilkes Booth, the actor who shot President Lincoln in the Ford theater in Washington DC, had an actor brother named Edwin Booth. In Jersey City, New Jersey in 1864, on a train platform, Edwin rescued, from almost certain death, Robert (Todd) Lincoln, son of President Lincoln. In the very first family, Kane killed Abel. Through a series of miracles in 1819 BC, Jacob's sons went to Egypt. Moses received free room and board from the Pharaoh. History is full of these consistent inconsistencies. Rejoice in the Lord always, and again, I say rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)
