Old People, Roaming Through the Antique Shop

“The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected.”  - Robert Frost

You are only as great as the cause you serve, and, many of us believe that you are only as great as the god you serve.

In a world of insanity, it is good to take time out to think about those you have known after they have reached the last season of their life...seasoned citizens.

I have never known anyone to reach old age...family-patients-neighbors, who were not what the world calls, really decent people.

There is a reason that Jesus said, in the greatest sermon the world has ever known "Blessed are the pure in heart so they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8)

I don't believe my mother or grandmothers ever knew anything about homosexuality, they were so modest, so careful in their appearance, so honest in their deportment.  Women of their generation did not use hair dye or lipstick.  The beauty of their souls came forth in their presence; their husbands-children-friends saw the genuineness of character.  Character determines destination and they were destined, through faith, to an eternity of total happiness.  Today's children have been seduced by the internet, by the false flags of popularity, the temptations of television.

When one is born-again male or female, the righteousness of Jesus replaces the old deceitful person of sin and rejection.  When God looks at the born-again human being through his spectacles, he sees the righteousness of Jesus.  The Christian mother cannot even imagine in the wildest loony tunes nightmare, the abortion of a child within her body.  Islam motherhood, providing a child for self explosion with a bomb to kill others...as ridiculous as the path to Valhalla (ancient rewards for killing), the idea in Islam that one will be rewarded for the killing of others.  (What putrid human thought the Muslim religion, that a male giving himself to suicide warfare will be rewarded with virgins in Heaven?  What will the females get for the bombs strapped on their bodies?  What were the Japanese Kamikaze pilots promised?)  The purity of motherhood, to the Christian as well as to western thought, the development of children in the beauty of persona culture (personality) and contributing to others as well as to God who chose them for life.  There is nothing greater, more rewarding, than two individuals, possessing the DNA from centuries of ancestry, coming together, as man and wife and producing offspring (children) who, made in the image of God are a credit to civilization.  I truly believe that mothers and fathers, and we all age at the same speed, looking toward the future but not knowing the warp and woof of the future...only eternal destination, having a virtual vision.  I'll never forget the time I went with my mother to see her first granddaughter.  My mother had already been diagnosed with cancer, she would never see this granddaughter develop into the beautiful woman she is today.  She had seen my sister, the child's mother as a bride, but she would never see this granddaughter as a bride-college student-mother but, I do believe that God is too good not to, within the inner magnificence of the human brain, sense their inheritors.  I cannot believe sinners-unbelievers are so blessed by my God of gifts and glory.

In my lifetime, 86 years, the world has gone completely crazy...up is down, good is bad, more is less.  For 19th and 20th century citizens of America and indeed, citizens of the world, we were content to live responsible lives.  There was no confusion about gender and values.  Satan always pays with counterfeit, he knows his destiny, Hell, and he wants to take just as many there with him as possible.  He is constantly on the job; the oldest book in the Bible, the Book of Job, "walking to and fro seeking whom he may devour" (Job 1:7).  In our ancestors wildest imagination, more decadent than any book could describe, any sick mind could conceive, what has just been published: a woman taking hormone therapy to become a man, actually growing a beard, then deciding that she wanted to have a baby, taking the therapy (with the help of some criminal "doctor") to actually bring a baby into the world.  The picture here shows the baby nursing and the mother with a beard.  How actually more pathological can the human mind become?  Could you ever convince any of our ancestors, in spite of their unbelief, that such decadence could develop in humanity?

I was often asked to give a eulogy at an old person's funeral; I find that it is the aged who are afforded long lives.  Most sinners die young, prisoners given life sentences, die young.  I would always say, "We feel we are burying a library today, interring great and honorable knowledge."

There is nothing as selfish as an ingrate.  One mother was found recently in her daughter's freezer, dead for months.  Right here in the town where I live, one mother kept preserved, dead in her bed, in her own home.  Both daughters more coveting of their mother's SS checks than the memories of their mother's love and devotion to them.  One of my workers, Beth, took a call from a distant nursing home, "My damn mother has died; I will have to take off a day or so to bury the body!"...no sorrow-no memories-no concern.

Remember, we will all age and, we will age to enter through gates of splendor or the pangs of torment.  Our greatest honor, to honor those who cross our paths, in some way, who have walked roads-carrying baggage-taking risks, allowing us to walk in their shadow.
