Hyphen

One of my many interests as a young person was walking through cemeteries, particularly, historic cemeteries where famous people have been long buried. Of particular interest were birth and death dates and the hyphen or a dash between the birth and death dates. Of significance in any life is what happened during that time.

This weekend, we had the death of Dr. George Tiller, perhaps the best known killer in the world. On his tombstone will be the dates, (August 8, 1941 – May 31, 2009). During his life, which in today's actuary tables was a very short life, this most famous abortionist put to death at least 60,000 babies. You see, he had a Dr. in front of his name, went to medical school and took the Hippocratic Oath ('do no harm'), that he would try to save lives, but for the 'love of money' (so he could give a pagan like Kathleen Sebelius, former governor of Kansas, now Secretary of Health and Human resources in the Obama administration, $200,000 for her political campaign) he had repudiated all principles of acceptable health care, put on a 'veil of religiosity' and was actually gunned down in a church.

Of course, the media has seized upon this, now call him a 'provider' and the sincere pro-life Christians are damned by the news media, more so than this murderer because one man (a reported 51 year old, Scott Roeder), who was lead by Satan to do this act of taking life, chose to take the law in his own hands and murder this murderer. You see, pro-life people preserve life whether it is in the womb or their fellow human beings (regardless of their morals) and we do not take capital punishment into our own hands; this is left for the courts. Tiller had been tried by the courts and would have been tried again. An attempt was being made to relieve him of his license to practice medicine.

In his 'veil of religiosity', it is reported that he actually had someone to baptize the babies he had murdered, that he would actually have them dressed in white before they were cremated in his own private crematory. Of even more unbelievable coincidence, is the fact that a Lutheran Church would accept him as a member and he would actually be serving as an Usher in the church. (Tiller the Killer, his notoriety throughout the world as one of the chief killers in the abortion holocaust, seemed not to bother the members or the pastor of this so-called church; which goes to show you, again, that the chief refuge for many criminals, seeking a hiding place, is the church.) This is fine, if the criminal or anyone else for that matter, because we are all sinners saved by grace, repents, is converted to Christ, and becomes a new creation. It is obvious this did not happen with Dr. Tiller. He was just 'playing church', seeking some 'mask of pretension', as he acted out some masquerade of credibility in the church.

Of course, the media and the pro-choice crowd, the liberals on the left, including the administration in Washington, the most pro-abortion administration in the world, shed crocodile tears over Dr. Tillers death. You can imagine that a big show of sympathy will be shown towards him, his radical cause, and the far left politicians will continue to throw stones of disgust at the sincere pro-life Christians who have taken the time and made the effort in protesting the taking of an innocent life, in front of the Tiller Clinics as well as every other phase of the pro-life movement.

Physicians who have left the abortionist cause, such as Dr. Bernard Nathanson; born July 31, 1926, in New York an American medical doctor and pro-life activist from New York. Nathanson graduated in 1949 from McGill University Facility of Medicine in Montreal. He has been licensed to practice in New York state since 1952. He became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1960. As a younger man, he had been strongly pro-choice, and he states that he performed an abortion on a woman who had become pregnant by him. (Can you even imagine killing your own child in-utero?!) He later gained national attention by then becoming one of the founding members of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws, now known as NARAL Pro-Choice America. He worked with Betty Friedan (in speaking of children said, “Is this all?”) and others for the legalization of abortion in the United States. Their efforts essentially succeeded with the Roe v Wade decision. He was also for a time the director of the Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health (CRASH), New York's largest abortion clinic. Nathanson has written that he was responsible for more than 75,000 abortions throughout his pro-choice career (more than Tiller). The development of ultrasound, however, in the 1970s led him to reconsider his views on abortion. He is now a staunch supporter of the pro-life movement. In 1984, he made the documentary The Silent Scream, which showed an abortion from the perspective of ultrasound. His second documentary Eclipse of Reason dealt with late-term abortions. He has also stated that the numbers he once cited for NARAL concerning the number of deaths linked to illegal abortions were "false figures". He has written the books Aborting America and The Hand of God. Although he grew up Jewish, he described himself as a "Jewish Atheist"[2] and later converted to Catholicism in 1996 through the efforts of Fr. C. John McCloskey.

Others who have willingly or unwillingly been killers of the most innocent of life and have come to their senses, became followers of the giver of life, Jesus Christ, and call themselves 'centurions' taken from the centurion who witnessed the crucifixion of Christ, who threw down his sword and proclaimed that 'Christ was an innocent man.' (Luke 23:47)

We do not know what happened with Dr. Tiller before his final breath, perhaps he was converted at the last second. If not, like all other murderers, he now knows the consequences of his actions. The end never justifies the means and it is tragic indeed that another man became a murderer trying to extend justice to the thousands of innocent babies, who, one day from inception, 37 days to a heartbeat, are being killed in the most horrendous act to all mankind, for which Dr. Tiller was famous; the so called 'partial birth abortion' in which the baby is killed at birth.
From legislative records in Illinois, and other media reports during the political campaign, here is some information for those of you who voted the Democrat slate in the last national election, which put Obama into the oval office: Obama reportedly believes that a baby should not be given life-saving therapy in a failed abortion attempt; for instance, it was nationally reported that a newly birthed baby, not killed in the abortion attempt at birth, alive and crying, was isolated to die. Even Mengele, the famed Nazi executioner, did not go this far.

Joseph Stalin, who reportedly murdered 26 million of his fellow Russians in the Communist Revolution, is reported by his daughter, just before his death, to have been shaking his fist in the air toward God. In this case, as with Tiller, we do not know what happened before death. But, if not saved by the grace of Jesus Christ before death, these murderers now know.

My first trip to the USSR (Russia) the Communists were still exerting their 'iron fisted rule'. In Leningrad (now called St. Petersburg) I looked across the Neva River (I had a shadow of vision at that time) and could see the steeples of St. Peter and St. Paul's Cathedral in the Fortress of Peter and Paul. I had been to St. Isaacs Cathedral, which was being used as a museum and found that the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul was likewise a museum, but desperately needed repair. Some things stand out in my mind over the years, like the world famous Russian museum, The Hermitage and the gold horse carriages of the czars; but at the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, what stood out were the weeds growing all around these once magnificent edifices, that the interior was largely void of any décor, except frescoes on the walls. I went outside and sat on a bench, just thinking of what has happened to the worship sanctuary of Jesus Christ in this great city, bearing the names of two of the greatest Apostles, when an old lady came and sat down beside me, speaking some broken English.

It turns out that she was a janitor at the building, a Christian woman, very dejected and depressed, as she did her job of trying to keep litter out of this great building. She told me that the roof was in great need of repair, that this cathedral did not get the attention that St. Isaacs did, because St. Isaacs (in central Leningrad) was a greater museum and had more tourists. When she found she could trust me, she told me about her life as a follower of Christ, trying to live in this godless, communist morass. She was the only survivor of her family, of the Communist purge of Christians. As a young girl, she had been hidden in the Urals, had returned to Leningrad as a non-believer. She had been raped and the communists had forced her into an abortion. Later, she had been raped again, and again, she was forced into an abortion.

Her only mental stability had come from her association with a priest who had led her to Christ, and through her new relationship with Jesus Christ, she had found a desire to live and face the trials and turmoil of the totalitarian state. She went into great detail, which I shall not tell here because most people do not want to hear about morose subjects, of how the city and country was being depleted of every beautiful aspect of life because of abortion. She said, “We see very few small children. There was a time we heard the sounds of children here in the cathedral, now it is just a museum where older people, who have been told of the religious life in the country prior to communism, come in a 'sightseeing' perspective. Worship is no more.”

H.G. Wells, wrote in his 1933 book, The Shape of Things to Come, (which speculates on future events from 1933 until the year 2106) that much would happen in the USA that has happened in Russia. In 1935, Sinclair Lewis, in one of his first books, entitled It Can't Happen Here, tried to discount what Wells had said and what had happened in Europe in the first part of the century. In 1938, Wells wrote The War of the Worlds. In this, as in other writings, ('36,'37, and '38) we have a blueprint showing the loss of our democratic republic and free enterprise. It has happened here, and anyone with two purkinge cells still functioning in the brain, who has seen the nationalizing of our largest corporations (GM, Chrysler, banks, etc.) the takeover of banks and insurance, can tell. The castigation of the spiritual, academic and corporate systems of this country by a controlled news media and the apathy of the average citizen toward defense of the “American Way”, even while military forces are on the battlefield, would cause our ancestors and founding fathers of this country to fall over in disbelief. What has happened to our patriotism, to our Christian-Judeo principles, the sanctity of life, the preservation of law and civil rights and the foundations of our Constitution? Have we seen a slow drift to the 1980 Secular Humanist Declaration by Paul Kurtz and Edwin H. Wilson, which stipulates most notably "No deity will save us; we must save ourselves," "We are responsible for what we are and for what we will be," and the right to abortion. The God denying, Christ defying, (since 1933, 1973, 2003) secular humanists, led by Unitarians and a few Science field academics, have fallen right in line with the totalitarian, socialist takeover of the country. Where are the 26 million veterans who were willing to defend the integrity of this nation? Where are the millions of Christians, who at least in pretense, are willing to defend our Christian heritage?
